Camila Cabello Is the Sassiest Cinderella Yet in Amazon Prime’s First Movie Teaser

Camila Cabello Is the Sassiest Cinderella Yet in Amazon Prime’s First Movie Teaser

  • The first teaser for Cinderella is here, giving us a glimpse at the hilarious chemistry between star Camila Cabello and her Fairy Godmother, Billy Porter.

Camila Cabello is one smart-alecky Cinderella!

Amazon just dropped the official teaser for Prime Video’s Cinderella, out Sept. 3, and it’s clear the “Señorita” singer is putting her own spin on the classic rags-to-riches story.

The clip starts with the future princess opening her own fashion shop, Dresses by Ella, as she turns her seamstress dreams into a reality. “This is it,” she says. “Soon, everyone will know my name… Life outside this basement starts right now.” (Fittingly, her sewing machine is emblazoned with the “Singer” company logo).

Viewers get a taste of what’s to come for her when a montage of scenes show her evil stepmother (Idina Menzel) basking in the sun and partygoers dancing at the magnificent ball.

“I’m gonna be there / I want it / You’re gonna know my name,” Camila sings.

But her version of Cinderella isn’t just an ambitious entrepreneur. She’s also super spunky, which is obvious when she winks at herself and holds up gun fingers while checking out herself in a mirror.

Later in the film, her Fairy Godmother (Billy Porter) appears in a blinged-out golden ensemble, presumably to give her the ultimate makeover. The Pose actor asks, “You wanna go to that ball?”

Camila sassily responds, “Yes, I was just crying and singing about it, like, two minutes ago.”

Cinderella also stars Nicholas Galitzine as the Prince, Minnie Driver as the Queen and James Corden as a footman. The movie musical is written and directed by Pitch Perfect mastermind Kay Cannon, who promised that a full trailer is coming soon.

Camila gave her own preview on Twitter, writing, “this was one of the most magical experiences of my life. I can’t wait for you to see it.”

Idina praised the Fifth Harmony alum in another post. “You have to see this!” she tweeted of the movie. “@Camila_Cabello is an absolute star and @theebillyporter the most beautiful fab g. Music rocks. It’s joyous and funny and the stepmother isn’t too bad either.”

In addition, Lily took to Instagram to announce the news with a childhood photo of herself, which was made to appear as though she was holding a case from the toy line that gained popularity in the 1990s.

“Little Lil, big news,” the Mank actress captioned her post. “As a child who was obsessed with Polly Pockets, it’s a real dream come true to announce this project!”

She included shout-outs to Lena and toy company Mattel as they team up “to reintroduce Polly to the world in a fun, modern way… bringing these tiny toys to the big screen. Truly so excited to be coming on as both a producer and Polly herself! Can’t wait to dive into this pastel world…”

Over the years, after the toys gained popularity, they launched a series of straight-to-video films in the 2000s, along with an animated TV series that debuted in 2018. According to the toys’ backstory, Polly used a magic locket inherited from her grandmother to shrink down to size, as one does.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Royal Feud Takes Center Stage in New Lifetime Movie Trailer

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Royal Feud Takes Center Stage in New Lifetime Movie Trailer

  • As to be expected, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s explosive royal rift—including that Oprah interview—is getting the Lifetime treatment. Scroll on to watch a sneak peek.
  • Watch: Meghan Markle & Prince Harry Get Sweet Messages From Royal Family

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are once again getting the royal treatment. This time, courtesy of Lifetime.

The network’s latest film, Meghan and Harry: Escaping the Palace, will dive into the couple’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey which detailed their decision to ultimately step down as senior royals and the alleged racism Meghan faced during her time in the U.K.

In the sneak peek released June 22, Prince Harry (played by Jordan Dean) says to his struggling wife (Sydney Morton), “I see you literally being hounded to death and I’m helpless to stop it.”

To which she replies, “I am the person who is strong and gets things right. I can’t lose you.”

Though there have been other movies made about the couple, this will be the first detailing their departure from the royal family. In a bombshell Instagram post in January 2020, they announced the news and shared they were moving to North America.

Since then, they’ve kept busy—to say the least. They’ve inked deals with Spotify and Netflix, expanded their philanthropy work and, yes, sat down with Oprah for that interview. In between, they’ve celebrated their 2-year-old son Archie Harrison‘s milestones and welcome daughter Lili Diana earlier this month.

“To have any child, any one or any two would have been amazing,” Harry raved in March while sharing the news they were expecting a daughter. “But to have a boy and then a girl, you know, what more can you ask for? But now, you know, now we’ve got our family. We’ve got, you know, the four of us and our two dogs, and it’s great.”
