Here's the Truth About Taylor Swift and Adele's Rumored New Song

Here's the Truth About Taylor Swift and Adele's Rumored New Song

  • Rumors circulated that a song between Taylor Swift and Adele is forthcoming—here’s what’s really going on between the two singers and their reported partnership.

Are pop icons Taylor Swift and Adele making their fans’ dreams come true with a song from both of them?

Well, unfortunately for those excited about the rumored song circulating per ELLE, a source tells E! News “there is no truth” to the reported collaboration.

People got excited thinking the British singer and the “Fearless” songstress worked together when an alleged song titled “Broken Hearts” on the Society of European Stage Authors and Composers listed Adele Laurie Blue Adkins and Taylor Alison Swift in the credits.

While “Broken Hearts” isn’t in the cards for the singers, there’s still much to look forward to. Despite Taylor not working with Adele, she did release a new collaboration today, July 2.

The Grammy-winning artist put out a new song called “Renegade” with Big Red Machine, a musical partnership between The National‘s Aaron Dessner and Bon Iver‘s Justin Vernon. Taylor co-wrote the song with Aaron.

The duo wrote much of folklore and evermore together, which were Taylor’s sister albums released during the coronavirus pandemic. The star surprise dropped both albums in 2020, with folklore winning the Album of the Year at the 2021 Grammy Awards.

She performed a trio of songs from folklore and evermore at the award show alongside Aaron and fellow album collaborator, Jack Antonoff. The three musicians performed “Cardigan,” “Willow” and “August.” The first two tracks were leading singles from the respective albums, while “August” was a fan and Jack’s favorite.

As for Adele? An album from the “Hello” singer is long overdue—her last album was 2015’s 25.

New music Fridays are a thrilling, yet daunting prospect for any music lover.

It’s essentially a weekly holiday where fan-favorite artists and fresh faces alike drop their latest offerings for all the world to hear, flooding streaming services and digital retailers with an onslaught of aural goodies. But who has the time to sit there and listen to everything before updating their playlists? There’s just too much good stuff! (And, if we’re being honest, usually a few stinkers, too.)

As it turns out, we do. Welcome to The MixtapE!

Whether your holiday weekend plans include fireworks or barbecuing, you’re gonna need an explosive playlist. Fortunately, some of our favorite artists have been experimenting with new sounds and collaborators, and they’re ready for the world to hear.

After Taylor Swift enlisted Aaron Dessner and Justin Vernon for her last two folksy albums, she returns the favor this week with a feature on “Renegade,” an emotional single from their band Big Red Machine.

J Balvin teamed up with Skrillex and a TikTok star for one hot party anthem, while Luke Hemmings is spending this summer showing a new side of himself—outside of 5 Seconds of Summer—by releasing his introspective debut solo single and album. Blink-182‘s Travis Barker is expanding his portfolio as well, producing a new track by jxdn and Machine Gun Kelly that sounds straight out of the early 2000s.

They all turned out to be worthwhile endeavors, as their biggest fans are eating up the new music. Top off your Fourth of July playlist with a little romance, thanks to bops from Jordan McGraw, 2PM and Andy Grammer.

What follows are our picks for the best of the best.

Your playlist for the weekend of July 2-4 has arrived. Enjoy!

J Balvin feat. Skrillex — “In Da Getto”

J Balvin welcomed two new beings into the world this week. His partner, Valentina Ferrer, gave birth to their first child, Rio, on June 27, and now he has dropped the catchy “In Da Getto” with DJ and producer Shrillex.

The song’s artwork and music video also feature a surprising cameo from TikTok comedian Khaby Lame (as if you needed any more reasons to listen). The Prince of Reggaeton heads out on tour in the U.S. and Mexico this summer, and this number better be on the setlist.

