“Kataluna Enriquez being crowned Miss Nevada is a huge win for trans visibility and sends a powerful, but simple message to the world: trans women are women,” GLAAD’s Head of Talent Anthony, Allen Ramos, said in part.

“I’m so proud of Kataluna’s trailblazing win especially as a fellow trans Filipina sister,” trans model Geena Rocero shared in a statement with E! News. “This win will open doors for all pageant system to continuously advocate for the inclusion of trans women in all pageants not just in America but all over the world.”

In a separate Instagram post, Kataluna revealed that her evening gown, which featured vibrant rainbow-colored sequins and diamond embellishments, was a design she made from her couture line. She detailed its significance, writing, “In honor of pride month, and all of those who don’t get a chance to spread their colors.”

This isn’t Kataluna’s only historical victory. According to NBC News, she became the first transgender woman crowned in the Miss Silver State USA pageant in March, which is the preliminary competition for Miss Nevada USA.

Following her win, Kataluna, who is Filipina American, opened up about her pageant journey in an interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Per the outlet, she originally participated in transgender pageants in 2016, but began competing in cisgender pageants at the beginning of 2020.

“I wanted to share my story and present that I was more than just a body,” she said. “With pageantry, people think it is only about beauty. But it’s how you present yourself, what you advocate for, what you’ve done and the goals you have.”

She added, “One thing that is important for me is inclusivity, diversity and representation. It’s something I did not have growing up and is still lacking in today’s world.”

The publication reported that during Kataluna’s Q&A portion of the Miss Silver State USA pageant, she discussed the challenges she’s faced over the years and how she’s persevered.

“Growing up, I was often told that I was not allowed to be myself, or to be in spaces that I was not welcome,” she answered. “One of the obstacles I encounter every day is just being true to myself. Today I am a proud transgender woman of color. Personally, I’ve learned that my differences do not make me less than, it makes me more than. And my differences is what makes me unique, and I know that my uniqueness will take me to all my destinations, and whatever I need to go through in life.”

Botched Patient Finally "Feels Like A Woman Again" After Over a Dozen Breast Surgeries

Botched Patient Finally "Feels Like A Woman Again" After Over a Dozen Breast Surgeries

    Finding herself again.

On tonight’s June 8 episode of BotchedDrs. Paul Nassif and Terry Dubrow treat Jodi, a female firefighter who jokes about a “level 4” disaster on her own chest. After a series of traumatic breast augmentations, Jodi was left with “flip flopped flapjack” boobs.

“This has taken over my life,” Jodi admitted. “I was called a guy a couple times. My chest is something that I think about every day. I cry when i look in the mirror. I don’t feel feminine at all anymore, and not having a chest is humiliating.”

Jodi was even called a “pain in my ass patient” from her previous surgeon following over nine surgeries with failed implants. She even was left with a dime-sized hole in her chest after one procedure.

As Dr. Dubrow put it, Jodi was ultimately left with “very deflated breasts with excess skin.” Nassif and Dubrow want to make sure they don’t repeat the same mistakes that Jodi’s other doctors did since Jodi has a history of implants “bottoming out.”

“It wouldn’t tolerate the implants,” Dubrow pointed out.

“Couldn’t he have downsized a little bit?” Nassif questioned Jodi’s former physician.

The doctor duo discussed what they could do to avoid Jodi’s body rejecting the implants. “I still can’t wrap my brain around as to why it failed,” Dubrow continued. Eventually he decides to operate as gently as possible to take into account Jodi’s soft tissue weakness while trying to minimize the weight of the implant on her surrounding breast tissue.

In the end, there is only one option for Jodi to move forward. “We put an implant in that the pocket dictates,” Dubrow explained. “So we go full enough to give you nice volume but not so full as to make it a tight closure or putting much internal pressure on the breast tissue.” He also warned that her case “has a high probability rate of failure,” or less than 50 percent success rate.

Jodi agrees to go under the knife one more time: “I just want to feel like a woman again.”

Post-operation, Dubrow even was nervous to unwrap Jodi’s bandages. “It could be a peek and shriek,” he laughed.

Yet Jodi’s surgery was certainly a success. “I am literally speechless. I literally have no words,” Jodi gushed. “It’s better than I ever expected. I am so happy with the results right now. I will wrap myself in bubble wrap if I have to. I am not letting this surgery fail.”

In the end, Jodi has a great time showing off her new assets poolside. She even is starting to date again. “I never thought I would be able to look down and see breasts again,” Jodi mused. “I just finally feel free. Now thanks to Dr. Dubrow, I finally have breasts.”

The episode also shows Tamara, a self-proclaimed “Beverly Hills princess” that spent over $1 million on plastic surgery before the age of 19, and David, who is convinced his nose deformity was due to an “IUD disaster.” Plus even Dr. Nassif does some eyebrow upkeep self-care!

  • Watch: Teyana Taylor Is Honored to Be Revolve’s Muse of the Year

Teyana Taylor is probably the only person on the planet who is shocked by her new role.

The star of E!’s new reality series We Got Love Teyana & Iman first turned heads choreographing and dancing in Kanye West‘s iconic hit “Fade” music video, but the multi-hyphenate talent has been working behind the scenes for over a decade in the music industry. Teyana and NBA player husband Iman Shumpert are parents to two daughters, and We Got Love is expected to “give an unfiltered behind-the-scenes look at their lives juggling music, fashion, business and family” according to a press release.

As for her new title as Maxim‘s Sexiest Woman Alive for the annual Hot 100 list, Teyana shared an epic reaction on Instagram on Monday, June 7.

“Somebody pinch me!!!!” the Coming 2 America star captioned. “WOW….Stepping back in front of the lens has been a journey of self-reflection and self-confidence. Living up to name and title of this shoot wholeheartedly made me nervous. As a entrepreneur, wife, a busy mother of two & working behind the lens in my director bag I tend to hide behind my sweats & vintage tees, My ‘Spike Tey’ glasses, and whatever hair style I’ve mustarded up that day…So I as you can see I don’t have much time to be and feel sexy.”

Yet the laidback photoshoot conducted by fashion photographer Gilles Bensimon helped Teyana realize “another side” of herself—one without her hair done up or makeup on.

“In regular Teyana Taylor fashion I said ‘okay but look Ah b––ch doing her baby hairs’ LOL I was like SO LET ME UNDERSTAND THIS…I WILL BE THE SEXIEST Woman Alive IN SWEATS AND A SKULLY?” Teyana continued. “As confused as I was my heart also melted…say all of this to say in the true words of Audrey Hepburn…’The beauty of a woman is not in facial mode but the true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It is the caring that she lovingly gives the passion that she shows. The beauty of a woman grows with the passing years.’ Embrace and love yourselves for who & what you are because only the purest heart shines through.”

The Harlem-born star gushed in the interview that she “always felt like I should be on the cover,” and admitted to joining We Got Love to capture her children’s most precious moments growing up.

“My baby, Rue, she took her first crawl on camera. And Junie, her first day back to school,” Teyana told Maxim. “Usually my lens is on everybody else. It feels good for the lens to be on me and my family so I can look back and know I did a good job as a mom, I did a good job as a director, I did a good job balancing careers, balance your love, things that are important and good.”
