Nothing can put a damper on Olivia Benson’s summer style—broken ankle included.

Following reports that Mariska Hargitay broke her ankle in the Hamptons last week, the actress gave fans a cheeky update on her health.

She posted a picture of her right ankle, wrapped in a beige bandage, with her left foot matching in one tan shearling Birkenstock sandal. “My summer look,” Hargitay, 57, wrote on Instagram on Monday, July 5.

She added several witty hashtags, including “#breakingnews,” “#enjoyingmybreak” and “#wrappedforthesummer.” Naturally, Hargitay satisfied her Law & Order fans with some crime puns as well, writing, “#specialankleunit” “#captaincrutch” and “#crackingthecase.”

Per Page Six, she fell during a movie screening of Black Widow in the Hamptons on Friday, July 2, when an ambulance was called to take her to Southampton Hospital in New York.

Several celebs sent their well wishes on her latest post, with Kathryn Gallagher writing, “An icon in a cast.” Her SVU co-star, Jamie Gray Hyder, asked, “How long did you ponder hashtags??”

One day ago, Hargitay seemed to be taking it easy when she posted a pic of herself lying on her back. “Happy fourth xx M,” she captioned the restful selfie, with no mention of her injury.

She was hospitalized just two months ago due to multiple leg injuries, leaving with a knee brace and a boot. As the mother of three explained at the time, “#ThatFeelingWhen, you go to the doctor, get an MRI and find out that you have a broken knee, a hairline fracture in your ankle, and a torn ligament.” She said she didn’t need surgery.

It’s unclear how long she’ll be in recovery after her latest accident.

Chris Lane and Lauren Bushnell are back in the hospital one month after welcoming son Dutton.

The “Big, Big Plans” singer took to social media on July 5 to ask for prayers for the couple’s baby boy. “It’s been a night,” Chris told his followers in an Instagram Story video, in which Lauren could be seen holding Dutton. “Poor guy.”

Chris captioned the post, “Spent the night in the hospital. If you pray, Dutty Buddy needs some prayers.” The country star and the Bachelor alum have yet to share any further details about their hospital stay.

The duo, who tied the knot in October 2019, announced the arrival of their son in early June along with the first photos of their bundle of joy. “Dutton Walker Lane born June 8th, 2021,” Lauren wrote on Instagram at the time. “Your dad and I can’t get enough of all 9 pounds of you. Now back to baby cuddles and praising Jesus over and over again for this little miracle!!”

Chris also celebrated Dutton’s arrival with a sweet post of his own. “Words can’t describe the love i feel inside my heart for this little man!” he told his Instagram followers on June 10. “Thanks for all the prayers I will never understand how @laurenlane birthed a 9 pound baby! DUTTON WALKER LANE welcome to the world.”

In late June, Chris gave E! News some insight into his life as a new dad. “It’s been a little exhausting, but it’s been the most incredible thing and we’re both so blessed and happy,” he said. “It’s been so unpredictable. I’ve heard so many people say, ‘You just get ready. You better hold on tight’ and I expected to be exhausted and to not get nearly the amount of sleep that I’m used to, but I think that’s probably been the hardest part.”

The sports community is mourning the loss of a beloved athlete.

Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Matiss Kivlenieks died after suffering a fatal head injury during a tragic Fourth of July incident at a home in Novi, Michigan. He was 24.

“Novi Fire and Paramedics were dispatched at 10:13 p.m. to a private residence in the city of Novi. They found a subject unresponsive and immediately transferred him to Ascension Hospital in Novi where he was pronounced dead,” lieutenant Jason Meier tells E! News. “The Novi Police Department is investigating and an autopsy is scheduled for today but all signs are that this was a tragic accident. Initial investigation is that there was a fireworks malfunction and that the deceased fell while escaping a hot tub.”

As news of the NHL star’s death emerged, many fans and fellow members of the sports community paid tribute to him. “We are shocked and saddened by the loss of Matiss Kivlenieks, and we extend our deepest sympathies to his mother, Astrida, his family and friends during this devastating time,” John Davidson, Blue Jackets President of Hockey Operations, said Monday, July 5. “Kivi was an outstanding young man who greeted every day and everyone with a smile and the impact he had during his four years with our organization will not be forgotten.”

