Former Victoria’s Secret model Bridget Malcolm has criticized the retailer’s recent brand makeover in a scathing video, in which she uses one of their bras to demonstrate how underweight she was allegedly pressured to become to walk in one of its annual fashion shows.

The 29-year-old made her comments on TikTok on Sunday, June 27, more than a week after the lingerie and apparel group ended its “Angels” brand, represented by its top models such as Adriana Lima, Behati Prinsloo and Candice Swanepoel, and announced a new roster of women as the public faces of the group, including soccer star Megan Rapinoe, actress Priyanka Chopra and plus-size model Paloma Elsesser.

“Victoria’s Secret,” Malcolm said, “your performative ally ship is a joke.”

In her video, captioned, “too little too late Victoria’s Secret,” the model demonstrated how underweight she was when she took part in the 2016 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, her second and final overall. In the clip, she tries on a size 30A lace white Victoria’s Secret bra that she wore at the event.

“I am now a size 34B,” said the 5-foot-11-inch model, “which is healthy for me.”

She continued, “I was rejected from the show in 2017 by Ed Razek. He said ‘my body did not look good enough.'”

Razek served as marketing chief of Victoria’s Secret’s parent company L Brands from 1983 until his retirement in 2019. He could not be reached for comment and a rep for Victoria’s Secret had no immediate remarks about Bridget’s video when reached by E! News.

Malcolm continued, “I wore a size 30B at that point. Look how big it was on me. The sadness behind my eyes from the 2016 show breaks my heart.”

Victoria’s Secret’s recent brand makeover comes amid years of growing criticism of the retailer and changing attitudes about beauty standards and representation of women. In 2019, Razek left L Brands and the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show was canceled.

In 2020, Victoria’s Secret came under criticism again after The New York Times published an article about allegations of misogyny, bullying and harassment within the group. Razek told the newspaper the accusations described in the report were “categorically untrue, misconstrued or taken out of context.”

But a rep for L Brands did not dispute the reporting. They told The New York Times that the company “is intensely focused” on corporate governance, workplace and compliance practices and that it had “made significant strides.” The rep added, “We regret any instance where we did not achieve this objective and are fully committed to continuous improvement and complete accountability.”

Malcolm’s video is one of several she has posted in recent weeks in which she criticizes the fashion industry. In a TikTok clip shared on Tuesday, June 29, the model responded to fans’ questions about why she did not speak out sooner. She detailed her mental health struggles following past traumas—including being “sexually assaulted multiple times”—and experiencing pressure to meet modeling beauty standards.

She said she had been “told to do cocaine to lose weight” by people involved in her career. Bridget also said, “I’ve been told whilst I was underage to just have lots of sex to lose weight.”

“I was struggling with my gender identity,” she continued. “I’d developed anorexia and orthorexia and anxiety and depression. I couldn’t socialize without drinking and was developing quite the reliance on Xanax and Ambien in order to get me through the night. And that was before I turned 18.”

Malcolm said that on her 26th birthday, she suffered a “nervous breakdown,” adding, “I couldn’t leave my house for a year without panic attacks and severe anxiety. I also had a bout with suicidal ideations, which was terrifying. That was four years ago.”

“Today,” she said, “I am two-plus years sober. I’m four years in recovery from an eating disorder. I’m happy. I’m balanced and I’m strong and I feel the best I’ve ever felt. The reality is, I couldn’t talk about my experiences before I reached this point because I would have intense PTSD flashbacks, I would have panic attacks and I wouldn’t be OK. But I am OK now and that’s why I’m speaking out.”

The model continued, “The only reason why I am doing this is because I am a strong believer that the fashion industry needs to change. I am one of the lucky models. I was able to make a long career out of the fashion industry. My job should not include abuse and that is why I’m speaking out now.”

Jeffree Star is moving on from the drama by moving out of California.

The cosmetics mogul, 35, revealed he is selling his sprawling estate in Hidden Hills, Calif., which features eight bedrooms and 13 bathrooms. The property also includes a 4,700 sq. ft. garage to hold his car collection of Lamborghinis, Aston Martins and Bentleys. E! News confirms he listed the mansion for $20 million.

Instead, he’s making his second home in Wyoming his main residence going forward, Jeffree shared in a YouTube video on Tuesday, June 15.

“It’s time to also say goodbye to California for awhile,” he wrote in the caption. “I’m selling my giant house in LA, I’ve donated and sold all my clothes and I’m starting the next chapter of my life.”

In his latest video, the influencer acknowledged that he’s been going through “many major life changes” lately, ranging from drama within the beauty community and those debunked Kanye West rumors to his breakup with partner Nathan Schwandt and the death of his two beloved dogs. He also suffered a “broken” back after surviving a car accident in Wyoming in April.