Big Red Machine feat. Taylor Swift — “Renegade”

“Renegade” is basically the evermore bonus track we never knew we needed. Swift teamed up for a third time with songwriter Aaron Dessner and Bon Iver‘s Justin Vernon for this fast-paced single from How Long Do You Think It’s Gonna Last?, the second studio album from the guys’ band Big Red Machine (out Aug. 27). After the trio collab’d on “exile” and “evermore,” their latest work feels like a dreamy reunion.

“This song was something we wrote after we finished evermore and it dawned on us that this was a BRM song. Taylor’s words hit me so hard when I heard her first voice memo and still do, every time,” Dessner tweeted. “I’m so grateful to Taylor for continuing to share her incredible talent with me and that we are still finding excuses to make music together.”

Swift, who will also appear on BRM’s “Birch,” gushed, “When [Dessner] came into my life, I was ushered into his world of free-flowing creativity where you don’t overthink, you just make music.”

    Jordan McGraw — “SHE”

McGraw continues to melt our hearts. The husband of E!’s own Morgan Stewart and the son of Dr. Phil, McGraw released “HER” in April, just months after he became a dad when the couple welcomed their daughter, Row.

Now, he’s sweeping us off our feet once again with the steamy follow up, “SHE,” as he prepares to embark on the Jonas Brothers‘ Remember This tour. He sings on the new track, “She likes to talk in the sleep / A simple conversation turn it into a scene / She likes to fight in her sleep / An irrational account of an encounter with me.”

    Luke Hemmings — “Starting Line”

Five seconds of streaming is all it takes to know Hemmings can make it as a solo artist. The 5 Seconds of Summer vocalist is striking out on his own with his first solo single, “Starting Line.” The heartbreaking ballad gives the first taste of his intriguing debut album, When Facing The Things We Turn Away From, coming Aug. 13.

Hemmings wrote on YouTube that this project “grew out of a year of enforced stillness.” The Australian singer, 24, explained, “I’m so grateful for the journey this album has taken me on and I’m so thankful to have had this creative outlet during my time at home. Lyrically and sonically, this album has allowed me to decipher the last 10 years of my life and help me make sense of the person I am today and how I got here.”

jxdn feat. Machine Gun Kelly — “WANNA BE”

Kourtney Kardashian, get ready to blast this all day long! Her boyfriend, Travis Barker, recruited 20-year-old singer and TikToker Jaden Hossler (known as jxdn) as the first artist signed to his DTA Records label. Barker produced his debut album, the 18-track Tell Me About Tomorrow, which includes this angsty single with Machine Gun Kelly.

The pop punk collaboration surely calls for another chic double date between Kardashian, Barker, Machine Gun Kelly and girlfriend Megan Fox to celebrate.

    2PM — “Make It”

MUST is obviously a must for K-pop fans! The South Korean boy band made a big splash with its first album in five years on Monday, June 28. As for “Make It,” the music video has already surpassed 20 million views in just five days. The apocalyptic serenade features all the members—Jun. K, Nichkhun, Taecyeon, JunhoWooyoung and Chansung—confessing their love as it rains fireballs on Earth.

Andy Grammer — “Lease on Life”

From the artist behind “Good to be Alive,” “Keep Your Head Up” and “Fine By Me,” this upbeat single oozes with the same optimism that made his previous songs a hit. Like the rest of us coming out of the pandemic, Grammer is hopeful that “Everything’s gonna be alright / Got a brand new lease on life / When I look into your eyes.”

As the proud father of two wrote on Instagram, “I hope it comes across for you and makes you feel a little bit of that when you hear it. Do me a personal favor and get into a car, roll down your windows, blare it super loud and let go of some of the emotional weight of this last year. I am so damn excited for you all to hear it.”

Happy listening and happy Fourth of July weekend!

Jonathan Taylor Thomas Photographed Publicly For the First Time in Almost 8 Years

Jonathan Taylor Thomas Photographed Publicly For the First Time in Almost 8 Years

  • Jonathan Taylor Thomas was spotted in Los Angeles while walking his dogs, six years after the '90s heartthrob last appeared on a TV show.
  • He’s our childhood crush, all grown up! It’s been eight long years, but Jonathan Taylor Thomas has finally resurfaced.

