See the Exact DM Blake Moynes Sent to Katie Thurston Before The Bachelorette

See the Exact DM Blake Moynes Sent to Katie Thurston Before The Bachelorette

  • Blake Moynes joined Katie Thurston’s season of The Bachelorette late, but he already had a head start in her DMs. Here’s what he said.

Blake Moynes spilled all the dirty secrets on his pre-show conversations with The Bachelorette‘s Katie Thurston.

The 29-year-old contestant, who competed on Clare Crawley and Tayshia Adams‘ season in 2020, came clean about the content of his social media exchanges with Katie ahead of the show.

“It was right after her first episode, it was right away,” Blake said about reaching out to Katie during Matt James‘ season of The Bachelor on the Click Bait podcast. “This is where people, I think, can take what I’m about to say one way or another.”

“She came out of that limo with that vibrator, I was like, ‘Yeah, I like what she’s about,'” he confessed, describing what prompted him to DM her. “It’s not about the fact that she had a f–king vibrator.”

The reality show contestant continued, “It’s the fact that she had the balls to have fun with it, and go with it, and go with the flow.”

Blake was attracted to Katie’s confidence and felt like they had similar vibes.

“It was a simple reach out,” he said, recalling his first message to Katie. “It was like, ‘I f–king love that you did that. That was f–king awesome, like, good for you,’ this and that.”

He denied that his first message asserted any statement of being “super into” Katie.

“When I actually reached out that first time, after the first episode, her responses were very cold back,” he revealed. “She was nice, but she didn’t open up her dialogue in any way. It was shut down right then and there.”

He said he “left” things “alone,” but started thinking more and more about pursuing her on the show once there were rumors Katie was the next lead.

“‘What if I just f–king do this and show up,'” he recalled thinking to himself, despite not loving his initial experience on the show.

After hearing that ABC officially announced Katie as the bachelorette, he decided to give it a try and go on The Bachelorette again. Viewers saw Blake show up on the June 28 episode, and it was clear that he had an instant connection with Katie.

  • Katie Thurston puts pressure on one of her suitors after opening a surprise envelope during the upcoming episode of The Bachelorette

As seen in E! News’ exclusive promo for the episode that airs on Monday, July 5, the Bachelorette goes on a one-on-one date with Andrew Spencer. Andrew has become a fan favorite after defending Katie’s ability to make her own decisions in light of the Thomas drama on the most recent episode.

In the clip, the standout from Matt James‘ season of The Bachelor surprises Andrew by plugging in a string of lights that reveal a number of secret envelopes hanging just out of reach from the tree branches. She then reads from a note informing the couple that each envelope “contains something that will bring you closer together.”

After getting a boost from the football player to grab the first message, she shares its message aloud. “Would you rather tell the truth and hurt your partner, or lie and not hurt your partner?” Katie asks while reading from the card.

Andrew instantly responds that he’d rather tell the truth, which leads Katie to put him in a situation that might cause him to doubt his decision. “Does this make me look fat?” she asks, and he follows up with, “No! Shut up!”

The athlete then tells the camera during a confessional, “Her personality is so infectious—her smile, her touch is driving me a little crazy right now.”

Bachelorette Katie Thurston Defends Letting Blake Moynes Crash Her Season After They Flirted in the DMs

Bachelorette Katie Thurston Defends Letting Blake Moynes Crash Her Season After They Flirted in the DMs

  • Katie Thurston surprised The Bachelorette viewers by not only having chatted pre-show with Bachelor Nation's Blake Moynes, but then allowing him to compete for her roses.
  • Watch: Nick Viall’s Warning to “Bachelorette” Katie Thurston

The latest episode of The Bachelorette introduced a new contestant who is a familiar face for Bachelor Nation—and, surprisingly, this isn’t the first time Katie Thurston has interacted with him, either.

Most of the drama throughout the Monday, June 28 episode focused on lingering tension involving Thomas, especially with Tre telling Katie that the unpopular contestant admitted he wanted to be the Bachelor. Thomas appeared to have talked Katie into keeping him on the show, but she ultimately cut him in dramatic fashion when she called his name at the rose ceremony before chastising him as “selfish, unkind and a liar,” and then letting him go. Ouch.

