Former Victoria's Secret Model Bridget Malcolm Slams Brand While Recalling Personal Struggles

Former Victoria's Secret Model Bridget Malcolm Slams Brand While Recalling Personal Struggles

  • Ex-Victoria's Secret Model Bridget Malcolm released a scathing video criticizing the retailer, using a bra from a 2016 fashion show to to show how underweight she was allegedly pressured to become.

Former Victoria’s Secret model Bridget Malcolm has criticized the retailer’s recent brand makeover in a scathing video, in which she uses one of their bras to demonstrate how underweight she was allegedly pressured to become to walk in one of its annual fashion shows.

The 29-year-old made her comments on TikTok on Sunday, June 27, more than a week after the lingerie and apparel group ended its “Angels” brand, represented by its top models such as Adriana Lima, Behati Prinsloo and Candice Swanepoel, and announced a new roster of women as the public faces of the group, including soccer star Megan Rapinoe, actress Priyanka Chopra and plus-size model Paloma Elsesser.

“Victoria’s Secret,” Malcolm said, “your performative ally ship is a joke.”

In her video, captioned, “too little too late Victoria’s Secret,” the model demonstrated how underweight she was when she took part in the 2016 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, her second and final overall. In the clip, she tries on a size 30A lace white Victoria’s Secret bra that she wore at the event.

“I am now a size 34B,” said the 5-foot-11-inch model, “which is healthy for me.”

She continued, “I was rejected from the show in 2017 by Ed Razek. He said ‘my body did not look good enough.'”

Razek served as marketing chief of Victoria’s Secret’s parent company L Brands from 1983 until his retirement in 2019. He could not be reached for comment and a rep for Victoria’s Secret had no immediate remarks about Bridget’s video when reached by E! News.

Malcolm continued, “I wore a size 30B at that point. Look how big it was on me. The sadness behind my eyes from the 2016 show breaks my heart.”

Victoria’s Secret’s recent brand makeover comes amid years of growing criticism of the retailer and changing attitudes about beauty standards and representation of women. In 2019, Razek left L Brands and the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show was canceled.

In 2020, Victoria’s Secret came under criticism again after The New York Times published an article about allegations of misogyny, bullying and harassment within the group. Razek told the newspaper the accusations described in the report were “categorically untrue, misconstrued or taken out of context.”

But a rep for L Brands did not dispute the reporting. They told The New York Times that the company “is intensely focused” on corporate governance, workplace and compliance practices and that it had “made significant strides.” The rep added, “We regret any instance where we did not achieve this objective and are fully committed to continuous improvement and complete accountability.”

Malcolm’s video is one of several she has posted in recent weeks in which she criticizes the fashion industry. In a TikTok clip shared on Tuesday, June 29, the model responded to fans’ questions about why she did not speak out sooner. She detailed her mental health struggles following past traumas—including being “sexually assaulted multiple times”—and experiencing pressure to meet modeling beauty standards.

She said she had been “told to do cocaine to lose weight” by people involved in her career. Bridget also said, “I’ve been told whilst I was underage to just have lots of sex to lose weight.”

“I was struggling with my gender identity,” she continued. “I’d developed anorexia and orthorexia and anxiety and depression. I couldn’t socialize without drinking and was developing quite the reliance on Xanax and Ambien in order to get me through the night. And that was before I turned 18.”

Malcolm said that on her 26th birthday, she suffered a “nervous breakdown,” adding, “I couldn’t leave my house for a year without panic attacks and severe anxiety. I also had a bout with suicidal ideations, which was terrifying. That was four years ago.”

“Today,” she said, “I am two-plus years sober. I’m four years in recovery from an eating disorder. I’m happy. I’m balanced and I’m strong and I feel the best I’ve ever felt. The reality is, I couldn’t talk about my experiences before I reached this point because I would have intense PTSD flashbacks, I would have panic attacks and I wouldn’t be OK. But I am OK now and that’s why I’m speaking out.”

The model continued, “The only reason why I am doing this is because I am a strong believer that the fashion industry needs to change. I am one of the lucky models. I was able to make a long career out of the fashion industry. My job should not include abuse and that is why I’m speaking out now.”

