Smallville alum Allison Mack has issued an apologetic statement and made another plea as she awaits sentencing over her role in the NXIVM sex cult.

Smallville alum Allison Mack has issued another apology and is asking for no jail time days before her sentencing over her involvement in the NXIVM sex cult.

The 38-year-old former actress made her comments in a letter sent to a New York judge ahead of her hearing on Wednesday, June 30. In 2019, Mack pleaded guilty to racketeering and conspiracy charges in connection with her role in NXIVM. At the time, she tearfully said she was “very sorry for who I’ve hurt” through her “misguided adherence” to the teachings of Keith Raniere, the group’s founder, who was sentenced last October to 120 years in prison for sex trafficking and other crimes.

“It is now of paramount importance for me to say, from the bottom of my heart, I am so sorry,” Mack echoed in her letter to the judge, filed as part of a sentencing memo on Friday, June 25 and obtained by E! News on Saturday, June 26. “I threw myself into the teachings of Keith Raniere with everything I had. I believed, whole-heartedly, that his mentorship was leading me to a better, more enlightened version of myself. I devoted my loyalty, my resources, and, ultimately, my life to him. This was the biggest mistake and regret of my life.”

Raniere and Mack were both detained in 2018 and she has been on house arrest since then. Prosecutors accused Raniere of running a secret society, DOS, within NXIVM, whose female members were branded with his initials, put on starvation diets and forced to have sex with him. Earlier this week, federal prosecutors asked the judge to give Mack a reduced sentence, citing her cooperation that helped lead to Raniere’s conviction. They said she provided them with an audio tape, in which she and Raniere have a discussion about how to brand his “slaves,” Variety reported.

Mack was accused of recruiting DOS members by telling them they were joining an empowering women-only organization. When she entered her guilty plea in 2019, Mack admitted to blackmailing two women into performing services in NXIVM by threatening to release damaging information about them.

“I am sorry to those of you that I brought into Nxivm,” Mack said in her letter. “I am sorry I ever exposed you to the nefarious and emotionally abusive schemes of a twisted man. I am sorry I encouraged you to use your resources to participate in something that was ultimately so ugly.”

Inside her filing, Mack also included several character reference letters, including from her brother, sister and mother, who wrote that her daughter’s “friends and family are prepared to move heaven and earth to support her throughout her rehabilitation process.”

Last week, prosecutors asked the judge for leniency on sentencing Mack, whose crimes could result in 14 to 17 years in jail, Variety reported. Her sentencing memo states that she “respectfully asks the Court to permit her to continue down this path of growth and reform by imposing a sentence without incarceration, and which would permit her to continue her academic studies.”

Since her arrest, Mack has tried to turn her life around. She worked for a catering business, obtained an associate’s degree from an unnamed community college and has enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program at UC Berkeley, the outlet reported. 

Meanwhile, Mack is also undergoing another major life change as she awaits sentencing: In February, Mack filed for divorce from her wife of four years, Nicki Clyne.

Britney Spears Apologizes for "Pretending" to Have "Been OK" Before Conservatorship Hearing

Britney Spears addressed her riveting conservatorship testimony and explained why she was "pretending" to be okay, despite her contradictory statements on Wednesday, June 23.

Britney Spears is more relatable than anyone previously thought.

On Thursday, June 24, the pop star wrote on Instagram that like most people, she’s presented her life as being better than it really is. She explained, “I believe as people we all want the fairy tale life and by the way I’ve posted … my life seems to look and be pretty amazing … I think that’s what we all strive for !!!!”

She partially attributed this to her mother, Lynne Spears, describing how “one of my mother’s best traits” was her ability to stay strong in the face of adversity. “No matter how s–tty a day was when I was younger … for the sake of me and my siblings she always pretended like everything was ok,” Britney explained.