Amid all that, she also learned that a guy from Tayshia Adams‘ past was interested in joining the season midway through, and viewers eventually found out it was Blake Moynes. As fans recall, he competed for both Tayshia and Clare Crawley‘s affections last year on The Bachelorette, ultimately making it to Tayshia’s final eight guys.

When he finally surprised Katie by showing up, he apologized for throwing a “wrench” into her plans but explained he “knew this was the only way” he’d get to meet her.

“I’ve been pretty vocal, I think, from the beginning, as soon as you stepped out of that limo, about what I thought about you,” Blake told her, referencing her time on Matt James‘ season of The Bachelor. “You intrigued me, and you continued to, all through everything that you did on that season. Your openness, you’re bold, you’re confident, but you have this playfulness to you, and a humor that I can really relate to, for sure.”

Katie confirmed during her confessional that there was a preexisting connection between the two of them, which is reminiscent of Blake also having sent DMs to Clare before he began filming her season. Additionally, Katie expressed she was having trouble figuring out what to do, given that she knew the other guys would be unhappy to see Blake show up, not to mention this would be the third Bachelorette who Blake has wooed.

“I’m, like, so flustered right now,” Katie told the camera. “I, obviously, have seen Blake on Tayshia’s season. In fact, Blake and I have talked through the DMs. Blake reached out to commend me for my bold personality. And, I mean, he’s a very handsome guy.”

Ultimately, she told Blake she would let him know at a later time whether he’d be allowed to participate in the season. But after disposing of Thomas, the star told the camera about Blake, “My gut’s telling me, ‘Explore this,’ and I have to follow my heart.”

After surprising Blake at his room, Katie told him, “For me, I have to really follow my gut and everything, and given where things are at and how I’m feeling, if you wanna stay, I’d like you to join and see if this becomes something.”

Blake, of course, was delighted, and he learned he would be moving into the house the following day. Based on previews for next week’s episode, Blake is not going to be a welcome presence among the other guys.

For her part, Katie has yet to post about Blake on social media since the episode aired on the East Coast. However, Blake shared plenty of his own thoughts to Twitter as the action played out.

    ABC/Craig Sjodin

“F–k I feel pressure,” he tweeted just after the start of the episode. Ivan Hall, a fellow standout from Tayshia’s season, replied, “Built for this [flexing emoji],” leading Blake to respond with a fist-bump emoji.

As to be expected, viewers posted plenty of quips to social media about Blake returning to the show. One fan tweeted, “So Blake has been ready to marry 3 women since the start of the pandemic and I haven’t even committed to going back to the office yet.”

Another individual posted, “When the guys think Thomas is their problem and then Blake Moynes walks in,” adding a meme of a confused child.

The Bachelorette's Katie Thurston Shares She's a Sexual Assault Survivor

The Bachelorette's Katie Thurston Shares She's a Sexual Assault Survivor

  • During an emotional episode of The Bachelorette, Katie Thurston told the contestants on a group date that she's a survivor of sexual assault.
  • The Bachelorette star Katie Thurston opened up during the latest episode about being a survivor of sexual assault.

On Monday, June 21, during a tense group date that involved the contestants sharing moments from their past that they regret, Katie then proved she was similarly ready to be vulnerable by describing an incident of sexual trauma she experienced 10 years ago. In recalling the assault, she revealed she had yet to even tell her mom about it.

“I know you see me today as this very sex-positive woman who’s very confident, but she hasn’t always been here,” Katie said. “Ten years ago, it was New Year’s Eve, and I had been drinking. I was involved in a situation where there wasn’t consent, and that is not something I wish upon anybody. And I was in denial about what happened, so much so that I tried to form a relationship with him because I didn’t wanna believe what actually had happened.”

The 30-year-old reality TV star, who was famous for bringing a sex toy on Matt James‘ season of The Bachelor, went on to say that this experience led her to have a “very unhealthy relationship” with sex.

