Lil' Kim Claps Back at 50 Cent After He Compares Her BET Awards Look to an Owl

  • Lil' Kim didn’t hold back after she realized 50 Cent had something to say about her 2021 BET Awards performance look. See the epic clap back below.

A good clap back never goes out of style.

During the 2021 BET Awards on Sunday, June 27, Lil’ Kim took the stage to honor Queen Latifah at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. While many viewers enjoyed her performance, 50 Cent didn’t seem to be a fan of her look.

Although the two collaborated on Lil’ Kim’s 2003 track “Magic Stick,” earlier this week, the “In Da Club” rapper shared a meme comparing her award show appearance to an owl. “Who did this s–t?” he wrote in a since-deleted post. “This ain’t right. LOL. Catch FOR LIFE on IMDb TV now!”

As it turns out, Lil’ Kim saw the post and wasn’t going to stay quiet.

“I ain’t bothered not one bit. My family & friends more mad than me,” she wrote on Instagram after reposting the meme. “S–t like this don’t move me one way or another cause I’m still a bad bitch that ni–az bitches, mommies, daughters, and aunties still want to be till this day and I love it!!”

    But wait, there’s more!

“@50cent I see u still in ur feels about that dinner date u asked me on that I had to turn down,” she wrote. “Let it go. U have a beautiful girlfriend, I have a loving husband. Let it go.”

But perhaps the biggest win for the Hard Core rapper is that she took the shady moment as an opportunity to promote her upcoming memoir appropriately titled The Queen Bee.

“50cent, I address that situation all in my book coming in November,” she wrote. “Make sure you go get it. Pre-orders available now. Be Blessed every one, stay positive.”

While 50 Cent has yet to comment on her latest post, the “Lady Marmalade” rapper already received support from Claudia Jordan, Shaunie O’Neal and Gabrielle Union-Wade.

“Talk yo shyt QUEEN BEE,” one fan wrote in the comments section, to which Lil’ Kim replied, “And that’s on Mary had a little lamb Okayyy.”

Lil Nas X is defending his BET Awards performance.

On Sunday, June 27, the 22-year-old singer set the stage ablaze at the ceremony, where he sang his hit song, “Montero (Call Me By Your Name).” While his performance received instant buzz due to the homage paid to Michael Jackson‘s iconic song, “Remember The Time,” it also received praise and notable attention due to the steamy kiss he shared with one of his male dancers.

The kiss drew audible cheers and a massive amount of applause from the audience and even earned the rapper a standing ovation—but, when one social media user criticized the “Old Town Road” musician for his production, Lil Nas X immediately fired back.

In response to a critic who tweeted at him, “DON’T USE AFRICAN CULTURE FOR S–TS LIKE THIS!!!! RESPECT OUR ANCESTORS,” the rapper wrote, “Y’all really like to pretend homosexuality didn’t exist in African culture.”

For his on-stage attire, the rapper dressed up as a pharaoh and donned gold matching knee-high boots.

While the performance drew some criticism, the “Rodeo” rapper also received an overwhelming amount of adoration from his fans on social media and even got a sweet shout-out from Diddy on Twitter. “Lil Nas X did that!!!” the 51-year-old rapper wrote. “Be fearless!!!”

A fan of the “Montero” musician echoed that same sentiment by tweeting, “LIL NAS X. LEGEND, ICON, HE IS THE MOMENT.” Another sang his praises by writing, “Ok, I love this man for this and ending Pride month out with a bang.”

And although Lil Nas X is not backing down from his haters, it’s safe to say his fans will talking about his latest show-stopping performance until the sun goes down.

  • Watch: DMX Dead at 50: His Life & Legacy

DMX‘s legacy continues to live on.

The legendary rapper, who passed away at the age of 50 in April after being hospitalized due to suffering a heart attack, was honored at the 2021 BET Awards on Sunday, June 27.

During the ceremony, which was held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, DMX’s closest friends and colleagues celebrated his impressive career with a special tribute. Swizz Beatz, Busta Rhymes, Method Man and Griselda were among those who took to the stage with memorable performances of the late musician’s hits.

The medley of tracks, accompanied by footage of DMX, included “Ruff Ryders’ Anthem” before concluding with Busta Rhymes’ passionate rendition of “Party Up (Up in Here).” The performances were followed by the onstage artists all bowing their heads and then forming the late rapper’s signature “X” symbol with their arms.

Along with covers of DMX’s beloved tracks, the show debuted a new song from his upcoming posthumous album, EXODUS.

Additionally, actor Michael K. Williams made a surprise appearance during the tribute by performing as DMX, and social media users were stunned by how much he resembled the late rapper as he belted out “Slippin’.”

This is just one of many tributes held in DMX’s honor.

Weeks after the rapper’s passing in April, a public memorial service was held at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, which was co-produced by Swizz Beatz and Kanye West, whose Sunday Service choir performed at the event.

“Our father is a king, our father is an icon,” Xavier Simmons said at the time. “I am so honored to have a father like we have…This man deepened my ability to love…I cried so much tears of joy, so much.”

Earlier that month, DMX’s family confirmed the heartbreaking news about his death.

“We are deeply saddened to announce today that our loved one, DMX, birth name of Earl Simmons, passed away at 50-years-old at White Plains Hospital with his family by his side after being placed on life support for the past few days,” his loved ones said in a statement at the time.

“Earl was a warrior who fought till the very end. He loved his family with all of his heart and we cherish the times we spent with him,” the statement continued. “Earl’s music inspired countless fans across the world and his iconic legacy will live on forever. We appreciate all of the love and support during this incredibly difficult time.”

Prior to his death, the “Party Up” rapper was taken to the medical center in White Plains, New York after suffering a heart attack. He was then put on life support. At the time, TMZ reported that DMX suffered a drug overdose, which prompted his heart attack.

And while the late artist was open about his history of substance addiction, his reps didn’t confirm or comment on the outlet’s reporting. The rapper is survived by his 15 children and fiancée Desiree Lindstrom.

“I’ve always celebrated the woman because I was raised by a strong Black woman, raised by a father who loves women,” she explained. “We can’t live without each other.