The 39-year-old former child star was recently spotted publicly for the first time since 2013, though he last appeared onscreen in Last Man Standing in 2015.

On Sunday, June 20, Jonathan and his two small white dogs were photographed in Los Angeles on a casual walk. He wore Nike sneakers, loose jeans and a zipped up dark hoodie, along with sunglasses, a New York Mets baseball cap and a black mask that was worn around his chin.

An eyewitness described him as “relaxed looking” while he smoked a vape on the street.

The last time fans got a glimpse of the 8 Simple Rules alum out and about was in August 2013, when he was photographed in L.A. in a flannel and tan jacket.

Jonathan, who first appeared onscreen at age 7 in The Adventures of Spot, went on to voice Young Simba in The Lion King before landing the role of Randy Taylor in Home Improvement, which he starred in from 1991 to 1999 alongside Tim Allen.

He reunited with Tim for Last Man Standing, playing John Baker in 2013 and 2014, before appearing as Randy in the 2015 “Helen Potts” episode that also starred Home Improvement‘s Patricia Richardson. Jonathan even dabbled in directing by helming three episodes of the comedy from 2013 to 2016.

He’s basically been off the grid since then, but Deadline reported last year that he will soon executive produce a TV series based on David Henry Sterry‘s memoir Master of Ceremonies: A True Story of Love, Murder, Roller Skates & Chippendales about his time with the male strip troupe.

EXCLUSIVE, Jonathan Taylor Thomas, ***WEB EMBARGO UNTIL JULY 1, 2021 6AM(LA TIME)***Coleman-Rayner

Jonathan graduated from Chaminade College Preparatory School a year after leaving Home Improvement, and then enrolled at Harvard University, St. Andrews University in Scotland and Columbia University.

In 2013, the Veronica Mars guest star told People why he stepped out of the spotlight for a bit. “I’d been going nonstop since I was 8 years old… I wanted to go to school, to travel and have a bit of a break,” he shared. “To sit in a big library amongst books and students, that was pretty cool… It was a novel experience for me.”

During the interview, he said his interests included watching “a lot” of movies.

In retrospect, he said his career in Hollywood was a “great period in my life,” noting, “But it doesn’t define me. When I think back on the time, I look at it with a wink. I focus on the good moments I had, not that I was on a lot of magazine covers.”

Ed Sheeran Reveals Major Detail About Taylor Swift's ReRecorded Red Album

Ed Sheeran Reveals Major Detail About Taylor Swift's ReRecorded Red Album

  • With five months to go until Taylor Swift drops her updated version of Red, fans are searching for any clues about the re-recorded album. Luckily, Ed Sheeran is spilling secrets.
  • Watch: Taylor Swift’s Most Memorable Career Moments

Everything has changed—because Ed Sheeran spilled a major secret about Taylor Swift‘s re-recorded Red album.

As Swifties know all too well by now, the superstar singer is set to drop the updated version of her beloved record in November. But as fans eagerly await the album’s release, Sheeran—who collaborated Swift on the 2012 Red track “Everything Has Changed”—just gave everyone another reason to celebrate.

During a June 27 interview on U.K. radio show The Official Big Top 40, Sheeran was asked when he’ll re-record his duet with Swift for Red (Taylor’s Version). His response? “I’ve already done it,” he confirmed with a smile. “I’ve already recorded it.”

Sheeran, who also joined Swift on The Red Tour, went on to tease, “Taylor’s got a few surprises in store for you, I’ll say that.” In fact, fans on social media are pointing out that Sheeran and Swift wrote two songs together for Red, one of which didn’t make the album. So, it’s possible the unreleased track will make this new version of the album, given that it’s set to feature 30 songs.