“I didn’t want to have sex, which affects the relationship,” she recalled. “I didn’t like talking about sex. And it’s taken me a long time to get to where I am now in being open and comfortable talking about it and loving myself and accepting things that I can no longer control. And I just want you guys to know that I’ve come a long way in who I was 10 years ago, and how important consent is, how important communication is.”

She also participated in an episode of the podcast Talking It Out that posted that evening, where she told Bachelor Nation’s Mike Johnson and Bryan Abasolo that she hadn’t initially intended to share this story with the group.

“As we all sat there and started to open up, it actually became this very intimate setting of being vulnerable and sharing these very deep stories that are personal to each of us in our own way,” Katie explained. “Going into it, I didn’t think I was going to ever share something like that.”

She continued, “But after hearing these men just really open up and cry…I just felt so comforted and supported in this safe circle, and I just had to let them know my story.”

The Bachelorette's Katie Thurston Responds to Thomas Admitting Goal of Becoming the Bachelor

The Bachelorette's Katie Thurston Responds to Thomas Admitting Goal of Becoming the Bachelor

  • After The Bachelorette contestant Thomas admitted he'd hoped to be chosen as the next Bachelor, Katie Thurston took to social media to offer her response.
  • Watch: Nick Viall’s Warning to “Bachelorette” Katie Thurston

There are certain things you don’t say out loud when you’re a contestant on The Bachelorette, as Thomas has presumably learned the hard way.

The dating show’s latest episode, which aired on Monday, June 21, ended with the guys banding together to get more information about Thomas’ motives, just as they had teamed up earlier in the proceedings to encourage Katie Thurston to not give a rose to previous villain Karl.

Karl ended up going home, and although Thomas was still in the running by the episode’s end, he might not have much time left, judging by Katie’s social media presence throughout the evening.

As the show had teased in promos for the episode, the final scene showed Hunter pushing Thomas to follow up on his earlier comments that led the guys to suspect he joined the show with the intention of becoming the Bachelor on a future season.

Ultimately, Hunter directly asked, “Was being the Bachelor—was that a prerogative for you?” This led the real estate agent to stunningly reply, “OK, I can’t be [disingenuous] to you guys, and I’m not gonna be. Yes, coming into this, one of the thoughts on my mind was potentially being the next Bachelor.”

Given that he and Katie had shared a great connection and strong feelings up until this point, the Bachelorette was understandably surprised while watching Thomas share this on TV, and she made her feelings known on Twitter just after the scene aired on the East Coast. Katie had not been present during Thomas’ confession.

“He said what?!” she wrote, adding a GIF reflecting her disbelief.

Nick Viall, who also appeared on the episode and is himself no stranger to Bachelor Nation controversy, weighed in as well. He jokingly posted to social media that a clipboard he was holding was adorned with the words, “Thomas is lying.”

This followed a grueling group date that required the men to open up about a time from their past that brings them shame. It also featured Katie sharing about a nonconsensual sexual experience from her past.

Some of the guys, particularly Aaron, felt Thomas wasn’t being as honest as the others and was just using the opportunity to sell himself. Katie herself appeared to pick up on this, and later in the date, she asked Thomas to directly tell her about his own “red flags” that he had said existed, but he still refused to give details.

After this one-on-one moment didn’t end well, Thomas then interrupted Aaron’s time to sit down again with Katie. He told Aaron he believed his own time to be more valuable than Aaron’s, and also claimed he told Katie he was falling in love with her, although it later came out that this wasn’t actually what he expressed to Katie.

Katie appeared to be getting more clarity about Thomas as she watched the episode. Indeed, she retweeted a fan’s message during the episode that read, “thomas dodging questions as he says he’s not dodging questions,” and included a GIF of a man trying to escape capture.

When another fan tweeted during the episode, “But did he say he was falling in love with her ???,” Katie responded with a thinking-face emoji.

Whether Thomas gets Katie’s final rose remains to be seen, but he certainly doesn’t appear to have made many fans clamor to see him lead The Bachelor

Katie Thurston is happy to kiss and tell.

