Inside Britney Spears and Sam Asghari’s “Relaxed” Hawaiian Getaway After Conservatorship Hearing

Inside Britney Spears and Sam Asghari’s “Relaxed” Hawaiian Getaway After Conservatorship Hearing

  • Britney Spears "was giddy and all smiles" after landing in Maui with boyfriend Sam Asghari, according to an eyewitness. Their romantic vacation comes just one day after her bombshell court hearing.
  • It’s time for some well-deserved R&R. The day after sharing her truth in court, Britney Spears set off for a Hawaiian vacation to unwind with her boyfriend.

The “Lucky” singer and trainer Sam Asghari flew on a private jet to Maui in the morning on Thursday, June 24, an eyewitness exclusively tells E! News.

“Britney looked very happy and excited to be going back to Hawaii,” reveals the witness. “She was giddy and all smiles as she landed on the island.”

The couple headed to her favorite resort on the island for check-in, and then they went straight to the pool. Per the witness, they had fresh fruit juice in their hands and “looked relaxed and happy.”

Britney, 39, and Sam, 27, sat side-by-side on chaise lounges at the pool, while they talked and laughed at their conversation. At one point, Britney closed her eyes to take a nap.

The source continues, “They thought about heading down to the beach, but it looked very crowded so they stayed at the pool. Britney looked like she was in her happy place in a pink bikini at the pool getting some sun.”

They stayed for about an hour before going back to their room for the rest of the day, the insider adds.

Just one day before, Britney appeared at a virtual court hearing, where E! News was present, as she told all about her “abusive” conservatorship. “I haven’t done anything in the world to deserve this treatment,” she testified. “It’s not OK to force me to do anything I don’t want to do.”

She also said she wants to get married and have a baby, presumably with Sam, but is prohibited from removing her birth control. “I haven’t done anything in the world to deserve this treatment,” she told the judge. “It’s not OK to force me to do anything I don’t want to do.”

In response, a lawyer for her father, Jamie Spears, who is co-conservator of her estate, read the statement: “Mr. Spears is sorry to see his daughter suffering and in so much pain. Mr. Spears loves his daughter and misses her very much.”

On the day Britney set off for Hawaii, she penned a letter on social media, apologizing for “pretending” to be fine all these years.

As the pop star wrote, “I don’t want people to think my life is perfect because IT’S DEFINITELY NOT AT ALL … and if you have read anything about me in the news this week … you obviously really know now it’s not !!!!” She went on, “I apologize for pretending like I’ve been ok the past two years… I did it because of my pride and I was embarrassed to share what happened to me … but honestly who doesn’t want to capture there Instagram in a fun light.”

For his part, Sam took to Instagram to share funny videos of the couple on their flight to the Aloha state, as they posed with dog filters. “You’re welcome,” the fitness mogul wrote

In addition to being her travel partner, Sam has been by Britney’s side throughout her court battle. He made his stance known ahead of the hearing, when he posted a selfie in a Free Britney T-shirt.

A separate source close to Sam told E! News this week, “Britney feels like the weight of the last decade or so is slowly but surely lifting off of her shoulders. She feels empowered beyond words, and a large part of that is Sam, who empowers her in every way and has been her rock throughout this entire ordeal since she decided to speak up. She is eternally thankful to have him in her corner.”

The pair first met in 2016 on the set of her “Slumber Party” music video.

Britney Spears Apologizes for "Pretending" to Have "Been OK" Before Conservatorship Hearing

Britney Spears Apologizes for "Pretending" to Have "Been OK" Before Conservatorship Hearing

  • Britney Spears addressed her riveting conservatorship testimony and explained why she was "pretending" to be okay, despite her contradictory statements on Wednesday, June 23.
  • Britney Spears is more relatable than anyone previously thought.

On Thursday, June 24, the pop star wrote on Instagram that like most people, she’s presented her life as being better than it really is. She explained, “I believe as people we all want the fairy tale life and by the way I’ve posted … my life seems to look and be pretty amazing … I think that’s what we all strive for !!!!”

She partially attributed this to her mother, Lynne Spears, describing how “one of my mother’s best traits” was her ability to stay strong in the face of adversity. “No matter how s–tty a day was when I was younger … for the sake of me and my siblings she always pretended like everything was ok,” Britney explained.