Former Prison Guard Revisits Inappropriate Relationship With Convicted Child Killer Susan Smith

Former Prison Guard Revisits Inappropriate Relationship With Convicted Child Killer Susan Smith

  • In a sneak peek of Lifetime's Cellmate Secrets: Susan Smith, the cellmates and lover of the convicted murderer recall how manipulative she was and the impact it had on their own lives.
  • In October 1994, Susan Smith called South Carolina police claiming her two sons, 3-year-old Michael and 14-month-old Alex, were kidnapped when a Black man stole her car.

However, after a nine-day search, Susan confessed she was responsible for the deaths of her two boys. According to NBC News, she told investigators she had strapped Michael and Alex into their car seats, before pushing her Mazda into a nearby lake with the kids still inside of it.

Susan was convicted of Michael and Alex’s murders in 1995 and sentenced to life in prison.

She was subsequently taken to the Camille Griffin Graham Correctional Institution and later the Leath Correctional Institution, where she met Afred Rowe, who was one of the two prison guards she had an “inappropriate” relationship with.

In the upcoming Lifetime series Cellmate Secrets: Susan Smith, Alfred and his wife Elizabeth Rowe discuss how their lives were “turned upside down” by his affair with Susan, who is described as “manipulative.”

Alfred confessed to having a sexual relationship with Susan in 2003. Following his admission, the prison guard was sentenced to five years probation.

Additionally, Susan’s former prison cellmates Stephanie Hulsey and Christie Smith discuss the time they served alongside the now-49-year-old inmate. They tell Lifetime they were manipulated into helping Susan carry out sexual affairs with other individuals, and describe how she coerced others into getting her drugs.

According to NBC News, Susan wrote a letter to The State reporter Harrison Cahill in 2015, in which she said, “I am not the monster society thinks I am.”

As Susan told Harrison, she was not in her “right mind” when she killed her two sons, writing, “There was no motive as it was not even a planned event.”

Furthermore, she stated that contrary to prior reports, she did not kill her two boys so she could be with a man, whom told her he didn’t want any children. She said, “The thing that hurts me the most is that people think I hurt my children in order to be with a man… That is so far from the truth.”

Braunwyn WindhamBurke Confirms She's Dating Former RHOC Star Fernanda Rocha

  • After announcing her departure from The Real Housewives of Orange County, Braunwyn Windham-Burke exclusively announced she's dating a new woman to E! News. Find out all the details.
  • Watch: Heather Dubrow Returns to “RHOC” as Kelly, Braunwyn & Elizabeth Exit

    Starting a new chapter.

After it was announced that Braunwyn Windham-Burke would not be returning to The Real Housewives of Orange County on June 15, the mother of seven is ready to break her silence on another RHOC alum. And no, it’s not Kelly Dodd

Windham-Burke exclusively spoke with E! News at the GUARDaHEART Foundation’s Unmasked Heart Disease event over the weekend and confirmed her relationship with RHOC season six star Fernanda Rocha.

“We have been hanging out,” Braunwyn gushed. “We are close and she’s been an amazing support to me. I’m glad I met her. I will say this: There have been some rumors about when we went from being friends to a little bit more than friends. It was after she got divorced so there’s nothing salacious like that happening. We’ve been hanging out for awhile. We didn’t become more than friends until recently. She’s definitely special.”

While Braunwyn was hesitant to put a label on their love, she stated that they are “definitely dating.”

Braunwyn was previously linked to girlfriend Kris after coming out as a lesbian in December 2020; the couple split in April 2021.

“She is a very steady, very spiritual, very level-headed force,” Braunwyn ravved about “caring and nurturing” fitness instructor girlfriend Fernanda.

“I have a tendency to spiral into over the top emotions as anyone in a reality show should, and she brings me back down to center,” Braunwyn continued. “She’s really brought out a softer side of me. I’ve been in the same relationship for most of my life so she’s taught me about compromise and meeting someone in the middle. I haven’t really dated much because I’ve been with Sean [Burke] since I was 18. But she’s just been patient and understanding and we’re having a great time.”