Kate Middleton is quarantining at home after she was exposed to the coronavirus.

Last week, the Duchess of Cambridge came into contact with someone who later tested positive for COVID-19, according to a Palace spokesperson.

“Her Royal Highness is not experiencing any symptoms, but is following all relevant government guidelines and is self-isolating at home,” the representative said in a statement obtained by E! News.

Kate, 39, has received both vaccinations and even shared a photo of herself after getting her first shot at London’s Science Museum on May 28. (Prince William has also been vaccinated.)

She was alerted to the exposure on the afternoon of Friday, July 2, and then began isolating.

Kate made her most recent public appearance on Friday at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships in London, where she was photographed chatting with retired tennis pro Tim Henman, as well as Ian Hewitt, the chairman of the All England Lawn Tennis Club. She followed the rules throughout Wimbledon about when to wear a mask.

The day prior, on July 1, William reunited with Prince Harry on what would have been Princess Diana‘s 60th birthday. The brothers unveiled a statue of their late mother, saying that they “remember her love, strength and character–qualities that made her a force for good around the world, changing countless lives for the better,” and adding, “Every day, we wish she were still with us.”

However, Kate didn’t attend the event, and the Palace did not reveal specifically how she was exposed to the coronavirus.

Earlier in the week, the mother of three watched England and Germany compete in a soccer match at Wembley Stadium. William and Prince George, 7, were by her side for the game on Tuesday, June 29.

Kate took lateral flow tests before her appearances at the Euros and Wimbledon, and both were negative. She also tests twice weekly as part of the royal household’s testing program.

With the Duchess at home, William represented the royal family alone during an engagement on Monday, July 5. He attended an event to mark the 73rd birthday of UK’s National Health Service, and was seen leaving St. Paul’s Cathedral along with Lord Mayor of London William Russell. The pair, both wearing masks, chatted on the steps of the cathedral. William later hosted an NHS garden tea party at Buckingham Palace.

Queen Elizabeth, 95, became the first member of the royal family to get vaccinated against COVID-19 earlier this year. Her son, Prince Charles, tested positive last March.

James Charles Returns to YouTube After Months of “SelfReflection”

James Charles Returns to YouTube After Months of “SelfReflection”

  • James Charles posted a new video on YouTube to address the "most important wake-up call of my entire life." It comes three months after he was accused of sending "inappropriate" messages to minors.
  • Watch: James Charles & Morphe Part Ways Amid Sexual Allegations With Minors

James Charles is back on YouTube after “a lot of self-reflection.”

In a new video titled “An Open Conversation,” Charles spoke about what he has learned since stepping away from YouTube in April, amid allegations from two minors that he had inappropriate conversations with them on social media.

“I owe a massive apology to anybody I have hurt or anybody I made uncomfortable with my actions,” Charles said in an April video. He alleged the two victims told him they were 18, and he “engaged in flirty conversation” until learning their real ages.

On Friday, July 2, Charles acknowledged it would be “ridiculous and irresponsible to try to just come back to social media and pretend like nothing happened, and move on with regularly scheduled makeup programming.”

In fact, the beauty influencer confessed that the claims have been “the worst but most important wake-up call of my entire life for a lot of different reasons.” The 22 year old added, “This is by far the most embarrassing thing to ever happen to me.”

At the start of his new sit-down, he addressed viewers’ reactions to his last video, saying that “one of the biggest pieces of feedback that I got was that I felt really, really and genuine and scripted, and that really, really sucks because that video was not scripted.”

The makeup expert recapped his response at the time, noting, “In that video, [I] talked about how basically two guys that [had] come forward with stories on social media about how I had inappropriate contact with them when they were under the age of 18… I did mention in that video that they had lied to me about their age.”

James Charles, YouTube, An Open ConversationYouTube

Though he was “upset” by the allegations, he said he realized at the time that, “At the end of the day, as the adult and the person with the platform, it was 1,000 percent my responsibility to be doing my due diligence and checking into the people that I was speaking to, and I failed to do that,” he admitted. “And that really, really sucks and that’s why I uploaded that video, because I felt as though it was really hard for me to hold myself accountable, give people an explanation as to what went down, and most importantly apologize to the people that were actually affected by my actions.”

Now, Charles has a few more thoughts to share about the allegations.

