That's So Raven's Kyle Massey Slams Felony Charge of Sending Explicit Messages to Minor

That's So Raven's Kyle Massey Slams Felony Charge of Sending Explicit Messages to Minor

  • That's So Raven alum Kylie Massey's lawyer has issued a statement in response to the criminal charge filed against the actor for allegedly sending a teen explicit messages.

Former Disney Channel star Kyle Massey is maintaining his innocence.

After Washington state prosecutors charged the 29-year-old with one count of communication with a minor for immoral purposes, the That’s So Raven alum is speaking out, slamming the claim that he allegedly sent inappropriate messages and images to the teen—an accusation first made in a 2019 civil lawsuit that was later dropped.

“It is unfortunate that Kyle Massey had to learn through the media yesterday that the 2019 allegations have resurfaced in the State of Washington a year after their dismissal,” the actor’s lawyer said in a June 30 statement to E! News. “Massey claims that the allegations then and now are extortive.”

The attorney added, “Massey intends to aggressively defend these accusations again and will seek civil damages from those that refuse to hear the facts. We plan to seek an early dismissal—finally putting these extortive attempts to rest.”

Between December 2018 and January 2019, Massey allegedly communicated with a 13-year-old girl, who is now 16. According to the court filing, Massey allegedly “believed” she was a minor when he electronically communicated with her “for immoral purposes of a sexual nature.”

“The statements made to the police regarding the accuser’s own counsel’s advice seem peculiar, tearing away the veracity from the stale allegations,” Massey’s lawyer added. “The accusers in no hidden agenda attempt to use the Washington courts as a platform for revenge after losing the civil matter. Indeed, California counsel withdrew from representation from the accuser leaving us to conclude that he was not willing to make misrepresentations to the court.”

In 2019, the girl’s mother sued Massey in civil court in California for $1.5 million over his alleged behavior but eventually realized he “didn’t have enough money to make the case worth it” and dropped the lawsuit, according to a police statement noted in the criminal filing by the prosecuting attorney for King County, Wash. After the civil lawsuit was filed, Massey’s lawyer said in a statement that the actor denied “any alleged misconduct” and called the filing an “extortion attempt.”

After dropping the suit, the girl’s mother contacted police in Washington, where the family lived during the pair’s alleged communication, to move forward with criminal allegations. The teen’s mom provided the authorities with a thumb drive allegedly containing explicit photos and videos that the actor sent her daughter, telling them Massey knew her child since she was 4 and was well aware of her current age, Washington authorities said in the court filing.

After being issued his recent felony charge, Massey failed to appear for his arraignment in court on Monday, June 28, the King County Superior Court Clerk’s Office told E! News. However, a bench warrant wasn’t issued.

“The Washington matter is already showing problematic signs,” the actor’s attorney said in their statement on Wednesday. “Massey was never properly served or notified as represented to the court and the pleadings are procedurally and substantively deficient on its face.”

A new arraignment date was set for July 12.

According to a June 14 court motion obtained by E! News, Massey is prohibited from having contact with minor children “except in the presence of a responsible adult” and is also not allowed to go online without a computer monitoring system.

Former Victoria's Secret Model Bridget Malcolm Slams Brand While Recalling Personal Struggles

Former Victoria's Secret Model Bridget Malcolm Slams Brand While Recalling Personal Struggles

  • Ex-Victoria's Secret Model Bridget Malcolm released a scathing video criticizing the retailer, using a bra from a 2016 fashion show to to show how underweight she was allegedly pressured to become.
  • Watch: Tyra Banks Calls Victoria’s Secret Rebrand a “Beauty Revolution”

Former Victoria’s Secret model Bridget Malcolm has criticized the retailer’s recent brand makeover in a scathing video, in which she uses one of their bras to demonstrate how underweight she was allegedly pressured to become to walk in one of its annual fashion shows.

The 29-year-old made her comments on TikTok on Sunday, June 27, more than a week after the lingerie and apparel group ended its “Angels” brand, represented by its top models such as Adriana Lima, Behati Prinsloo and Candice Swanepoel, and announced a new roster of women as the public faces of the group, including soccer star Megan Rapinoe, actress Priyanka Chopra and plus-size model Paloma Elsesser.

“Victoria’s Secret,” Malcolm said, “your performative ally ship is a joke.”

In her video, captioned, “too little too late Victoria’s Secret,” the model demonstrated how underweight she was when she took part in the 2016 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, her second and final overall. In the clip, she tries on a size 30A lace white Victoria’s Secret bra that she wore at the event.

“I am now a size 34B,” said the 5-foot-11-inch model, “which is healthy for me.”