30 Fascinating Facts About Taylor Swift

“Musically and lyrically, Red resembled a heartbroken person,” Swift wrote in a June 18 Instagram post. “It was all over the place, a fractured mosaic of feelings that somehow all fit together in the end. Happy, free, confused, lonely, devastated, euphoric, wild, and tortured by memories past. Like trying on pieces of a new life, I went into the studio and experimented with different sounds and collaborators.”

Over time, Swift noted, a part of her was healed from the heartbreak. “Sometimes you need to talk it over (over and over and over) for it to ever really be… over,” she continued. “Like your friend who calls you in the middle of the night going on and on about their ex, I just couldn’t stop writing. This will be the first time you hear all 30 songs that were meant to go on Red.”

The 31-year-old singer—whose battle over the rights to her album masters inspired her re-recordings—also teased one of the tracks will be “ten minutes long,” an apparent reference to the unreleased version of her hit song “All Too Well.”

Taylor Swift’s Ex Conor Kennedy Takes Ava Dash Relationship Public For the First Time

  • Taylor Swift and Conor Kennedy dated in summer 2012, ahead of her fan-favorite album Red. Connor was recently spotted on his first public date with model Ava Dash, who is Damon Dash's daughter.
  • Ava Dash, Connor KennedyDavid Benthal/BFA.com

Taylor Swift is “All Too Well” without Conor Kennedy—and apparently he is doing just fine without her, too.

The 26-year-old was spotted with model Ava Dash, 21, at a party in The Hamptons on Friday, June 18, co-hosted by Andrew Warren, Ryan Thomas-Roth and Danielle Naftali

Ava is the daughter of Roc-A-Fella co-founder Damon Dash and designer Rachel Roy

“Conor and Ava were so lovely together and dancing with each other the whole night,” a source tells E! News. “They helped set up for the event and are two of the most kind and down to earth people. You can really see how in love they are and how comfortable and close they are.”

The source continued, “They flew in together for the event to support their close friend, Andrew Warren, and his event since the cause is extremely important to him. They are extremely supportive and helped throughout the event.”

Warren, who was photographed with the rumored couple, weighed in on the young duo.

“They are both really good people and amazing friends and I hope they end up together, not just because I love them both, but because I can tell they’re both genuinely happy,” he told People.

The Pride Month party was Alice in Wonderland-themed and benefitted Keshet, an organization that supports LGBTQIA+ Jewish people. The event was put on in partnership with Lox Club, a Jewish dating app, and produced by CollXab.

Dash rocked a sheer black dress with white stars, along with red lace mesh to the party. Kennedy wore a blue shirt, jeans, and a jean jacket. The model shared a solo picture of herself from the event on her Instagram page, and in the eigth slide of the post, Kennedy had his arm wrapped around Dash while they both were on a dock.

ET reported the pair were seeing one another back in February.

Long before Kennedy was with Dash, he was spotted with Swift in the summer of 2012. They reportedly ended things a few months later, but many fans think that her song “Begin Again” is about the Kennedy grandson.

Swift just announced that she will actually be going back to her Red era this November. The Red (Taylor’s Version) album will be her second re-recorded body of work, after April 2021’s Fearless (Taylor’s Version)Red came out in November 2012.

  • In a surprise announcement online, Taylor Swift revealed that “something was healed” as she worked on Red (Taylor’s Version). Get the details on her latest project.

We are never ever prepared for this kind of announcement—like, ever.

On Friday, June 18, Taylor Swift surprised fans when she shared a big announcement on Twitter. As it turns out, the Grammy winner is set to release a re-recorded album of Red on November 19.

“I’ve always said that the world is a different place for the heartbroken. It moves on a different axis, at a different speed. Time skips backwards and forwards fleetingly,” she wrote in a personal letter. “The heartbroken might go through thousands of micro-emotions a day trying to figure out how to get through it without picking up the phone to hear that old familiar voice. In the land of heartbreak, moments of strength, independent and devil-may-care rebellion are intricately woven together with grief, paralyzing vulnerability and hopelessness.”