As for her RHOC exit, Braunwyn noted that she is still “confused” after the news. “I would have loved to showcase a healthy, lesbian relationship,” the star explained. “I think it’s way past time.”

Braunwyn previously made waves with her statement that she would be “heartbroken” if husband Sean fell for someone else, but today she hopes he also finds happiness.

“I would love for Sean to find someone,” Braunwyn clarified. “It’s one of the reasons that we know we have to go in a different direction, but we’ll always be a family…What I have with Fernanda is what I want him to have with someone else. It took me awhile to get there, but we’ve been together for 26 years.”

Braunwyn’s coming out affected her marriage: “Regardless if I’m gay or straight, it was still hard,” she continued. “There was a grieving process. We’re working through it and we’re on the other side of a lot of things.”

Yet, there is no rush for Braunwyn and Sean to divorce.

“There’s no reason to,” the former RHOC star added. “We’re not fighting. We’re getting along…We have been together 26 years so we’re not in any rush to get divorced. Eventually, maybe one of us will want to get remarried and of course that would happen. For me, this is the reality version of modern family. We are creating something that we haven’t seen. You can be married outside the box and have it work as long as you’re happy.”

Fired Hillsong Pastor Carl Lentz Denies Former Nanny's Sexual Abuse Claims

Fired Hillsong Pastor Carl Lentz Denies Former Nanny's Sexual Abuse Claims

  • "I was physically violated by his unwanted and repeated sexual touching of my intimate areas. I froze. Every time, I froze," Leona Kimes alleged of Carl Lentz, who she previously worked for.
  • Watch: Elizabeth Olsen Just Casually Revealed She’s Married

Seven months after Carl Lentz was fired from the megachurch Hillsong, new allegations about him have come to light.

Hillsong Church Boston co-pastor Leona Kimes, who previously worked as a nanny for the disgraced pastor and his family, claims she was “subjected to manipulation, control, bullying, abuse of power, and sexual abuse” in Lentz’s home over the course of seven years.

On Monday, May 31, Kimes published an essay titled “Writing My Voice Back” on Medium, in which she made accusations against the former Hillsong pastor. Although Kimes didn’t identify Lentz by name in her story, she confirmed her accusations were about him in a statement to Religion News Service.

“I felt trapped and silenced. I also felt so ashamed and I had been told not to say anything or tell anyone,” she told the outlet.

Following Kimes’ claims, a legal rep for Carl and his wife, Laura Lentz, told Religion News Service they both “vehemently deny the allegations and, in addition to that, have irrefutable proof the events did not happen as they are being described.”

E! News has reached out to the couple’s rep and attorney for comment. However, we have yet to receive a response.

In her essay, Kimes described her work environment with Lentz and his family before she moved to Boston, where she now serves as a pastor alongside her husband. While working as a nanny for the family for seven years, Kimes explained that she not only took care of Lentz’s kids, but she cleaned their house, as well as ran errands for them.

While Kimes explained “there were joyful moments,” she also claimed that she “experienced a great deal of pain.”

As she put it, “The boundaries between personal and professional blurred early on, and an unhealthy bond and attachment was formed.”

Kimes alleged the “sexual abuse started small,” noting that Lentz would make comments about her appearance. “My pastor would look at me and say, ‘Gurl, you’re looking good. You’ve been in the gym?'” she claimed. “There was a lot of flirty teasing like this.”

Carl Lentz, Laura LentzCharley Gallay/Getty Images

Additionally, Kimes accused the former pastor of “crossing more boundaries.”

“When I was sitting in the hot tub with the kids, he would get in, positioning himself close to me so his hands could graze my legs,” she recalled of one incident.

“Then the physical encounters escalated,” she explained. “While he never had intercourse with me and never kissed me, I was physically violated by his unwanted and repeated sexual touching of my intimate areas. I froze. Every time, I froze.”

Kimes said Lentz’s “inappropriate touching and suggestive text messages were addressed by both lead pastors on two occasions during my time serving in their home.” But despite coming forward, Kimes alleged that she was “blamed and silenced” in both instances.