However, the 39-year-old singer now wants the public to understand her experience, saying, “I’m bringing this to peoples attention because I don’t want people to think my life is perfect because IT’S DEFINITELY NOT AT ALL … and if you have read anything about me in the news this week … you obviously really know now it’s not !!!!”

Moreover, the mother of two shared, “Believe it or not, pretending that I’m ok has actually helped.”

“I feel like Instagram has helped me have a cool outlet to share my presence … existence … and to simply feel like I matter despite what I was going through and hey it worked,” she reflected.

On boyfriend Sam Asghari‘s Instagram, the pop star was positively beaming as she and the fitness instructor recorded themselves with funny filters. As Sam poked fun at his funny appearance, Britney can be heard laughing in the background.

On Thursday, June 24, a source close to Britney exclusively told E! News the “Lucky” singer is headed on a much-needed getaway with Sam, sharing, “She was looking forward to getting away for a while.”

Additionally, the insider said Britney has a more positive outlook on the future of her conservatorship. “Britney is very happy and relieved that she was finally able to get so much off her chest and be heard,” the source shared. “She feels it went well and is hopeful there will be a change.”

Meanwhile, a separate source close to Sam shed some light on his role in Britney speaking out. The insider explained how the actor has been a wealth of support to Britney, saying, “She feels empowered beyond words, and a large part of that is Sam, who empowers her in every way and has been her rock throughout this entire ordeal since she decided to speak up. She is eternally thankful to have him in her corner.”

And a third source confirmed Sam is with Britney for the long haul. “Marriage is definitely something they have talked about and Sam would marry Britney immediately, if they were allowed,” the insider said. “They are truly in love and Sam will always be there for her. They do have plans for the future but the first step is getting Britney out of the conservatorship.”

In the Wednesday court hearing, Jamie Spears‘ attorney said on his behalf, “Mr. Spears is sorry to see his daughter suffering and in so much pain. Mr. Spears loves his daughter and misses her very much.”

Kathy and Nicky Hilton are offering their thoughts after Britney Spears seemingly chose to discuss Paris Hilton in a very public setting.

On the Wednesday, June 23 episode of Watch What Happens Live, host Andy Cohen told guests Kathy and Nicky that Paris’ name had come up earlier that day during Britney’s public testimony at her conservatorship hearing.

“Did you guys hear what she spoke about today?” Andy asked his guests. Kathy did not appear to not know what Andy was referring to and replied, “No, but we both know her.”

This led Andy to reference Paris’ YouTube documentary I Am Paris that was released in September, in which the star detailed abuse she allegedly experienced as a teenager while staying at a boarding school in Utah. In response to the allegations, the school released a statement that read in part, “We do not condone or promote any form of abuse.”

The host continued by saying about Britney, “I know you know her, but one of the things she said was that her initial reaction to Paris’ documentary, or story about what happened to her in boarding school, was that she didn’t know if she believed it. And because she had that reaction, she was worried nobody would believe her if she spoke out.”

Britney’s hearing quotes about Paris, as reported by Variety, appeared to be Britney’s way of explaining why she was worried about reaction to her own plight.

Andy’s comments led Kathy to take a deep sigh, and she appeared displeased by this revelation. However, Nicky quickly stepped in to respond, so it’s unclear how Kathy might have otherwise reacted.

“She should know we believe her,” Nicky said. She then exclaimed in a louder voice, “Free Britney!” At that, Kathy added, “She’s such a sweet girl and a good girl.”

For Paris’ part, she told Andy on his SiriusXM show back in September 2020 that she had met up with Britney in Malibu that summer. “I love her so much, and I feel if you’re an adult, you should be able to live your life and not be controlled,” the Simple Life star shared.

Britney Spears is finally having her voice heard.

The superstar singer addressed a Los Angeles judge remotely on Wednesday, June 23 for the latest hearing on her conservatorship. According to NBC News, who had a reporter inside the courtroom, the 39-year-old mother of two wants her conservatorship to end.

“I want to end the conservatorship without being evaluated,” Britney told a judge. “In the meantime, I want this therapist to come to my home…I’m not willing to go to Westlake and be embarrassed by all these paparazzi.”