“Imagining your future might always take you on a detour back to the past,” she continued. “And this is all to say, that the next album I’ll be releasing is my version of Red.”

Originally released in October 2012, the album featured massive hits including “Everything Has Changed,” “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” and “22.”

Many fans believe the breakup album was partially inspired by Taylor’s relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal. According to the performer, who has been dating Joe Alwyn since 2017, the process of re-recording brought along some new emotions.

“Musically and lyrically, Red resembled a heartbroken person. It was all over the place, a fractured mosaic of feelings that somehow all fit together in the end,” she explained. “Happy, free, confused, lonely, devastated, euphoric, wild and tortured by memories past. Like trying on pieces of a new life, I went into the studio and experimented with different sounds and collaborators. And I’m not sure if it was pouring my thoughts into this album, hearing thousands of your voices sing the lyrics back to me in a passionate solidarity, or if it was simple time, but something was healed along the way.”

“Sometimes you need to talk it over (over and over and over) for it to ever really be…over,” the 31-year-old artist continued. “Like your friend who calls you in the middle of the night going on and on about their ex, I just couldn’t stop writing.”

According to Taylor, this will be the first time you hear all 30 songs that were meant to go on the album. And one of the tracks is ten minutes long, which fans speculate is “All Too Well.”

The re-recording of Red comes after Taylor’s April release of a Fearless (Taylor’s Version), which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.  Based on the Internet’s initial response, Taylor’s latest album will have the same success.

YouTuber Nikita Dragun Says Trans Community Is "Constantly Under Attack" After Taylor Caniff Incident

YouTuber Nikita Dragun Says Trans Community Is "Constantly Under Attack" After Taylor Caniff Incident

  • "My livelihood is constantly threatened by just living my life as a trans person," Nikita Dragun tearfully shared after posting a video of former Vine star Taylor Caniff misgendered her.
  • Influencer Nikita Dragun is taking a stand against hate toward the trans community.

The beauty YouTuber, who has been openly transgender since 2015 and uses the pronouns she/her, took to social media on Tuesday, June 15, to share footage of social media personality, Taylor Caniff, misgendering her.

In the video, which E! News has not verified the authenticity of, the former Vine star could be heard calling Nikita a “dude” as she’s seen leaving a club with two unidentified men. According to Nikita’s post, Taylor initially uploaded the footage to his “close friends” Instagram Story earlier that night.

“My boy’s hooking up with a guy…,” Taylor said in the clip. “And I tell the security guard…’Bro, like, it’s none of my business but…Did you guys know that that’s a dude?'” They looked like I threw a stun grenade in the back of the security lounge. They were like ‘Bro, what?’ and I was like ‘Yeah, that was a dude,’ and they could not believe it.”

In response to Taylor’s remarks, Nikita opened up to her 9.2 million Instagram followers about the devastating realities trans people face on a daily basis.

“This is what it’s like to be trans,” Nikita tearfully said in her video. “My livelihood is constantly threatened by just living my life as a trans person. And I’m so embarrassed to even be showing this video but it’s a reality. It’s what’s really f–king happening in the world.”

    Nikita Dragun, Taylor CaniffGetty Images

The Dragun Beauty founder continued, “I try to be strong for you guys and hold my head up high, and act like I’m not terrified that something like this will happen to me…This is how trans people will die. This is how trans people die.”

“It just takes that one ignorant, transphobic comment to threaten my entire livelihood,” she explained, adding, “And more so than that, I fear for the people that are with me. The fact that it was just a guy friend helping me get into a car, and all of a sudden this man wanted to video it and make fun of the guy who’s helping me, tell the security guards about it. His life is now threatened as well.”

Nikita expressed her heartache over the experience and reminded her followers to lead with love.

