The Internet is raising eyebrows about Iggy Azalea‘s new look in her most recent music video.

The 31-year-old Australian rapper, who is typically blonde, sports black hair and heavy makeup in “I Am the Stripclub,” released on Thursday, July 1. After the video hit YouTube, many viewers accused Iggy of “Blackfishing”—or using makeup to appear as though she were of African-American descent.

“I don’t care,” the rapper tweeted on Friday, July 2, in response to a fan who asked her to respond to the backlash. “F–k those ppl babe lol.”

She continued, “I’m the same color as I always am, just in a dimly lit room with red lights. It’s the same makeup from every other part of the video just with a Smokey eye and different wig. Just ignore them, who cares? Let em talk.”

Iggy later tweeted, “I can’t care about something that ridiculous and baseless. I’m wearing a shade 6 in armarni foundation, it’s the same shade I’ve worn for the last 3 years.
It’s the same shade in every music video since sally Walker. Suddenly I wear a black wig in a club scene & its an issue.”

The rapper’s makeup artist Eros also addressed the controversy, defending the star.

He wrote, “She literally wore the same face makeup during every scene of the video… i would know, i did it. Its a shade 6 from armani luminous silk (a light/medium olive undertoned shade if you’re curious).”

Fans also spoke out in support of the rapper. “Everyone in the shot is cast in shadow and Iggy herself is visibly much lighter than everyone there. And she has black hair,” wrote one user. “I don’t know what people expect?”

“Exactly,” Iggy replied. “I’m the same color as the other white dancer in the room and not anywhere close to the color of the black dancers. People will say ANYthing to try and cancel me and it’s actually kinda funny to watch people so worked up over a black wig and Smokey eye.”

Iggy Azalea Supports Britney Spears' Allegation That Jamie Spears Was "Abusive" During Conservatorship

Iggy Azalea Supports Britney Spears' Allegation That Jamie Spears Was "Abusive" During Conservatorship

  • In a social media post, Iggy Azalea said Britney Spears is “not exaggerating or lying” after speaking out against her father Jamie Spears.

Iggy Azalea is speaking up and sending her support to Britney Spears.

In a social media post shared on June 30, the rapper shared a glimpse into her experience working with the Grammy winner for their collaboration titled “Pretty Girls.” According to Iggy, she found herself interacting with Britney’s dad Jamie Spears

“It’s basic human decency to at the very least remove a person Britney has identified as abusive from her life. This should be illegal,” Iggy wrote on Twitter. “During the time we worked together in 2015, I personally witnessed the same behavior Britney detailed in regards to her father last week and I just want to back her up & tell the world that: She is not exaggerating or lying.”

Iggy continued, “I saw her restricted from even the most bizarre & trivial things: Like how many sodas she was allowed to drink. Why is that even necessary?”

On June 23, Britney addressed a Los Angeles judge remotely during a hearing on her conservatorship. The 39-year-old mother of two described the conservatorship as “abusive” and asked for it to be terminated.

“The last time I spoke to you by just keeping the conservatorship going and also keeping my dad made me feel like I was dead, like I didn’t matter, like nothing had been done to me, like you thought I was lying or something,” Britney told the judge. “I’m telling you again because I’m not lying. I want to feel heard and I’m telling you this again so maybe you can understand the depth and the degree and the damage… I deserve changes going forward.”

She added, “My dad and anyone involved in this conservatorship, and my management who played a huge role in punishing me…they should be in jail.”

Britney was first placed on a conservatorship back in 2008 when her father was appointed co-conservator of her estate. After Britney’s testimony, an attorney shared a statement on behalf of Jamie. “Mr. Spears is sorry to see his daughter suffering and in so much pain,” the statement read. “Mr. Spears loves his daughter and misses her very much.”

E! News has reached out to Jamie and Britney’s attorneys for comment on Iggy’s claims and has not heard back.

In her latest social media post, Iggy also alleged that Jamie asked her to sign an NDA before her Billboard Music Awards performance with Britney. If she didn’t, Iggy alleged that “he would not allow me on stage.”

“The way he went about getting me to sign a contract, sounded similar to the tactics Britney spoke about last week in regards to her Las Vegas show,” Iggy wrote. “Britney Spears should not be forced to co-exist with that man when she’s made it clear it is negatively impacting her mental health.”