She continued, “I was rejected from the show in 2017 by Ed Razek. He said ‘my body did not look good enough.'”

Razek served as marketing chief of Victoria’s Secret’s parent company L Brands from 1983 until his retirement in 2019. He could not be reached for comment and a rep for Victoria’s Secret had no immediate remarks about Bridget’s video when reached by E! News.

Malcolm continued, “I wore a size 30B at that point. Look how big it was on me. The sadness behind my eyes from the 2016 show breaks my heart.”

Victoria’s Secret’s recent brand makeover comes amid years of growing criticism of the retailer and changing attitudes about beauty standards and representation of women. In 2019, Razek left L Brands and the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show was canceled.

In 2020, Victoria’s Secret came under criticism again after The New York Times published an article about allegations of misogyny, bullying and harassment within the group. Razek told the newspaper the accusations described in the report were “categorically untrue, misconstrued or taken out of context.”

But a rep for L Brands did not dispute the reporting. They told The New York Times that the company “is intensely focused” on corporate governance, workplace and compliance practices and that it had “made significant strides.” The rep added, “We regret any instance where we did not achieve this objective and are fully committed to continuous improvement and complete accountability.”

Malcolm’s video is one of several she has posted in recent weeks in which she criticizes the fashion industry. In a TikTok clip shared on Tuesday, June 29, the model responded to fans’ questions about why she did not speak out sooner. She detailed her mental health struggles following past traumas—including being “sexually assaulted multiple times”—and experiencing pressure to meet modeling beauty standards.

She said she had been “told to do cocaine to lose weight” by people involved in her career. Bridget also said, “I’ve been told whilst I was underage to just have lots of sex to lose weight.”

“I was struggling with my gender identity,” she continued. “I’d developed anorexia and orthorexia and anxiety and depression. I couldn’t socialize without drinking and was developing quite the reliance on Xanax and Ambien in order to get me through the night. And that was before I turned 18.”

Malcolm said that on her 26th birthday, she suffered a “nervous breakdown,” adding, “I couldn’t leave my house for a year without panic attacks and severe anxiety. I also had a bout with suicidal ideations, which was terrifying. That was four years ago.”

“Today,” she said, “I am two-plus years sober. I’m four years in recovery from an eating disorder. I’m happy. I’m balanced and I’m strong and I feel the best I’ve ever felt. The reality is, I couldn’t talk about my experiences before I reached this point because I would have intense PTSD flashbacks, I would have panic attacks and I wouldn’t be OK. But I am OK now and that’s why I’m speaking out.”

The model continued, “The only reason why I am doing this is because I am a strong believer that the fashion industry needs to change. I am one of the lucky models. I was able to make a long career out of the fashion industry. My job should not include abuse and that is why I’m speaking out now.”

Los Angeles Dodgers Star Trevor Bauer Slams "Baseless" Sexual Assault Allegation

  • Police tell E! News they are investigating an allegation of sexual assault against Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer, and the star's agent dismisses the claim as "baseless."

Los Angeles Dodgers standout Trevor Bauer is the subject of an investigation surrounding an allegation of sexual assault.

The Pasadena Police Department is “looking into allegations of assault” against the 2020 Cy Young Award winner, an officer told E! News on Tuesday, June 29.

Attorney Marc Garelick, who is representing the accuser, told E! News in a statement that his client has obtained a domestic violence restraining order against Bauer. According to the attorney’s statement, the order resulted from an alleged “recent assault” that caused the woman “severe physical and emotional pain.”

His statement continued, “Our goal is to keep Mr. Bauer from contacting our client in any way possible. We anticipate there will be criminal action against Mr. Bauer, and it is our hope law enforcement will take our client’s allegations and case seriously.”

In response to the investigation, the pitcher’s agent, Jon Fetterolf, released a statement to NBC News saying his client had a “brief and wholly consensual sexual relationship” with the individual that began in April 2021 and included two in-person encounters.

    Forbes‘ Highest-Paid Athletes of 2021

“We have messages that show [the accuser] repeatedly asking for ‘rough’ sexual encounters involving requests to be ‘choked out’ and slapped in the face,” the statement continued. “In both of their encounters, [she] drove from San Diego to Mr. Bauer’s residence in Pasadena, Calif., where she went on to dictate what she wanted from him sexually, and he did what was asked.”

According to the sports agent, the woman messaged the pitcher “with friendly and flirtatious banter” after both encounters. Additionally, Fetterolf stated that, days after the second encounter, the woman sent pics of herself to Bauer and “indicated that she had sought medical care for a concussion.” This led Bauer to express “concern and confusion,” according to his rep’s statement, and the woman “was neither angry nor accusatory.”