“This time it was me, next time it could be somebody else…,” she said. “We must stop trans hate because it leads to trans violence. And people lose their lives, or even worse, they take their own lives because experiencing things like this just breaks my heart and my entire world. And it’s disgusting and I won’t stand for it.”

She echoed similar sentiments on Twitter, sharing, “Trans lives are constantly under attack. simply living ur life becomes a threat to the ignorant. a simple misgender or side comment could cost us our lives.”

    Nikita DragunCharley Gallay/Getty Images

Taylor responded to Nikita’s video on an Instagram Live that was re-posted to social media. In the video, he said he was simply “making a joke” out of the situation. However, he said to have reached out to Nikita to apologize.

“This is me being me, doing me,” he said. “But like I said, I’m sorry. I sent her a full apology… ‘I’m sorry, it was for my close friends. It was for 30 people.'”

“I wasn’t being transphobic,” he continued. “I was just speaking absolute facts. I said, ‘I bet this guy has no idea, as I would not have no idea if I see Nikita Dragun out. And yes, she is a woman, so I get that now… It was obviously something I shouldn’t have said, even on my close friends, but I’m just trying to have comedy.”

He added, “But like I said, I mean it with no malicious intent. I was obviously just joking around.”

Following his Live, Nikita took to Twitter, writing, “this man is on his live saying i’m doing this for clout and he’s bisexual…sir u haven’t been relevant since magcon. sit ur TRANSPHOBIC a– down. it’s sad i even gave u any kind attention.”

He replied, “You want me to leak some real info nah you been doing this 2015?! You would hate that, you change to trending seasons ….Keep changing for clout. I speak FACTS. What I said was facts.”

E! News has reached out to both Nikita and Taylor’s reps for comment, but we have yet to receive a response.

Taylor Swift's Mom Deserves "The Best Day" After This Big 2021 CMT Awards Win

Taylor Swift's Mom Deserves "The Best Day" After This Big 2021 CMT Awards Win

  • Taylor Swift shared a special message for her mom Andrea Swift after securing another CMT Awards trophy for her hit song, “The Best Day.”
  • Watch: Taylor Swift’s Most Memorable Career Moments

The entire Swift family has a reason to celebrate today.

During the 2021 CMT Music Awards on June 9, Taylor Swift discovered that she won Best Family Feature thanks to her song and music video for “The Best Day (Taylor’s Version).”

Released in April, the lyric video included a sentimental montage of home movies and some never-before-seen family photos. In fact, one video centered on Taylor and her mom Andrea Swift as they cuddled in bed, decorated a gingerbread house, savored ice cream and watched fireworks.

“I LOVE YOU MOM,” Taylor wrote on Twitter after learning she was the big winner.

Not to be outdone, dad Scott Swift and brother Austin Swift also make appearances in the montage. But if you ask the Swifties, Andrea always steals the show.

“I didn’t know if you knew so I’m taking this chance to say,” Taylor sings in the track. “That I had the best day with you today.”

“The Best Day (Taylor’s Version)” is featured on Taylor’s re-recorded 2008 album titled Fearless. The song is a personal favorite of the Grammy winner thanks to its personal lyrics and the memories they bring.

“My conversations with my mom have always been and will always be some of my favorite memories—from when I was 10 months old in this video from Oct. 1990 to now talking every day on the phone.” Taylor shared on Twitter. “Our talks are everything to me. Myyyyyy goodness I love you Mom.”

This isn’t the first song that has been partially inspired by Andrea. In 2019, Taylor teamed up with The Chicks for an inspiring song titled “Soon You’ll Get Better.”

The track was likely inspired by Andrea’s health journey, which included a battle with cancer and a brain tumor.

“Almost every decision I make, I talk to her about it first,” Taylor once told Variety. “So obviously it was a really big deal to ever speak about her illness.”

The CMT Awards air Wednesday night at 8 p.m. on CMT.