Namely, he said he doesn’t want anyone calling it a “scandal,” because it’s “just not an appropriate word to be using with this situation.” As he explained, “There’s no denying that I’ve been in my fair share of scandals online, but using that word with this situation just feels really, really wrong, and it really feels like it’s making light of what actually happened, and I don’t want to do that. I definitely have not been taking this lightly.”

Charles, who has dealt with drama within the YouTube community for years, said he has spent the last two years “changing my behavior,” including the ways he has been “dating and flirting with guys.”

Following the allegations from the minors, he said, “It really looks as though I have made no progress.”

“I am so, so sorry for disappointing you guys and letting you down once again,” Charles continued. “As scary as it is to think about, I’ve also come to terms with the fact that this isn’t just something that I can move on from. I am aware that, you know, no matter what I say in this video or 10 videos down the line or a year’s worth of videos down the line, these stories and accusations are going to follow me for the rest of my life and the rest of my career, and that sucks so much.”

He reflected, “It’s so horrifying and embarrassing, but at the end of the day, it’s my own fault and my own responsibility to, you know, take accountability for what I did.”

In February, Charles denied he “groomed” a minor on Snapchat. At the time, a 16 year old said that the YouTuber asked for pictures of their “body.”

In a statement, Charles responded, “The accusation that I have groomed this person is completely false.” Per Charles, they added each other on Snapchat and the victim claimed to be 18, so Charles started “flirting.” After learning the teen was 16, Charles told them he was “uncomfortable” with the situation, according to the vlogger.

The Instant Influencer producer vowed in his statement, “Because of situations like this, instead of taking someone’s word for it, I now will ask to see the ID or passport of every [person] I have a conversation with.”

He posted his “Holding Myself Accountable” video in April, and then parted ways with his longtime beauty sponsor, Morphe. “In light of the recent allegations against James Charles, Morphe and James have agreed to end our business relationship,” the brand said in a statement. “It is and has always been Morphe’s goal to create a positive, safe, and empowering space where all beauty lovers can freely share their artistry and passion for cosmetics, and Morphe is committed to furthering that goal.”

Ultimately, Charles said in his new video, “All I can do is just learn from that situation and figure out how to better protect myself and be more careful moving forward, and that I promise is exactly what I’m going to be doing.”

Jamie Lynn Spears Pleads "Stop With the Death Threats" After Britney Spears' Court Testimony

Jamie Lynn Spears Pleads "Stop With the Death Threats" After Britney Spears' Court Testimony

  • After breaking her silence about Britney Spears' conservatorship testimony, the singer's sister Jamie Lynn Spears says she and her children have received death threats.
  • Watch: Sha’Carri Richardson Speaks Out After Testing Positive for Marijuana

Jamie Lynn Spears has signaled that she and her children received death threats, days after she broke her silence about her sister Britney Spears‘s plea in court to end what the singer called her “abusive” 13-year conservatorship” and amid renewed criticism of the pop star’s family.

In a statement made to a judge last week by phone, Britney, 39, slammed their father Jamie Spears, the co-conservator of her finances who also oversaw her personal and medical care for the first 11 years of her conservatorship, and others involved in her life, including her family. She did not name her sister, who spoke out in support of Britney and her court battle days after her testimony amid criticism from fans. In an Instagram Story post shared on Friday, July 2, Jamie Lynn said some supporters took their anger too far.

“Hi, I respect that everyone has the right to express themselves, but can we please stop with the death threats, especially the death threats to children. -JLS,” read the statement by the Zoey 101 alum, a mother of two daughters.

Britney was first placed under a court-mandated conservatorship in 2008, months following a psychiatric hospitalization. In her testimony, the “Toxic” singer, who has undergone therapy for years, said she wanted the conservatorship to end without her having to undergo an evaluation by a mental health professional.

“I’ve done a lot of research and there’s a lot of judges who are in conservatorship for people without them having to be evaluated all the time,” the star said in her testimony. “The only time they don’t is that the conservator’s family member says something’s wrong with in person and considered otherwise. And considering my family has adopted my conservatorship for 13 years, I won’t be surprised if one of them has something to say, go forward and say, ‘We don’t think this should be asked to help her.’ Especially if I get my fair serve and trying to get something like they did to me.”