The new lead of The Bachelorette certainly smooches a lot of men in the promos for the show’s upcoming season, which is set to premiere on June 7. However, she won’t apologize for getting physical with many of the guys vying for her heart

“Time is short,” she told People in a new interview. “And you can’t be okay with me possibly getting engaged in two months but not kissing on the first date. I’ve got to use my time wisely!”

While we’ve only seen teasers for the early part of Katie’s Bachelorette journey, the bank manager—who previously competed on Matt James‘ season of The Bacheloris also open to hooking up in the Fantasy Suite. (Whether she’ll declare she had sex in a windmill, à la Hannah Brown, remains to be seen.)

“I have sex! It’s an important part of the relationship in terms of the connection,” Katie told the magazine. “But it is also our time to talk about important topics or any lingering conversations.”

It certainly seems like Katie is well prepared for the Bachelorette life—something that her ex Matt teased to E! News last month. When asked if Matt had any advice for the future franchise lead, he said, “I should’ve [asked] Katie for advice! She’s incredible. She’s going to do so well, and I’m excited for her to have this space to find her person.”

He gushed, “I think that she’s going to be one of the best to ever do it, and it’s not going to be a surprise to me as we watch everyone across the country fall in love with her.”

As for what we can expect from the next season of The Bachelorette, co-host Kaitlyn Bristowe—who took over hosting duties alongside Tayshia Adams after Chris Harrison stepped back from the franchise—told the Off the Vine podcast, “I can say it’s the most dramatic season yet.”

    Let the kissing commence!

Tayshia Adams, Kaitlyn Bristowe & Katie Thurston Proved How Joyful The Bachelorette Can Be

Tayshia Adams, Kaitlyn Bristowe & Katie Thurston Proved How Joyful The Bachelorette Can Be

  • Tayshia and Kaitlyn's presence as the new hosts of The Bachelorette made the whole thing feel like IRL Tinder at a sleepover, but it's unfortunate to remember what it took to get here.
  • A new era for Bachelor Nation has arrived.

We have now officially seen the first premiere in franchise history without Chris Harrison as the host, and we shouldn’t be surprised that it was really wonderful—and “wonderful” is not a word we often associate with anything Bachelor. Kaitlyn Bristowe and Tayshia Adams felt like old friends at a fancy sleepover, helping their single pal Katie Thurston swipe on Tinder IRL. They hyped her up, they offered commentary and they spied through a window with popcorn in hand, offering their opinions on guys with trucks. (They like them, for the record.)

It was so much fun, and it made the show feel more joyful than it has in a long time, if ever. Instead of a dark undercurrent of reality TV machinations, there was fun, laughter—and a sense that maybe everybody is here to have a good time.

Kaitlyn and Tayshia have been contestants and leads before, and they’re currently both in happy, engaged Bachelor Nation relationships. They’re the perfect choice to shepherd a new lead through her own journey to find TV love, and bringing them on feels like a no brainer. It just really sucks to remember how we got here, and that it wasn’t actually a no brainer at all.

    Chris Harrison, Rachel Lindsay
    photos
Biggest Off-Camera Scandals in Bachelor History

Chris originally stepped down temporarily after screwing up in an interview with Bachelorette alum Rachel Lindsay, who has led the fandom in calling out the franchise’s myriad of bad choices over the past few years. She grilled Chris about contestant Rachael Kirckconnell‘s history of racist actions, like attending an Antebellum-themed party in college in 2018. Chris thought maybe celebrating the Old South was somehow less racist in 2018 than in 2021, and asked that people give Rachael, who went on to win Matt James‘ season, some “grace.”

When Chris was replaced by Emmanuel Acho for the After the Final Rose special, Rachel Lindsay dealt with so much backlash for holding Chris accountable that she had to leave Instagram. Still, the interview was a turning point for the franchise. Kaitlyn and Tayshia were announced as co-hosts for Katie’s season, and then it was reported that a rotating roster of celebrities will helm Bachelor in Paradise. Now, Chris has stepped down permanently, and there’s an opportunity here to turn an aging, antiquated franchise into something fresh, fun—and maybe a little bit modern.

