Prince Harry is continuing to support organizations close to his heart.

On June 30, the Duke of Sussex surprised the recipients of the 2021 WellChild Awards by presenting them with the honors at a private garden party held at Kew Gardens in London.

The event was hosted by WellChild, a national charity in the U.K. that supports children and young people living with serious illnesses so they can be cared for at home versus the hospital when possible. The awards are presented in the following categories: Inspirational Child and Young Person, Young Carer, Inspirational Doctor, Outstanding Health Professional and Volunteer.

According to a press release, Harry congratulated the winners as they received their awards and spoke with them about how the past year and a half has been for them and their families.

Harry was named patron of WellChild 14 years ago and since then, he’s welcomed two children of his own with Meghan Markle: 2-year-old son Archie Harrison and newborn Lilibet “Lili” Diana.

“Since becoming patron of WellChild in 2007, this organization and the people within it have held an extraordinarily special place in my heart,” Harry said in a statement. “I wasn’t a father at the time, and yet the stories of these children and parents transcended that. I didn’t need to be a dad to feel the impact of this invaluable work. Now as a father of two, I feel all the more connected, inspired and in awe of the resilience of these families, who power through indescribable challenges with the support of WellChild.”

“The health of our children, of all of us, could not have been more on the forefront of our minds during the past year,” he continued. “And, throughout this time, the WellChild community has set an example for how to show up and act with compassion for each other. I could not be prouder to be here, to meet this year’s WellChild Award winners, to thank the nurses and doctors for all they do, and to celebrate these amazing families.”

Ed Sheeran, Ronnie Wood, Amanda Holden, AJ Pritchard, Abby Quinnen and Anne-Marie joined Harry at the socially distant garden party. The Duke of Sussex, who stepped back as a working member of the royal family last year but continues to work with private patronages, traveled from the U.S. to the U.K. on Friday. According to People, he then isolated for five days, per COVID guidance.

On July 1, Harry will join his brother Prince William for the unveiling of a statue of the late Princess Diana in Kensington Palace’s Sunken Garden. As the princes previously announced, “The statue was commissioned to mark the twentieth anniversary of her death and recognize her positive impact in the UK and around the world.” It will be revealed on what would have been her 60th birthday.

On June 28, Harry made a virtual appearance at the Diana Award ceremony and gave an address to the young leaders who were being recognized for their social action and humanitarian work.

“Later this week, my brother and I are recognizing what would have been our mum’s 60th birthday, and she would be so proud of you all for living an authentic life with purpose and with compassion for others,” he said. “Our mum believed that young people have the power to change the world. She believed in your strength because she saw it day in and day out and in the faces of young people exactly like you. She witnessed a boundless enthusiasm and passion, and I too see those same values shine through.”

McLovin Turns 40! See Seth Rogen's Message to the Iconic Superbad Character

McLovin Turns 40! See Seth Rogen's Message to the Iconic Superbad Character

  • Since the legendary Superbad character, McLovin, would have technically turned 40 on June 3, Seth Rogen posted a special message in his honor. Scroll on to see what the actor had to say.
  • “It doesn’t even have a first name. It just says ‘McLovin!'”

It’s truly hard to believe that it’s been 14 years since we first laid eyes on arguably the most hilarious fake ID to ever hit the big screen.

In 2007, Seth Rogen teamed up with Evan Goldberg and producer Judd Apatow to write the comical and insanely popular coming-of-age-flick, Superbad. And who could forget when Fogell (played by Christopher Mintz-Plasse) got a fake ID in the film that only bore one now-epic surname: McLovin.

Since McLovin’s ID listed his birthday as June 3, it’s only right that Seth tweeted out a very special message to his beloved character. “Happy 40th birthday, McLovin,” he wrote on Twitter. “(We wrote this joke when we were 14 years old).”

Seth and Evan (who named the characters played by Jonah Hill and Michael Cena after themselves) wrote the comedy as a loose adaptation of their own experiences as high school seniors in Vancouver, Canada in the ‘90s.

