Los Angeles Dodgers Star Trevor Bauer Slams "Baseless" Sexual Assault Allegation

Los Angeles Dodgers Star Trevor Bauer Slams "Baseless" Sexual Assault Allegation

  • Police tell E! News they are investigating an allegation of sexual assault against Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer, and the star's agent dismisses the claim as "baseless."

Los Angeles Dodgers standout Trevor Bauer is the subject of an investigation surrounding an allegation of sexual assault.

The Pasadena Police Department is “looking into allegations of assault” against the 2020 Cy Young Award winner, an officer told E! News on Tuesday, June 29.

Attorney Marc Garelick, who is representing the accuser, told E! News in a statement that his client has obtained a domestic violence restraining order against Bauer. According to the attorney’s statement, the order resulted from an alleged “recent assault” that caused the woman “severe physical and emotional pain.”

His statement continued, “Our goal is to keep Mr. Bauer from contacting our client in any way possible. We anticipate there will be criminal action against Mr. Bauer, and it is our hope law enforcement will take our client’s allegations and case seriously.”

In response to the investigation, the pitcher’s agent, Jon Fetterolf, released a statement to NBC News saying his client had a “brief and wholly consensual sexual relationship” with the individual that began in April 2021 and included two in-person encounters.

“We have messages that show [the accuser] repeatedly asking for ‘rough’ sexual encounters involving requests to be ‘choked out’ and slapped in the face,” the statement continued. “In both of their encounters, [she] drove from San Diego to Mr. Bauer’s residence in Pasadena, Calif., where she went on to dictate what she wanted from him sexually, and he did what was asked.”

According to the sports agent, the woman messaged the pitcher “with friendly and flirtatious banter” after both encounters. Additionally, Fetterolf stated that, days after the second encounter, the woman sent pics of herself to Bauer and “indicated that she had sought medical care for a concussion.” This led Bauer to express “concern and confusion,” according to his rep’s statement, and the woman “was neither angry nor accusatory.”

Bauer’s agent added that the woman and the 30-year-old athlete have “not corresponded in over a month” and haven’t “seen each other in over six weeks.”

The statement continued, “Her basis for filing a protection order is nonexistent, fraudulent and deliberately omits key facts, information and her own relevant communications. Any allegations that the pair’s encounters were not 100 percent consensual are baseless, defamatory and will be refuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

Bauer, a 2018 All-Star, signed a three-year deal with the reigning World Series champion Dodgers during the offseason earlier this year. He was previously a member of the Cincinnati Reds, where he became the franchise’s first player to win the Cy Young, awarded to Major League Baseball‘s best pitcher.

The Bachelorette's Katie Thurston Shares She's a Sexual Assault Survivor

The Bachelorette's Katie Thurston Shares She's a Sexual Assault Survivor

  • During an emotional episode of The Bachelorette, Katie Thurston told the contestants on a group date that she's a survivor of sexual assault.
  • The Bachelorette star Katie Thurston opened up during the latest episode about being a survivor of sexual assault.

On Monday, June 21, during a tense group date that involved the contestants sharing moments from their past that they regret, Katie then proved she was similarly ready to be vulnerable by describing an incident of sexual trauma she experienced 10 years ago. In recalling the assault, she revealed she had yet to even tell her mom about it.

“I know you see me today as this very sex-positive woman who’s very confident, but she hasn’t always been here,” Katie said. “Ten years ago, it was New Year’s Eve, and I had been drinking. I was involved in a situation where there wasn’t consent, and that is not something I wish upon anybody. And I was in denial about what happened, so much so that I tried to form a relationship with him because I didn’t wanna believe what actually had happened.”

The 30-year-old reality TV star, who was famous for bringing a sex toy on Matt James‘ season of The Bachelor, went on to say that this experience led her to have a “very unhealthy relationship” with sex.

“I didn’t want to have sex, which affects the relationship,” she recalled. “I didn’t like talking about sex. And it’s taken me a long time to get to where I am now in being open and comfortable talking about it and loving myself and accepting things that I can no longer control. And I just want you guys to know that I’ve come a long way in who I was 10 years ago, and how important consent is, how important communication is.”

She also participated in an episode of the podcast Talking It Out that posted that evening, where she told Bachelor Nation’s Mike Johnson and Bryan Abasolo that she hadn’t initially intended to share this story with the group.

“As we all sat there and started to open up, it actually became this very intimate setting of being vulnerable and sharing these very deep stories that are personal to each of us in our own way,” Katie explained. “Going into it, I didn’t think I was going to ever share something like that.”

She continued, “But after hearing these men just really open up and cry…I just felt so comforted and supported in this safe circle, and I just had to let them know my story.”

Jen Harley encountered some trouble with the law over the weekend in Las Vegas.

The Jersey Shore Family Vacation alum was arrested for alleged misdemeanor domestic violence and felony assault with a deadly weapon on Saturday, June 19, in Las Vegas, where she lives, E! News confirmed via court records.

She is no longer in police custody as she was released on bond. E! News has not confirmed the victim’s identity.

Per the criminal division of the Las Vegas Justice Court, the state has not filed charges yet, and Jen has two upcoming court dates on Aug. 18 and 19 for each case.

E! News has reached out to her attorney and manager for comment and has not heard back.

On the day of Jen’s arrest, her 3-year-old daughter Ariana Sky Magro was with her ex, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, as he celebrated a major milestone in his new relationship. The reality star proposed to his now-fiancée, Saffire Matos, at a Southern California beach, according to a source.

“[His daughter] Ariana, Ron’s mom and step-dad were there for the engagement at the Los Angeles beach on Saturday,” a source close to Ronnie told E! News.

Thais Campano, from the party planning company Event Factory, shared details of the romantic moment, explaining that the engagement was “boho style” with “red rose petals on the sand and the marry me letters.” Thais went on, “They had sushi from a private chef and non-alcoholic champagne. He hired a videographer to get the entire experience and he popped the question during the romantic photo shoot.”

However, he is currently in the midst of his own legal issues. Ronnie was arrested in April on charges of intimate partner violence with injury (a second source close to him said the alleged incident did not involve Jen.)

In May, the LA City Attorney’s office told E! News it filed a probation violation against him, with his probation hearing set for June 29 in Los Angeles.

Ronnie’s attorneys said they will look over the alleged probation violation “and deal with it accordingly.”

The lawyers then revealed he would be getting medical treatment for “psychological issues that he has ignored for a long time,” adding, “His only present goal is to address these issues professionally and make himself [a] better person and the best father he can be to his loving daughter.”

After his engagement this weekend, the first source shared, “Ron has been working hard on his mental health and has finished his program at the health and wellness center that he was spending time at.”

The first insider noted that Saffire “has been really supportive of his recovery and is looking forward to the next chapter of their journey.”
