Marlon Wayans Recalls How Paris and Nicky Hilton Inspired White Chicks

  • Marlon Wayans, producer and writer of White Chicks, gave fans of the 2004 comedy a little inside scoop on how the movie came to life.
  • Marlon Wayans, writer, producer, and star of White Chicks, took movie buffs behind the film’s origin secrets.

The star shared a picture of himself and Paris Hilton posing together on his Instagram on June 30.

“The original ‘white chick’ and I…funny story one day my brother [Shawn Wayans] calls me at 3am saying ‘marlon we should play white chicks,'” the comedian wrote in the caption.

Marlon jokingly responded by asking his brother if he was “high.”

“The next day he showed me a magazine with @ParisHilton and her sister on the cover and said we should play gurls like this,” he recalled. “I immediately got it.”

“They were so big and was the gateway to pop culture send up,” Marlon explained. “We did that film in good spirit to celebrate a special time in all our lives.”

The star concluded by thanking the hotel heiresses.

“So thank you Paris and [Nicky Hilton] for being muses,” he wrote. “Love ya. When we do #whitechicks2 ‘let’s go shopping.'”

This wasn’t the first time Marlon mentioned the possibility of a sequel to the hit film.

When he appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Oct. 22, 2020, Marlon addressed the rumors that Terry Crews stirred up about a second film during his 2019 appearance on the late-night show.

“I actually got with Shawn,” Terry said. “And he was like, ‘Man we’re doing it. We’re getting it going.'”

Marlon replied a year later, joking, “Terry’s lying. But I ain’t going to say that to him because he’s too buff and I don’t want to get beat up.”

As for if White Chicks 2 is really happening?

“We’re working toward it,” Marlon continued. “I’ll let you know when it happens. But we’re moving slowly toward it…I like doing movies where I’m a Black man. It’s a lot less makeup.”

How Batwoman Inspired Javicia Leslie to Come Out to Her Mom as Bisexual

How Batwoman Inspired Javicia Leslie to Come Out to Her Mom as Bisexual

  • Javicia Leslie dished on her martial arts background, badass Batwoman persona and embracing her sexuality both onscreen and off. Watch the exclusive interview.
  • This caped crusader doesn’t wear a mask.

Batwoman star Javicia Leslie exclusively shared on E! News’ Daily Pop on June 24 just how much the CW series has changed her life. After stepping into the titular role earlier this year, Leslie gushed to co-hosts Justin Sylvester and Morgan Stewart about why the famed DC superhero inspired her off-screen to come out as bisexual to her mother.

Leslie’s Batwoman is part of LGBTQ+ community, and Leslie had more in common with her character than just her fighting skills. “For me, I never felt like I had to hide anything,” Leslie opened up. “That wasn’t really where I was coming from, I just hadn’t had a conversation so I just wanted to talk to my mom about it because I was living my life. I just wanted to be able to talk to her so she didn’t have to be told through the media.”

Additionally, Leslie hoped to inspire other fans to embrace their identities. “I wanted to be able to talk to kids about being their truest version of themselves,” Leslie continued. “And so the only way I could do that is to completely be who I am and be the truest version of myself.”

Yet, there is a double standard surrounding sexual orientation: “It’s also not fair, no one has to come out and say that they are straight,” Leslie continued. “Why does someone have to come out and say they’re anything else? Why can’t I just exist?”

Taking on the role of Batwoman was an easy decision for Leslie, who grew up “as a huge Batman fan.” She even had a mixed martial arts background!

“I already did that before I was hired for the job,” Leslie revealed. “It was more like I was able to speak the language when the stunt coordinators had to teach me the fights…It was really easy for us to be able to do things like this, really quickly.”

From donning the “epic” suit to being part of the “Batman family forever,” it’s clear Leslie loves her job. Watch the sweet interview above!

And tune in to the Batwoman season three finale on Sunday, June 27 on The CW.

  • Watch: Sofia Vergara & Heidi Klum Sign on as “America’s Got Talent” Judges

America’s Got Talent‘s 16th season got started with bang.

Judge Howie Mandel used the year’s first Golden Buzzer during the season premiere on Tuesday, June 1, awarding the honor to New York’s Northwell Health Nurse Choir. The collection of frontline workers performed an emotional mash-up of Bill Withers‘ “Lean on Me” and Ben E. King‘s “Stand by Me.”