Following Kimes’ claims, Hillsong Church founders Brian and Bobbie Houston issued a statement, which read in part, “After the termination of the former Lead Pastor of Hillsong East Coast, it was clear the issues were significant and because of our concerns, we initiated an independent and lengthy investigation into the culture of all four Hillsong East Coast locations.”

“In the process of seeking clarity, hearing Leona Kimes’ experience was very disturbing,” the statement continued. “We have respected Leona’s privacy and her deeply personal story. She has now decided to share her experience so that she and her husband can continue moving forward as a family.”

The founders said they are “committed to learning more about how to identify such trauma and bring meaningful support to anyone who has experienced it.”

    Slaven Vlasic/Getty Images

Ultimately, Kimes said she was fired from her nanny role in the summer of 2017 after telling Lentz she was going to find another job.

“I can’t forget how he took away my confidence. I can’t forget how he took away my voice,” she wrote. “I can’t forget about the days I laid in bed that year believing that I didn’t deserve to be on this earth and entertaining ideas of how to end it all. Unfortunately, I can’t forget any of it.”

She added, “Even though I can’t forget it, I believe I can use it to become stronger. Through intense therapy, I now recognize that it wasn’t my fault. I didn’t fail. Church didn’t fail me. God didn’t fail me. Man did.”

After being fired from Hillsong, Lentz admitted to infinitely.

In a statement shared on Nov. 5, 2020, he stated, “I was unfaithful in my marriage, the most important relationship in my life and held accountable for that,” the pastor stated. “This failure is on me, and me alone and I take full responsibility for my actions.”

Former MakeAWish Iowa CEO Pleads Guilty to Embezzling Funds

  • Former Make-A-Wish Iowa CEO Jennifer Woodley has pleaded guilty to embezzling almost $41,000 from the organization.

The former CEO of the Iowa branch of the Make-A-Wish Foundation has pleaded guilty to embezzling tens of thousands of dollars from the charity, which helps children with serious medical conditions such as cancer.

According to court records viewed by E! News, Jennifer Woodley, 40, submitted a written guilty plea to two counts of first-degree theft and one count of fraudulent practices on May 27 and a judge accepted it on Tuesday, June 1. She admitted in her filing that she made unauthorized charges on a charity credit card, gave herself an unapproved bonus and salary increases and made false entries into records related to those expenses, the Associated Press reported on Wednesday, June 2.

“We appreciate that the Iowa legal system resolved this matter with an agreement that includes restitution,” Make-A-Wish said in a statement to E! News on Thursday, June 3. “As always, we remain committed to ensuring that donations to Make-A-Wish are safeguarded and properly used to advance our vision of granting the wish of every eligible child fighting a critical illness.”

Woodley allegedly embezzled almost $41,000 since she became the president and CEO of the Iowa branch of the national charity in 2019, the Associated Press said. In July 2020, the group dismissed her after discovering financial irregularities during an internal compliance review.

Prosecutors are set to recommend Woodley be put on probation for five years under a plea deal, the Associated Press said on Wednesday. A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for July 20.

One of Woodley’s four children, her eldest daughter Molly, is a Make-A-Wish recipient. The little girl, who was born premature at 24 weeks and underwent brain surgery when she was younger, was granted a wish from the national charity to go to Disney World several years ago, The Des Moines Register reported.

Local mom Amy Nesbitt, whose toddler daughter Aila was diagnosed with leukemia about two years ago and who was also promised a Disney World trip by the organization, told Iowa CBS affiliate KCCI in response to the news about Woodley’s crime, “I have no words. Taking advantage of all of the family and friends and volunteers and companies that are donating their time and effort to make this happen for these families, it’s honestly, just sickening.”

Why This Former Bond Girl Says She "Ruined" Her Face With Cosmetic Surgery

  • Swedish actress and 1974 Bond girl Britt Ekland explained why she regrets getting a lip augmentation, going as far to describe the procedure as the "biggest mistake" of her life.
  • Britt Ekland, James BondShutterstock

Bond girl Britt Ekland has a cautionary tale about going under the knife.

The Swedish actress, who starred in the 1974 James Bond film The Man With the Golden Gun, told Platinum Magazine in a recent interview that she’s sworn off plastic surgery after undergoing a “lip-plumping” procedure in her younger years.