After Britney spoke, her father’s attorney said in a statement, “Mr. Spears is sorry to see his daughter suffering and in so much pain. Mr. Spears loves his daughter and misses her very much.” In March, Jamie’s lawyer told CNN that “Jamie believes every single decision he has made has been in her best interest.” Earlier this week, Britney’s father petitioned the court to investigate the claims the pop star made in her testimony.

Many of Britney’s fans have accused Jamie Lynn and other members of their family of taking advantage of the singer’s success, ignoring or enabling her alleged mistreatment and not speaking out more in support of her or endorsing their #FreeBritney campaign. Following the star’s testimony, which marked her first public comments about her court battle to end her conservatorship, Jamie-Lynn came under renewed criticism for not immediately making a statement to back up her sister. She broke her silence five days later.

“The only reason I hadn’t before is because I felt like until my sister was able to speak for herself and say what she felt she needed to say publicly that it wasn’t my place and it wasn’t the right thing to do,” Jamie Lynn said in an Instagram video posted on Monday, June 28. “But now that she’s very clearly spoken and said what she needed to say, I feel like I can follow her lead and say what I feel I need to say.”

She continued, “I think it is extremely clear since the day I was born, I’ve only loved, adored, and supported my sister. I mean this is my freaking big sister, before any of this bulls–t. I don’t care if she wants to run away to a rainforest and have a zillion babies in the middle of nowhere, or if she wants to come back and dominate the world the way she has done so many times before, because I have nothing to gain or lose either way. This situation does not affect me either way because I’m only her sister who’s only concerned about her happiness.”

The country star added that she “made a very conscience choice” to only participate in Britney’s life as her sister and aunt to the singer’s two sons, Sean Preston Federline, 15, and Jayden James Federline, 14.

    Instagram / Jamie Lynn Spears

“Maybe I didn’t support the way the public may have liked me to, with a hashtag on a public platform, but I can assure you I have supported my sister long before there was a hashtag and I’ll support her long after,” Jamie said “I mean I’ve worked since I was 9 and paid my own bills since I was 10 years old, not that I owe the public anything because my sister knows I love and support her and that’s the only person I owe anything to. I am not my family. I am my own person I am speaking for myself.”

Jamie Lynn continued, “I am so proud of her for using her voice, I am so proud of her for requesting new counsel like I told her to do many years ago. Oh, not on big public platform, but just in a personal conversation between two sisters. So, I am very proud she has taken that step. If ending the conservatorship or whatever hell else she wants to do to be happy. I support that 100 percent because I support my sister, I love my sister, always have and always will as long as she’s happy. So let’s keep praying. That’s all.”

In addition to Jamie Lynn, her husband Jamie Watson also spoke out about Britney’s testimony, telling The New York Post three days after the court hearing, “I can assure you her family loves her and wants the best for her. I wouldn’t be around people who weren’t. Who wouldn’t want to be in support of Britney?”

Harry Potter's Jessie Cave Says She Was "Treated Like a Different Species" After Gaining Weight

Harry Potter's Jessie Cave Says She Was "Treated Like a Different Species" After Gaining Weight

  • In a new interview, Jessie Cave, who played Lavender Brown in three Harry Potter films, recalled being "treated like a different species" after gaining weight between movies.
  • Watch: “Harry Potter” & Daniel Radcliffe 18 Years Later: E! News Rewind

British star Jessie Cave went through a challenging transformation after joining the Harry Potter films, her first major acting role.

In an interview with the U.K. newspaper The Independent, published on Wednesday, June 30, the 34-year-old actress and writer recalled struggling emotionally and feeling that she was treated differently after she put on several pounds after making her debut at age 20 as Lavender Brown in the 2009 movie Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

“I gained a lot of weight after doing Harry Potter, just because I wasn’t starving myself,” the actress shared. “And I was growing up and that’s just what happens.”

Jessie reprised her role in the subsequent seventh and eighth films in the franchise, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 and 2. Filming on the series conclusion began in 2009, less than a year after wrapping production on Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Jessie said that when she returned to reprise her role of Lavender, she “was treated like a different species.” She did not elaborate on who behaved this way towards her.

“It was horrible,” she said. “It was probably more me and my insecurity, knowing that I wasn’t fitting into the same size jeans, but it wasn’t a time where actresses were any bigger than a size 8 [size 6 in the United States]. And in the previous film I had been, and now I was a size 12 [size 10 in the United States]. So that was horrible. It was a really uncomfortable experience.”