In courtroom testimony, Britney alleged that Jamie supported her being put on lithium and monitored by nurses at her home after she said no to a Las Vegas residency. “Not only did my family not do a goddamn thing, my dad was all for it,” Britney testified. “Anything that happened to me had to be approved by my dad.”

Back in March, Jamie’s attorney spoke to CNN saying, “Jamie is not suggesting that he is the perfect dad or that he would receive any ‘Father of the Year’ award. Like any parent, he doesn’t always see eye-to-eye on what Britney may want. But Jamie believes every single decision he has made has been in her best interest.”

And in a petition filed in Los Angeles on June 29, and obtained by E! News, Jamie said he is “concerned about the management and care of his daughter,” noting that for the past two years, he has not managed her personal or medical affairs. “Mr. Spears requests instructions and an order from the Court to investigate the veracity of the allegations and claims made by Ms. Spears at the June 23, 2021 status hearing,” Jamie’s filing stated.

Iggy Azalea Responds After Being Accused of Not Supporting Britney Spears Amid Conservatorship Battle

Iggy Azalea Responds After Being Accused of Not Supporting Britney Spears Amid Conservatorship Battle

  • "I am actually here to support someone in a way that's helpful and also mindful," Iggy Azalea explained after being accused of not speaking out against Britney Spears' conservatorship.
  • Iggy Azalea is reminding fans that she’s been in Britney Spears‘ corner long before the #FreeBritney movement.

On Friday, June 25, the 31-year-old rapper, who collaborated with the pop star in 2015, defended herself after she—along with several other artists who worked with Britney in the past—was accused of not supporting the 39-year-old singer amid her conservatorship battle.

But before Iggy joined in on the discussion, a fan pointed out, “One, Iggy did speak about it and yall dragged her for it so it’s weird now that y’all switched up. Secondly, Iggy has ALWAYS been a supporter of Britney so this was so unnecessary.”

“Right, I said her team wouldn’t let her do promo and that they went through my house etc and y’all said I was a hater,” Iggy responded, referring to their song “Pretty Girls,” which underperformed on the charts at the time, as well as referencing Britney’s team searching her property.

For backstory: Following the release of their catchy tune, the “Sally Walker” rapper criticized the lack of marketing and promotion.

“its difficult to send a song up the charts without additional promo and tv performances etc,” she wrote on Twitter at the time. “unfortunately I’m just featured…. would have enjoyed performing it alot, i think it got off to a powerful start. but you need content to compete in 2015.”

A year later, Iggy told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live about how the “Circus” singer’s entourage went through her house before they worked together.

“They came and checked my place to make sure I wasn’t trying to stash anything weird and, like, get it to her or something…to make sure I wasn’t a bad influence,” she shared in 2016. “And I’m not. I passed the test!”

According to the “Fancy” rapper, she signed a Non-Disclosure Agreement, which is why she hasn’t spoken out more about Britney’s 13-year conservatorship. However, the Australian native made it clear that she cares about the Grammy winner.

“I am actually here to support someone in a way that’s helpful and also mindful,” Iggy explained. “Britney has said in her own words, she’s embarrassed to even share this with the world. If she needed me to speak on her behalf, That message has been delivered to her. Other than that – I’m good.”

She continued, “I’ve done what I’m supposed to do, I’ve reached out. I’m not supposed to be mindlessly telling you all whatever was happening because half of these people are just here for entertainment not to help. I actually care & she can use me if she needs my voice. Leave me alone PLEASE.”

Earlier this week, Britney opened up about her situation, telling a Los Angeles judge, “I want to end the conservatorship without being evaluated.”

“I’ve lied and told the whole world ‘I’m OK. And I’m happy.’ It’s a lie,” she said on Wednesday, June 23. “I thought just maybe I said that enough. Because I’ve been in denial. I’ve been in shock. I am traumatized. You know, fake it till you make it. But now I’m telling you the truth. OK? I’m not happy. I can’t sleep. I’m so angry. It’s insane. And I’m depressed. I cry every day.”

Following Britney’s remarks, her father Jamie Spears responded to her testimony through his attorney.

“Mr. Spears is sorry to see his daughter suffering and in so much pain,” the statement read. “Mr. Spears loves his daughter and misses her very much.”