“It’s time to address my mental health and be very transparent,” he said. “I’ve had so many silent personal struggles, public feuds and ALOT of mental trauma. Caused by ME, my past actions and people from my past. I’ve had TOO MUCH loss and have been slowly healing.”

Jeffree explained he’s been going to therapy for the first time since high school. “I’m finally ready to share that 2020 really almost took me out,” he continued on camera. “Last summer was one of the only times I’ve ever contemplated, ‘Should I be alive?’ And that was so heavy. What was my purpose?”

As he put it, “I just wanted to share what I was going through and it was god awful,” adding, “It came to a point where I really wanted to understand my brain, understand my emotions and get things under control. Why am I lashing out?”

He said a friend gave him a therapist’s number, which he stared at for months before making the call. “Once I started going through and processing everything… it was like cracking open a safe,” he recalled. “I’m leaving this in the best place… I’m actually in a really great place mentally. I feel like I’m thriving.”

The Beautiful World of Jeffree Star alum said he now feels “ready to stop being a single person in a 25,000-square-foot home,” noting, “Let a family enjoy this.”

“I need to have a new energy,” Jeffree explained. “So am I leaving California forever? Of course not. Am I moving to Wyoming as my main residency? Absolutely, I love it out there.”

He added “the taxes are beautiful” as well, but overall he’s come to realize that “the excess” of luxury in his life “was almost like hoarding in a way.”

“It feels so freeing to be able to let go of so much,” Jeffree shared.

Last week, the makeup guru gave an exclusive interview with E! News to reflect on his past year of ups and downs. Read it here.

How Ryan Reynolds' Daughters Inspired Him to Discuss His Mental Health Struggles

  • Ryan Reynolds recently opened up online about his struggles with anxiety. And now, he's explaining just how his three daughters encouraged him to publicly post his message.

Ryan Reynolds is hoping to set an example for his kids.

To mark Mental Health Awareness month in May, the Deadpool actor opened up about his own mental health struggles on Instagram in order to “destigmatize talking about it.”

Now, the 44-year-old star is explaining how his three daughtersJames, 6, Inez, 4, and Betty, 20 months—who he shares with his wife, Blake Lively, encouraged him to post his message in the first place.

“Part of it is that I have three daughters at home and part of my job as a parent is to model behaviors and model what it’s like to be sad and model what it’s like to be anxious, or angry. That there’s space for all these things,” Ryan told Entertainment Tonight‘s Nischelle Turner on Saturday, June 5. “The home that I grew in, that wasn’t modeled for me really. And that’s not to say that my parents were neglectful, but they come from a different generation.”

Furthermore, the Canadian native said that in order to “de-stigmatize things” surrounding mental health, you have to first “create a conversation.”

“I know that when I felt at the absolute bottom it’s usually been because I felt like I was alone in something I was feeling,” he explained. “So I think when people talk about it, I don’t necessarily dwell on it or lament on it, but I think it’s important to talk about it. And when you talk about it, it kind of sets other people free.”

At the end of last month, Ryan shared that he struggles with anxiety.

“May is almost over. It’s also Mental Health Awareness month. Which brings me to this,” he began his post at the time. “One of the reasons I’m posting this so late is I overschedule myself and important things slip. And one of the reasons I overschedule myself is my lifelong pal, anxiety.”

He continued, “I know I’m not alone and more importantly, to all those like me who overschedule, overthink, overwork, over-worry and over-everything, please know you’re not alone. We don’t talk enough about mental health and don’t do enough to destigmatize talking about it. But, as with this post, better later than never, I hope…”

In 2017, the Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard actor discussed his anxiety and how his upbringing may have contributed to his mental health struggles.

“I have three older brothers. Our father was tough. He wasn’t easy on anyone. And he wasn’t easy on himself,” Ryan, whose father died following a battle with Parkinson’s disease in 2015, told Variety. “I think the anxiety might have started there, trying to find ways to control others by trying to control myself. At the time, I never recognized that. I was just a twitchy kid.”

The following year, Ryan opened up to The New York Times about how working on Deadpool helped him cope with his anxiety.

“I have anxiety. I’ve always had anxiety. Both in the lighthearted ‘I’m anxious about this’ kind of thing, and I’ve been to the depths of the darker end of the spectrum, which is not fun,” he told the publication.

He explained that his comic book character allowed him to really disappear into his role, noting, “When the curtain opens, I turn on this knucklehead, and he kind of takes over and goes away again once I walk off set.”