Bauer’s agent added that the woman and the 30-year-old athlete have “not corresponded in over a month” and haven’t “seen each other in over six weeks.”

The statement continued, “Her basis for filing a protection order is nonexistent, fraudulent and deliberately omits key facts, information and her own relevant communications. Any allegations that the pair’s encounters were not 100 percent consensual are baseless, defamatory and will be refuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

Bauer, a 2018 All-Star, signed a three-year deal with the reigning World Series champion Dodgers during the offseason earlier this year. He was previously a member of the Cincinnati Reds, where he became the franchise’s first player to win the Cy Young, awarded to Major League Baseball‘s best pitcher.

E! News has reached out to the Dodgers organization and has not yet heard back.

Colton Underwood Slams Bachelor Nation While Addressing PPP Loan Controversy: "I Don’t Fk With Them"

  • According to ProPublica and FederalPay.org records, Colton Underwood’s nonprofit received an $11,355 loan amid the coronavirus pandemic. But he wants you to know it’s not what you think.
  • Watch: Colton Underwood Calls Out “Bachelor” Franchise

Colton Underwood isn’t beating around the rose bush on this one: He personally didn’t receive a Paycheck Protection Program loan.

According to records from ProPublica and FederalPay.org, several Bachelor alums received PPP loans given to small business owners to fund payroll costs and benefits amid the coronavirus pandemic. And while his Colton Underwood Legacy Foundation—a nonprofit that supports people living with cystic fibrosis—did pick up an $11,355 loan, he says that check wasn’t going into his pocket.

“Let me save you the clickbait headline,” he wrote on Instagram Stories June 28. “My nonprofit filed for a PPP because we cancelled our charity events for this year. We help people living with CF. I don’t make a dime from my nonprofit…please stop lumping me in with the bachelor. I don’t f–k with them anymore, they don’t f–k with me. Point blank. Thanks.”

Colton isn’t the only star from the franchise who is addressing the PPP loans.

According to ProPublica and FederalPay.org records, Tayshia Adams, who is currently hosting Katie Thurston‘s season of The Bachelorette, received a $20,833 PPP loan for eponymous LLC payroll.

“As a business owner, television and podcast host, and brand ambassador, Tayshia obtained a PPP Loan that enabled her to hire an employee (someone who was previously unemployed), to whom she offers market-based pay and benefits,” her rep told E! News. “Since exhausting the PPP Loan funds, but in light of the growing economy, Tayshia has committed to retaining her employee for the foreseeable future.”

The records also show Arie Luyendyk Jr. and Lauren Burnham‘s LLC “Instagram Husband” obtained a $20,830 PPP loan for payroll, Evan Bass received $20,832 for his physician practice’s payroll and that Dale Moss applied for a $20,833 PPP loan but that the fund was not disbursed.

E! News reached out to Arie, Lauren, Evan and Dale but did not receive any comment.

Christina Aguilera Slams "Devastating and Demeaning" Treatment of Britney Spears After Testimony

  • In a passionate Instagram statement, Christina Aguilera applauded Britney Spears for condemning the conservatorship she says has wrongly controlled her for more than a decade.
  • Watch: Britney Spears Feels “Hopeful” After Conservatorship Hearing

Christina Aguilera is in Britney Spears‘ corner.

In a statement posted to Instagram on June 28, the singer—who rose to fame alongside Britney first on the Mickey Mouse Club and then again as they became internationally-beloved pop stars in the early 2000s—addressed comments made during last week’s conservatorship hearing.

Christina applauded Britney for condemning the strict legal arrangement she says has wrongly controlled her for the past 13 years.

“These past few days I’ve been thinking about Britney and everything she is going through,” the “Candyman” performer wrote. “It is unacceptable that any woman, or human, wanting to be in control of their own destiny might not be allowed to live life as they wish.”

Christina then acknowledged what it must feel like for Britney “to be silenced, ignored, bullied or denied support” by those within her inner circle, describing it as “the most depleting, devastating and demeaning thing imaginable.”

“The harmful mental and emotional damage this can take on a human spirit is nothing to be taken lightly,” she continued. “Every woman must have the right to her own body, her own reproductive system, her own privacy, her own space, her own healing and her own happiness.”

Among the claims included in Britney’s shocking testimony was the revelation that she’s prohibited from removing an IUD, despite wanting to have a baby. Additionally, Britney likened the conservatorship to sex trafficking, going as far to say she’s being “enslaved” by her father and co-conservator, Jamie Spears

While Christina admitted she’s not privy to every detail of Britney’s case, she said she can empathize through their shared experience of fame.