Winnie Mele, a 64-year-old health professional, told viewers in a pre-recorded segment, “What makes this choir so special is, we’re all frontline nurses. You know, we’re not professional singers. We take care of patients.”

The 18-nurse ensemble then took the stage, and before they started singing, Winnie went on to tell the judges what they hope to accomplish during their time together.

“We know that there’s a lot of us out there that is still hurting,” she shared. “And we’re hoping to just shoot out some joy and some love, and to let them know that we found our resilience, and we’re hoping that they do as well.”

The performance clearly blew away all four judges, with Simon Cowell enthusing, “We need you, the world needs you. It’s going to touch a lot of people.” He added, “People are going to remember this audition—I’m going to remember this audition.”

Howie then told the choir, “One word comes to mind, and it’s heroic, in every way, and what a perfect song.” He then stood up and hit the Golden Buzzer, meaning this is the one act he is allowed to send directly to the next round.

As fans know, Howie has a solid track record with his choices. After all, his season 15 Golden Buzzer pick, spoken-word poet Brandon Leake, ended up as the season’s champ.

How Ryan Reynolds' Daughters Inspired Him to Discuss His Mental Health Struggles

How Ryan Reynolds' Daughters Inspired Him to Discuss His Mental Health Struggles

  • Ryan Reynolds recently opened up online about his struggles with anxiety. And now, he's explaining just how his three daughters encouraged him to publicly post his message.
  • Watch: Why Ryan Reynolds Is Ultimate Dad Goals!

Ryan Reynolds is hoping to set an example for his kids.

To mark Mental Health Awareness month in May, the Deadpool actor opened up about his own mental health struggles on Instagram in order to “destigmatize talking about it.”

Now, the 44-year-old star is explaining how his three daughtersJames, 6, Inez, 4, and Betty, 20 months—who he shares with his wife, Blake Lively, encouraged him to post his message in the first place.

“Part of it is that I have three daughters at home and part of my job as a parent is to model behaviors and model what it’s like to be sad and model what it’s like to be anxious, or angry. That there’s space for all these things,” Ryan told Entertainment Tonight‘s Nischelle Turner on Saturday, June 5. “The home that I grew in, that wasn’t modeled for me really. And that’s not to say that my parents were neglectful, but they come from a different generation.”

Furthermore, the Canadian native said that in order to “de-stigmatize things” surrounding mental health, you have to first “create a conversation.”

“I know that when I felt at the absolute bottom it’s usually been because I felt like I was alone in something I was feeling,” he explained. “So I think when people talk about it, I don’t necessarily dwell on it or lament on it, but I think it’s important to talk about it. And when you talk about it, it kind of sets other people free.”

At the end of last month, Ryan shared that he struggles with anxiety.

“May is almost over. It’s also Mental Health Awareness month. Which brings me to this,” he began his post at the time. “One of the reasons I’m posting this so late is I overschedule myself and important things slip. And one of the reasons I overschedule myself is my lifelong pal, anxiety.”

He continued, “I know I’m not alone and more importantly, to all those like me who overschedule, overthink, overwork, over-worry and over-everything, please know you’re not alone. We don’t talk enough about mental health and don’t do enough to destigmatize talking about it. But, as with this post, better later than never, I hope…”

In 2017, the Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard actor discussed his anxiety and how his upbringing may have contributed to his mental health struggles.

“I have three older brothers. Our father was tough. He wasn’t easy on anyone. And he wasn’t easy on himself,” Ryan, whose father died following a battle with Parkinson’s disease in 2015, told Variety. “I think the anxiety might have started there, trying to find ways to control others by trying to control myself. At the time, I never recognized that. I was just a twitchy kid.”

The following year, Ryan opened up to The New York Times about how working on Deadpool helped him cope with his anxiety.

“I have anxiety. I’ve always had anxiety. Both in the lighthearted ‘I’m anxious about this’ kind of thing, and I’ve been to the depths of the darker end of the spectrum, which is not fun,” he told the publication.

He explained that his comic book character allowed him to really disappear into his role, noting, “When the curtain opens, I turn on this knucklehead, and he kind of takes over and goes away again once I walk off set.”