Not only was the teen movie a monster success at the box office, raking in $170 million worldwide, but it’s remained a high school comedy staple more than a decade after the initial release.

Christopher, who played Fogell, a.k.a McLovin, still regards his now infamous role with adoration. Back in January, the now 31-year-old actor explained to Fox News the impact of playing that character since he still gets approached about it. “I think it’s really… honestly, it’s really sweet when people come up to me and like the movie,” he shared. “I’m grateful for that role.”

However, the Promising Young Woman star also shared that when it comes to talk of a sequel, fans may be disappointed. “I think if that [sequel] were to ever, ever happen, you would need Judd Apatow, you would need Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Jonah—there’s a lot of moving pieces,” he shared. “And I know at the moment, none of them are interested at all. They kind of want to just let it sit, let it be. So, I trust them with that.”

At least fans have the delight of watching the hysterical comedy (and celebrating McLovin’s birthday, of course) on Netflix.

Lauren Spierer's Family Shares GutWrenching Message on 10th Anniversary Of Her Disappearance

Lauren Spierer's Family Shares GutWrenching Message on 10th Anniversary Of Her Disappearance

  • A decade after Indiana University student Lauren Spierer disappeared, her mother, Charlene Spierer, penned a message about her family's tireless journey to find her daughter.
  • The mother of Lauren Spierer is speaking out, 10 years after the Indiana University student disappeared following a night out with friends in the college town of Bloomington.

Charlene Spierer took to Facebook June 3 to pen an emotional message about her family’s search for Lauren. Though Lauren, who was 20 at the time of her disappearance, is presumed dead, no official suspect has been named in her case and what happened to her is still very much a mystery.

“My heart goes out to anyone searching for a missing loved one,” Charlene wrote in the post. “When you are ‘in it’ you can’t see beyond it. You try everything humanly possible to get answers. You are willing to work from first light until you collapse exhausted at the end of the day. You read everything written, every blog, every Facebook post, every tweet, every comment at the end of every article you have access to, just hoping someone will post something to move your case forward.”

The family has long stated that they believe someone knows the truth about what happened to Lauren. And Charlene called upon anyone who knows anything to speak out.

“You open your door to the worst of humanity, desperate to believe their convincing lies, but I think the worst offense comes from those who hold the answers and refuse to share them,” she wrote. “You are gullible. You are exposed to things you’ve never known about and wish you had never learned about. I empathize with you. I walk in your shoes; I carry the same burden. I wish we never had to experience this.”

Charlene also thanked those who worked beside the family “tirelessly” and “put their lives on hold” to help find Lauren.

“This is what I know,” she continued. “What happened to Lauren was shocking. It is inconceivable to have spoken to Lauren hours before discovering it would be for the last time. Shocking that someone so loved could vanish without a trace but entirely possible. It did happen and ten years later I still struggle. The space that once held hopes and dreams for Lauren will never heal. It is replaced by an ache fueled by the not knowing. I have learned to manage my days, months and years, but in an instant, something will happen which sends me reeling back to the day it all happened. I try my best, I will survive, I will never forget. I do not need a day like today to remember because every day is a day of remembrance.”

She also took time to say how “grateful” she was to Rob and Rebecca Spierer, her husband and daughter, who “share in this tragic loss and without whom I could not have survived.”

The family has not given up their search for Lauren. A post written by Charlene on the website FindLauren.com reads, “We are still no closer, we are still without answers, we are still searching now almost ten years later. How soon will it be twenty years later? The time ebbs and flows with no notice of a family who has lost someone. It seems like only yesterday someone offered Rob a pair of pants noticing his legs ripped to shreds from searching deep in the forests of Indiana. It seems like only yesterday Rebecca received the call telling her that her sister was missing. It seems like only yesterday I honestly thought I could ask for help from people who knew what happened to Lauren and they would willingly come to our aid but I was wrong. They never came.”

“If you are reading this, you have most likely been introduced to Lauren,” the post continues. “I end as I began on June 3, 2011…if anyone has any information about the disappearance of our daughter, Lauren Spierer, please contact us. We continue to search for answers. As always, hoping today is the day.”