Her statement continued, “The conviction and desperation of this plea for freedom leads me to believe that this person I once knew has been living without compassion or decency from those in control. To a woman who has worked under conditions and pressure unimaginable to most, I promise you she deserves all of the freedom possible to live her happiest life.”

“My heart goes out to Britney,” Christina concluded. “She deserves all the TRUE love and support in the world.”

Christina joins a growing list of Britney’s former collaborators who have publicly supported her request to terminate the conservatorship. Justin Timberlake, who dated Britney from 1999 to 2002, called upon the artist’s family to right their alleged wrongs.

Britney’s younger sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, broke her silence on the matter earlier Monday. The former Zoey 101 star denied involvement in Britney’s legal turmoil, but said she supports her “100 percent.”

Following Britney’s testimony, an attorney read a statement in court on Jamie’s behalf, which read, “Mr. Spears is sorry to see his daughter suffering and in so much pain. Mr. Spears loves his daughter and misses her very much.”

Tanner Tolbert Slams Bachelor Franchise's "Train Wreck" Hosting Decisions

Tanner Tolbert Slams Bachelor Franchise's "Train Wreck" Hosting Decisions

  • In light of Bachelor in Paradise hiring celebrities to fill in for Chris Harrison, Tanner Tolbert lambasted the "ridiculous" direction the franchise is taking.
  • Watch: Was Chris Harrison’s “Bachelor” Exit Really the Right Decision?

Bachelor Nation‘s Tanner Tolbert wants the franchise to say buh-bye to attention-grabbing hosts.

The 34-year-old alum of The Bachelorette posted a self-proclaimed “rant” to his Instagram Story on Wednesday, June 9, during which he railed against the direction he feels the franchise is heading regarding its hosting situation

He first shared his feelings on Twitter, when he criticized a tweet from Bachelor in Paradise‘s official account about the plan to have celebrities Tituss Burgess, Lance Bass, David Spade and Lil Jon stepping in as guest hosts this season.

Tanner then addressed the situation in more detail on Instagram by saying, “The Bachelor franchise needs to figure their s–t out, and figure it out quick. Because I think the show is on a slippery slope right now, and—as a fan of the show, first and foremost—I want to see it keep going. But I think all this host drama is just starting to get ridiculous.”

Bachelor in Paradise‘s Most Shocking Breakups

He explained that his opinion was based not only on the Paradise plans, but also his feelings after watching Kaitlyn Bristowe and Tayshia Adams serving as co-hosts for the premiere of Katie Thurston‘s season of The Bachelorette that aired on June 7. The franchise is currently without a permanent host, given that Chris Harrison took a temporary leave in February before announcing on June 8 that he would not return.

“The host doesn’t need to be the star of the show,” Tanner continued. “It’s as simple as that. The host is the host. The host needs to be the backbone of the show and fill a role. I don’t need to see commentary on every little thing and have everything be a joke.”

Tanner Tolbert, Jade Roper-Tolbert Paul Archuleta/Getty Images

The auto finance manager, who got engaged to now-wife Jade Roper during Bachelor in Paradise‘s second season that aired in 2015, made it clear he didn’t intend this as a commentary on Chris’ exit, or as personal criticism of Kaitlyn, Tayshia or any of the celebs. According to Tanner, the show should be more focused on the relationships with the participants, rather than “pre-planned, contrived BS.”

He continued, “I don’t tune in to watch David Spade hand out date cards. He was great in Tommy Boy, don’t get me wrong. But I want to watch The Bachelor and The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise for the drama and for the relationships, and see that unfold on the screen.”

Tanner also clarified that the show still holds a special place in his heart, given that he met Jade on it, and that they now share three children together. He also said that Kaitlyn and Tayshia “brought great energy and have great hosting abilities.”

But he criticized elements of their first episode as hosts, including their frequent commentary about the limo entrances. He pointed out that, in his opinion, some of the franchise’s best episodes featured little involvement from Chris.

“I just want to see contestants—I want to see those relationships,” he shared. “So I hope the show succeeds. I hope it gets it gets better because right now, it’s a train wreck.”

He then added one more video in which he also expressed that the franchise shouldn’t devote airtime to having alums impart advice to the new participants. “Even when I’ve done it, I thought it was boring,” he said. “It’s cool to see former contestants, but that’s what social media is for.”

  • Watch: Caitlyn Jenner Officially Announces Run for California Governor

Sophia Hutchins is ready to put these rumors to rest.