However, the 39-year-old singer now wants the public to understand her experience, saying, “I’m bringing this to peoples attention because I don’t want people to think my life is perfect because IT’S DEFINITELY NOT AT ALL … and if you have read anything about me in the news this week … you obviously really know now it’s not !!!!”

“I apologize for pretending like I’ve been ok the past two years,” Britney continued. “I did it because of my pride and I was embarrassed to share what happened to me … but honestly who doesn’t want to capture there Instagram in a fun light.”

Moreover, the mother of two shared, “Believe it or not, pretending that I’m ok has actually helped.”

“I feel like Instagram has helped me have a cool outlet to share my presence … existence … and to simply feel like I matter despite what I was going through and hey it worked,” she reflected.

On boyfriend Sam Asghari‘s Instagram, the pop star was positively beaming as she and the fitness instructor recorded themselves with funny filters. As Sam poked fun at his funny appearance, Britney can be heard laughing in the background.

On Thursday, June 24, a source close to Britney exclusively told E! News the “Lucky” singer is headed on a much-needed getaway with Sam, sharing, “She was looking forward to getting away for a while.”

Additionally, the insider said Britney has a more positive outlook on the future of her conservatorship. “Britney is very happy and relieved that she was finally able to get so much off her chest and be heard,” the source shared. “She feels it went well and is hopeful there will be a change.”

Meanwhile, a separate source close to Sam shed some light on his role in Britney speaking out. The insider explained how the actor has been a wealth of support to Britney, saying, “She feels empowered beyond words, and a large part of that is Sam, who empowers her in every way and has been her rock throughout this entire ordeal since she decided to speak up. She is eternally thankful to have him in her corner.”

And a third source confirmed Sam is with Britney for the long haul. “Marriage is definitely something they have talked about and Sam would marry Britney immediately, if they were allowed,” the insider said. “They are truly in love and Sam will always be there for her. They do have plans for the future but the first step is getting Britney out of the conservatorship.”

In the Wednesday court hearing, Jamie Spears‘ attorney said on his behalf, “Mr. Spears is sorry to see his daughter suffering and in so much pain. Mr. Spears loves his daughter and misses her very much.”

In a just-released Keeping Up With the Kardashians bonus scene from the recently concluded final season, Khloe Kardashian seeks advice from sister Kim Kardashian about using a surrogate to have a second child with Tristan Thompson. Khloe is already mom to three-year-old daughter True Thompson, and while she and Tristan just split again amidst a cheating scandal earlier this week on June 21, Khloe is excited to expand her family with the NBA player prior to the shocking split.

The clip gives more insight into Khloe’s passion for having another child. But first Kim opens up about a number two of her own: one that clogged the toilet, no less. 

“Guys, I don’t know what to do,” Kim says with a laugh. “I went number two in that bathroom and it won’t flush. It’s really embarrassing. I was going to blame it on Kendall [Jenner], I should have done that.”

Khloe then starts a tough conversation about her inability to carry another baby and the stress of finding the right surrogate.

“Dr. A just said it probably wasn’t the best idea for me to carry,” Khloe starts. “What is your opinion on me doing the surrogate?” 

Kim honestly explains her experience with surrogacy for Chicago West. “The first time was so scary,” Kim reveals. “I did a FaceTime first and then I invited them over for dinner with their two kids and Kanye [West] and her husband. I wanted to meet them all face-to-face. I wanted to feel and see if this energy would was going to work for us. She was amazing and her husband was so great.”

Kourtney Kardashian chimes in with her own advice. “I think it depends even what they watch on TV,” she adds. Scott Disick clarifies that Kourtney is referring to media intake “while the baby is in the womb.”

Khloe responds, “I don’t think what you watch has anything to do with it, but I really do believe what you eat because you’re feeding it to your kid.” 

Kim assures Khloe that she will “find the right person,” as well as help sort through applicants.

Kim concludes with one last tip for Khloe: “I think the right thing to do is to have them come see the baby before they leave,” she explains, citing that the birth mother even could send breast milk for the newborn.