According to NBC News, Britney alleged that she has been subjected to numerous psych evaluations, medications and that she has been traumatized by her father Jamie Spears through his control. She told the court that she didn’t speak up publicly because she feared no one would believe her. “After I’ve lied and told the whole world I’m OK and I’m happy…I’m not OK, ” she shared. “I’m not happy, I can’t sleep.”

After Britney spoke, an attorney shared a statement on behalf of Jamie. “Mr. Spears is sorry to see his daughter suffering and in so much pain,” the statement read. “Mr. Spears loves his daughter and misses her very much.”

Back on April 27, E! News was present for a virtual court hearing when Britney’s attorney, Sam Ingham, said the performer would like the judge to set a status hearing in order for her to “address the court directly.” Following the request, a judge scheduled a status hearing for today.

Britney was first placed on a conservatorship in 2008. Her father was appointed co-conservator of Britney’s estate along with Andrew M. Wallet, with permanent letters of conservatorship being issued in 2009. Andrew resigned from the position in 2019, allowing Bessemer Trust Co. to serve as a co-conservator alongside Jamie.

Some fans, however, have been questioning if Jamie should have such a prominent role in the legal order while others wonder if a conservatorship is still necessary. In fact, the #FreeBritney movement has only grown after the “Framing Britney Spears” episode of The New York Times Presents docu-series premiered on FX in February 2021. Britney’s Rights: During the hearing, the singer said she was not aware that she could ever request to end the conservatorship. “I haven’t done anything in the world to deserve this treatment,” she shared. “It’s not OK to force me to do anything I don’t want to do.”

Public Request: Britney supported an open court hearing in hopes that the public and her fans would be able to hear from her, instead of Jamie’s team. “They’ve done a good job at exploiting my life,” Britney said. “So, I feel like it should be an open court hearing and they should listen to what I have to say.”

A Brighter Future: During Britney’s statement, the “Lucky” singer said she wants to get married and have a baby, but is unable to under the conservatorship. She alleged the conservators won’t approve of her removing her birth control. The Grammy nominee also added that she’d like for her boyfriend to be able to drive her in his car. As she explained, “I deserve to have the same rights as anybody does by having a child, a family, any of those things.”

COVID Protocols: During the coronavirus pandemic, Britney claimed she was not allowed to practice self-care like massages, acupuncture and hair and nail services. She wondered why her maids had different nail colors every week and her mom was able to go to a spa in Louisiana.

Feeling “Exposed:” According to Britney, she must complete therapy two days a week in “one of the most exposed places” in Westlake, Calif. She questioned why the people around her forced her to visit a place where paparazzi were always present and ready to snap photos.

Perils of Conservatorships: During her statement, Britney told the judge that she is just one of thousands of people who are victims of “abusive” conservatorships. According to the singer, having the power to speak up is valuable. “I wish I could stay on the phone with you forever,” she told the judge via NBC News. “I feel bullied, and I feel left out and alone. I’m tired of feeling alone.”

In a recent statement, Jamie’s attorney Vivian Lee Thoreen shed light on what her client wishes for the pop star.

“[Jamie] would love nothing more than to see Britney not need a conservatorship,” his attorney shared with CNN. “Whether or not there is an end to the conservatorship really depends on Britney. If she wants to end her conservatorship, she can file a petition to end it.”

Vivian added, “Jamie is not suggesting that he is the perfect dad or that he would receive any ‘Father of the Year’ award. Like any parent, he doesn’t always see eye-to-eye on what Britney may want. But Jamie believes every single decision he has made has been in her best interest.”

    Instagram

One outspoken critic of Jamie is Britney’s longtime boyfriend Sam Asghari. In a social media post in February, the fitness trainer accused Jamie of being controlling

“Now it’s important for people to understand that I have zero respect for someone trying to control our relationship and constantly throwing obstacles our way,” Sam wrote on Twitter. “In my opinion, Jamie is a total dick. I won’t be going into details because I’ve always respected our privacy but at the same time, I didn’t come to this country to not be able to express my opinion and freedom.”

Jamie’s lawyer, however, see the situation completely different.

“I understand that every story needs a villain, but people have it so wrong here,” Jamie’s attorney shared on Good Morning America. “This is a story about a fiercely loving, dedicated and loyal father who rescued his daughter from a life-threatening situation. People were harming her, and they were exploiting her. Jamie saved Britney’s life.”