Jessie described to the newspaper what it was like living in the Harry Potter spotlight. “But you get a bit bigger, or you’re not as relevant, and it goes off, and you have to make your way in the dark,” she said. “I definitely felt invisible when I gained a little bit of weight. And since then, it’s made me have weird issues with weight and work. And it’s so f–ked up, but it’s just how it is. Women have to deal with that all the time.”

Jessie Cave, Harry Potter, Harry Potter and the Half Blood PrinceEntertainment Pictures via ZUMA

In 2015, in another interview with The Independent, Jessie recalled how she felt at the premiere of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which was released in July 2009 after being delayed for six months due to a recession. “And in that time, I gained a load of weight,” the actress said. “I ended up going to the premiere looking like a Grayson Perry vase. After that, nothing happened. It was a really amazing wake-up call.”

In 2011, Jessie released on YouTube the short parody film What’s In Your Shop?, describing it as “what goes down in Hollywood.” She plays herself and meets with a fictional Hollywood acting coach, who criticizes her for her glasses, hair and “puppy fat.” The woman also dismisses Jessie’s Harry Potter acting credits, saying, “Lavender? OK, that means nothing to me. You might as well say to me you played a cactus.” The acting coach then tells her to fill in her eyebrows, get laser eye surgery, dye her hair, buy Spanx and lose 60 pounds.”

Of her real-life experience trying to expand her acting career in Hollywood, Jessie told The Independent in 2015, “I was treated like I shouldn’t be there, that I should go straight back…It was the most traumatic experience of my life.”

After the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 was released in 2011, Jessie continued to act mainly on British television, appearing in roles in the miniseries Glue, the Black Mirror episode “Hang the DJ” and the series Trollied. She also had a small part in the 2012 film Great Expectations.

Nowadays, she is a mother of three, including an 8-month-old baby boy. She continues to act and is also a published author. Her debut adult novel Sunset was released on June 24.

“If I’d stayed thin – unnaturally thin, unhappily thin – I would have probably got more acting roles, and then I wouldn’t have started writing,” Jessie told The Independent in her most recent interview. “And then I don’t know who I would be now because writing is who I am. I’m almost grateful that I gained all that weight.”

Alex Rodriguez Asks “Where Is My Invite” After Missing Out on Party Jennifer Lopez Attended

  • Alex Rodriguez may have been feeling left out after Jennifer Lopez’s vocal coach shared footage from a party the singer attended. See what the former baseball star said about getting an invitation.
  • Watch: Alex Rodriguez & Lindsay Shookus: What’s REALLY Going On?!

    Taco Tuesday anyone?

Alex Rodriguez may have a little FOMO when it comes to celebrating the greatest (and only) weekly holiday ever. That is, according to his recent comment on an Instagram post belonging to Stevie Mackey—who is the vocal coach and friend of ex-fiancée, Jennifer Lopez.

Earlier this week, Stevie shared several posts and videos from his Taco Tuesday event, and in one of the fun-filled clips, the “I’m Real” singer can be seen front and center in attendance. The vocal coach even shared a short video on June 29 of a few pals singing and captioned the post, “Doing a little run thru before Taco Tuesday. This is my fav part of the night cause I’ve spend [sic] 90% of my life in rehearsals.”

Clearly, A. Rod wanted to know if his invitation somehow got lost in the mail since the star jokingly commented, “Where is my invite-Stevie?!”

And although the couple—who split in April after four years together—are no longer an item, it’s safe to say that he’s still welcome amongst her circle of friends. Stevie responded to A. Rod’s comment, writing, “Anytime brother!! Haha.”

To be fair—by the looks of the posts shared from the festive night, we’re also wondering about our invitation too. The star-studded event was attended by other celebs including Keke Palmer and Brandy.

However, it’s unlikely the former Yankee would’ve been able to attend the bash anyway, seeing as how he and his family are reportedly spending the summer staying in the Hamptons, according to Page Six. In fact, he was spotted just a few weeks ago possibly apartment hunting while in NYC.

Nonetheless, there are just some things you miss out on once a relationship is over, like mega-famous Taco Tuesday parties, for example.