After years of speculation, the 25-year-old entrepreneur once again made it clear that she and Caitlyn Jenner are not in a romantic relationship.

On June 1, Sophia took to Instagram Stories to shut down a tweet that claimed she and the 71-year-old TV star have been together for four years. “Fake news!” Sophia captioned the post. “Not a lesbian! F–k off.”

The Lumasol founder then proceeded to set the record straight. “Love the whole LGBT community but so tired of rumors that I am romantically with Caitlyn,” Sophia added. “I am only ever with men and only ever have been. Stop the rumors! It’s been years.”

According to a 2019 interview with The New York Times, Sophia and Caitlyn were introduced through a makeup artist while Sophia was in college and became friends. Sophia took on the role of Caitlyn’s manager and moved into her house in 2017. And while their red carpet appearances, vacations and social media posts together sparked dating speculation, Sophia told the newspaper they “were never romantically involved.”

When asked why the tabloid reports persisted, she replied, “Because we weren’t addressing it. I don’t feel a need to address my sex life, quite frankly, unless I want to.”

But as noted, Caitlyn and Sophia have addressed the rumors before. In 2018, for instance, Caitlyn told Variety they’re “the best of friends,” and Sophia described them as business partners in an interview on The Hidden Truth With Jim Breslo

It was never romantic. It was never sexual,” Sophia reiterated in a May 2020 interview for Juicy Scoop With Heather McDonald. “It was very much friends.”

In fact, she’s called their relationship “parental,” joking Caitlyn wants to “sign off” on any guys Sophia dates.

“It’s very parental, very protective,” she told Heather. “But, at the same time, it’s also businessy. Like, what I say is it’s like we’re family.”

Khloe Kardashian Slams "Weirdo" Who Called Her Kanye West Birthday Tribute "Uncalled For"

  • Khloe Kardashian's birthday shout-out to brother-in-law Kanye West didn't sit right with one critic, who questioned if the message was considerate of Kim Kardashian's feelings amid her divorce.
  • Watch: Kim Kardashian Says She’ll Love Kanye West “For Life” in B-day Post

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West may be going through a divorce, but that doesn’t mean Khloe Kardashian can’t wish her brother-in-law a happy birthday.

Khloe gave Kanye a birthday shout-out on Tuesday, June 8, writing on Instagram that the rapper is her “brother for life.” She added, “Have the best birthday Ye! Sending you love and endless blessings!!”

Many applauded the Good American co-founder for displaying kindness towards her sister’s ex, but one critic wasn’t too happy with the birthday message. They replied to Kim’s comment of a red balloon emoji, “Im sorry Kim. The whole ‘brother for life’ thing is too petty for me. Your sister bond should be much more strong than feeling the need to say that.”

The person continued, “Your divorce was so hard on you even the picture is uncalled for. There is so many other pictures. Google could of been her friend. This wasn’t cute but im glad your being strong through it all.”

Khloe, however, disagrees with this person’s assessment of the situation. As she put it, “Why are you even commenting on something you know nothing about?”

    Kim Kardashian, Khloe KardashianMEGA

“You don’t think me and my sister’s talk about one another’s feelings? We are with one another every day,” True Thompson‘s mom clapped back. “This is MY FAMILY. Not yours! Don’t comment as if you in the know unless you are actually in the know. Weirdo!!”

But Khloe wasn’t the only Kardashian to wish Kanye a happy birthday. Kris Jenner and Kim marked the “Flashing Lights” performer’s 44th trip around the sun on their respective social media profiles. While the momager simply wrote, “Happy Birthday Kanye,” Kim shared a picture of their family of six with the caption, “Love U for Life.”

The commenter wasn’t wrong in saying Kim has been upset by her ongoing divorce. As Kim shared on part one of the Keeping Up With the Kardashians finale, she feels like a “failure” because she wasn’t able to be the wife Kanye deserved.

“He should have a wife that supports his every move and travels with him and does everything and I can’t,” Kim told her sisters. “I feel like a f–king failure and it’s, like, a third f–king marriage. Yeah, I feel like a f–king loser. But I can’t even think about that. Like, I want to be happy.”

Though filming took place some months ago, a source recently told E! News the episode made Kim “upset,” as she was forced to relive their marriage’s breakdown. “With the KUWTK finale and dramatic episode airing, it’s a lot for her to take in when she’s reminded of it,” a source close to Kim explained. “She has her ups and downs, especially when she thinks back to happy times with Kanye.”

But as Kim said in the episode, “I want to be happy.”

The source added Kim tries not to dwell on their split and is “truly focused on herself, the kids and her future plans.”