“Everyone has the right to choose,” Ekland explained to the outlet. “I did all of that in my 50s, but wouldn’t consider it again. I have no desire to look any different than I am.”

According to Platinum, the 78-year-old star described the lip augmentation as the “biggest mistake” of her life. “It felt like I’d ruined my face,” she admitted.

In fact, Ekland has no interest in continuing her search for the Fountain of Youth. Describing herself as a “complete realist,” the Get Carter star explained, “I’m not a dreamer, and getting older happens to everyone. It’s pointless complaining about it or wishing you could change. We’re all going in one direction and there is nothing we can do about that. It’s just about looking after yourself while on that journey.”

It took time for Ekland to reach this mindset, however. During a 2016 appearance on British talk show Loose Women, the star said she endured a “very, very traumatic” period following the procedure.

    Britt Ekland, James BondDanjaq/Eon/Ua/Kobal/Shutterstock

As Ekland recalled, “I’ve had to live with newspapers printing horrible pictures of me. They don’t understand that the man who did this used me as some sort of experiment and destroyed [my lips]. For a really long time I couldn’t do television or films.”

Of her experience in the spotlight, which also included a highly-publicized marriage to actor-comedian Peter Sellers in the ’60s, Ekland said she’ll always cherish her time as a Bond girl

“The 1974 James Bond film The Man With The Golden Gun has to be top of my list because it’s a Bond film,” Ekland told Platinum. “In fact, the Bond franchise has been a constant throughout my life. Being a Bond girl has, in many ways, been the gift which never stops giving. It has offered me nothing but joy.”

“First, thank you for all of the well wishes I’ve received over the last few days,” the General Hospital actress began her Instagram post on Sunday, June 6. “Little bit of info for those who are wondering…I spent the last few years having random health issues that I disregarded as side affects [sic] to my medications or just something I was experiencing due to age.”

The former Disney Channel star then explained that she got an MRI after suffering from “severe neck pain,” which she believed caused her “frequent migraines.” She said her doctor to do an MRI on her head, noting, “That’s when we stumbled upon a rather large, very full of fluid, cyst that was attached to the lower portion of brain.”

“I feel very fortunate that my situation wasn’t more serious and that I had a wonderful neurosurgeon who immediately knew how to fix it,” Kirsten shared. “I’m not gonna lie, brain surgery had me nervous, but I’m immensely thankful to my family, friends, and incredible ‘work family’ who have been supportive, kind and loving during a time when I’ve been feeling a lot of emotions.”

The ZenonGirl of the 21st Century actress took to Instagram Stories on Friday, June 4 to give her followers an update on her health. During her videos, Kirsten not only appeared in good spirits, but explained that she had surgery earlier this week, so she’s on the road to recovery.

“Sorry for the shock you guys,” the 37-year-old actress captioned her post, which showed her wearing a neck brace.

“There really is no filter that’s going to make this better for me right now,” she shared in her first Instagram Story video, adding, “I’ve not really spoken about this much or at all actually. Less than 48 hours ago, I had brain surgery, hence the neck brace. It was on the lower portion of my brain.”

“Em is taking care of me until I get to my at-home nurse,” she said, referring to her friend and former General Hospital co-star Emme Rylan. “It’s been an interesting last couple of days.”

Kirsten went on to explain the reason for her surgery, explaining to her followers, “What they had to drain and remove was not cancer. I want to clarify that right now before the internet goes crazy wild with rumors about this.”

She added, “I had a very large cyst that had split into two and the doctor said it was, like, so full, the pressure was very noticeable when they opened up my skull. It sounds so weird.”

As she begins the healing process, the General Hospital actress said she’s taking time off before returning to work. If anything, she plans to take advantage of this free time to knit.

“I will be on the mend for the next several weeks, but I will be back at work when this is over with,” Kirsten noted, with Emme interjecting, “I think you can take a moment.”

Before signing off, she pointed out that she “had the surgery a couple of days ago, so, yes, I was in the hospital for a few days. We’re not taking me straight home right after brain surgery.”