The Bachelorette, Katie Thurston, Tayshia Adams, Kaitlyn BristoweABC

This isn’t even about Chris being a bad host, if you put aside the controversy surrounding him. You could even call him a very good host, in traditional terms. He was simply there, never taking the spotlight, never intentionally being noticed. He announced when it was time for the final rose, and offered platitudes when leads were weighing their options. He didn’t add anything, and that was intentional, but maybe what this show needed all along was a host or two who had something to say.

Chris is also a divorced middle-aged white man who’s never been a contestant or a lead before, and who doesn’t actually know what it feels like to have to date 30 people at once. He’s also never been a person of color on national television, or a woman being slut-shamed on social media, or a virgin navigating a show famous for its Fantasy Suites, and yet, he was the only person there to give on-screen advice. He’s also one man, often dealing with a lead and 20-plus contestants, and he simply couldn’t be in two or more places at once.

Ideally, the franchise could go even further than Tayshia and Kaitlyn. The guys need someone to lean on too, so why not bring in Zac Clark and Jason Tartick, their respective fiancés? Have the couples there to give couples advice together, and then have the men there to help the men, and the women there to help the women. When the lead needs a minute (and we imagine someone in such a stressful position might need a lot of minutes), let the couples take over the spotlight and offer some of the wisdom they must have gained after their time on the show.

A new host doesn’t erase the problems that this show has faced in the past surrounding mental health and support for its BIPOC contestants and lack of representation, but it’s at least a start. Here’s hoping Katie’s premiere was a beacon of more fun and less dark things to come.

The Bachelorette airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on ABC.

Katie Thurston Threatens to Quit The Bachelorette in Tense Season Sneak Peek

Katie Thurston Threatens to Quit The Bachelorette in Tense Season Sneak Peek

  • In the season 17 preview of The Bachelorette, an ambulance is called, there are tears on all sides and Katie Thurston asks, "Do I continue here or do I just leave now?"
  • Last season, Clare Crawley left The Bachelorette after just four episodes when she found love with Dale Moss. Now, it’s Katie Thurston‘s turn, and it seems she might not last long either—but for an entirely different reason.

ABC revealed a sensational sneak peek at her run on Monday, June 7, during the season 17 premiere. It’s not all rainbows and butterflies because, in the preview, Katie breaks down in tears and even threatens to leave the show.

Naturally, fans are only given bits and pieces of the drama, but things appear to take a turn for the worse when an ambulance is called during a game of Bash Ball. Hunter tells the camera, “This isn’t a game. This is someone’s life.” One contestant tackles another and his head slams into the turf. The ref blows the whistle and a medic is called, before the scene cuts to an ambulance speeding away.

There are tears and cursing, and Katie explains, “Our time together was cut too short. All I wanna do is just cry.” She hides her face in her hands while sniffling.

The leading lady is later seen running into the welcoming arms of Andrew S. while calling out his name. In another scene, Katie ambiguously says, “I’m losing you. I’m losing my mind here.”

Tayshia Adams, filling in for host Chris Harrison this season along with Kaitlyn Bristowe, tells someone (unclear if it’s Katie or one of her men), “If you’re not ready for this, I feel like you just need to say goodbye.”

We hear Katie reflecting on her experience in a tense voiceover, saying, “I came here to fall in love. Do I continue here or do I just leave now?” She sits on the pavement and sobs, before storming off in the next moment. “I am done, I am done, I am done. Someone book my [bleep] flight home.”

In a confessional, the bank marketing manager admits through tears, “I am just, like, heartbroken.”

We’ll have to wait and see if she mends her broken heart or actually follows through with her one-way plane ticket.

One thing we can tell you about her season? It’s about to get real sexy. The reality star told E! News ahead of the premiere, “The biggest one and the most important one [is the conversation] around sex, whether they’re humorous conversations or important conversations.” Katie added, “Sex is a theme during the season and I’m excited for people to start feeling comfortable talking about it and starting those conversations.”
