Martha Stewart Asks "Fake Doctor" Ellen Pompeo for Medical Advice After Rupturing Achilles Tendon

Martha Stewart is recovering after an operation for an achilles tendon rupture, and she's received some well-wishes from her fellow celebrities, including Grey's Anatomy's Ellen Pompeo.

Feel better, Martha Stewart!

The lifestyle expert took to Instagram on June 30 to share a picture of her foot and leg wrapped in medical bandages. “Not the prettiest photo nor the happiest back story,” she wrote. “Bad timing all around. Ruptured my Achilles’ tendon a while ago. Tried to get it to heal on its own to no avail.”

Stewart then informed her 1.4 million followers that she had a three-hour operation, performed by NYU Langone Health’s orthopedic surgeon Dr. John Kennedy in New York, earlier this week to “repair the damage” and that she’s recovering from the procedure. 

“Recuperating at home,” she added. “I have been ordered to lay still with leg elevated for two weeks. After that another two to four weeks of crutches. Then maybe some more normal activity.”

So how exactly did Stewart get injured? “Most such ruptures occur when dancing or playing sports,” the 79-year-old star explained. “Mine was caused by a surprise step into a hole in the dark getting out of the car. Thank you NYU for attempting to make me whole again.”

Stewart, who’s gone viral for her posts on more than one occasion, then took this opportunity to jokingly ask the Grey’s Anatomy actress for some medical advice.

Ellen Pompeo gave a surprisingly thoughtful response to a Grey's Anatomy fan who slammed the recently concluded season 17 as "trash."

Ellen Pompeo is surprisingly open to hearing all types of feedback from Grey’s Anatomy fans as the long-running medical drama heads into season 18. 

The 51-year-old actress tweeted her reaction after a fan of the show criticized the recently completed season 17 as “dumpster [fire emoji] trash!” The fan noted, “I love the show but not this season.”

On Friday, June 18, Ellen posted quite the magnanimous message in response. “All good! Seventeen seasons we can’t please everyone all the time,” the star wrote. “it’s definitely not easy keeping it going and keeping it great… I get it…thanks for checking it out anyway… and thanks for your feedback it matters …sending you love [prayer-hands and kiss emoji].”

But Ellen wasn’t done yet with weighing in on the fan’s appraisal. When a different user praised Ellen for shutting down the criticism, the actress clarified that she wasn’t actually bothered by the initial comment.

“No honestly no shade at all …the only show I’ve ever stuck with until the end was The Sopranos,” Ellen posted.

Later, in apparent response to other individuals who were upset with the fan’s criticism, the star known for playing Meredith Grey went on to further defend viewers’ right to voice their problems with the show.

“But why is someone saying they didn’t like something bad? It’s literally been on for two decades!! Let her live… there is plenty of s–t I don’t like,” Ellen tweeted. She added, “Not to mention people are pretty much allowed to feel however they want after this really f–ked up couple of years we have had.”

Gone, but not forgotten! Ellen Pompeo is still hanging out with two of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital’s most beloved doctors. 

On June 11, the Grey’s Anatomy star took to her Instagram Story to share a video of her new dinner companions, Eric Dane and Justin Chambers. In the video, Eric and Ellen pose for a pic as Justin—who is sporting a bleached-blonde hairstyle these days—comes up behind them and pretends to be their waiter. “What would you like for dinner?” he asks, as Ellen laughs. 

As fans will recall, Eric portrayed Dr. Mark Sloan on Grey’s Anatomy for six seasons, before the so-called “McSteamy” died in a tragic plane accident in 2012’s season nine alongside Chyler Leigh‘s Lexie Grey. 

While Grey’s Anatomy is notorious for killing off a lot of its medical professionals, Justin’s time on the show ended in perhaps an even more heartbreaking way in 2020. His character, Dr. Alex Karev, unexpectedly left Seattle and his wife Jo (Camilla Luddington) in order to reunite with his former spouse, Dr. Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl), and the twins he did not know he had. All Jo got was a letter, and all fans got was a voiceover-only performance from Justin in his final episode. (But we’re not bitter or anything!)

Ellen Pompeo had the best reaction to an apparent New York urgent care clinic ironically having her character—also known to Grey’s Anatomy fans as Dr. Meredith Grey—framed on their wall in their practice.
 
The discovery was made by a fan who posted the picture of the well-known character on display in the doctor’s office on Twitter and that photo caught the attention of the 51-year-old actress. She retweeted the hilarious snap with the caption, “Grab your stuff and get the hell out of there,” along with crying-face emojis.

For full reference, House, also known as Dr. Gregory House (the unconventional doctor played by Hugh Laurie in the FOX drama) comically has his own spotlight in the real-life institution as well.
 
One Twitter user asked the question on every fan mind’s once they laid eyes on the funny photos, writing, “You either go with the service or walk away? Lol.” In all fairness, since Dr. Grey is up on the wall—the clinic captured in the photo just might actually be prepared for a crazy emergency or two.

“We all know 2020 has been a really long, ugly road,” Ellen explained back in November. “And we were so happy just to be able to film these scenes and know how much joy it was gonna bring people…we definitely had a ball.”
