NeNe Leakes Shares Husband Gregg Has Undergone Surgery After His Cancer Returned

"This is the first time I'm saying something about it. I'd love everybody to pray for Gregg," NeNe Leakes said during an Instagram Live after opening up about her husband's health.

Gregg Leakes‘s cancer has returned, according to his wife NeNe Leakes.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum opened up about her husband’s health during an Instagram Live with The Jasmine Brand on Monday, June 28. NeNe told the host that Gregg, who was diagnosed with stage three colon cancer in 2018, was currently in the hospital after recently undergoing surgery.

“He’s been in the hospital, tomorrow will be a week,” the reality TV personality shared, adding, “I’m sure he’ll be home in about a week or so. He had to have a surgery.”

The former Bravo star explained that Gregg has “had this surgery before.” She declined to offer more details, and instead asked her fans and followers to send their love and support to her husband.

“This is the first time I’m saying something about it,” NeNe noted. “I’d love everybody to pray for Gregg…pray for his strength…and pray for me, too.”

During the Instagram Live, NeNe also opened up about the toll this has taken on her husband.

“It’s difficult,” she shared. “He’s super small. If you’ve ever been around somebody who’s had cancer before, he’s different. He’s different.”

Back in June 2018, NeNe first disclosed that Gregg was battling cancer. At the time, she posted a photo of the real estate developer at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, captioning her Instagram, “Our New Normal and the fight begins #f–kcancer.”

Months later, she revealed Gregg was diagnosed with stage three colon cancer on the season 11 premiere of RHOA.

“We just weren’t prepared to hear that,” NeNe said in November 2018, later adding, “It’s a very hard role to take care of someone. I feel like, if I crumble, then Gregg and Brentt—it’s going to be over. I just feel like I have to be the strong voice.” 

She continued, “I put on a brave face, but I have my moments in my bedroom, usually alone. I’ve had many moments in my car. If my car could talk it’d be like, ‘This bitch cries too much.'”

Gregg also talked about his diagnosis on the long-running series and recalled the “scariest part” about his situation.

“I guess the scariest part about all of this is when we got to the hospital and the doctor saying that, ‘We need to do surgery on you tonight or you ain’t going to make it,'” Gregg detailed. “I went over and prayed to God and I told Him, ‘If it’s time, let’s go.’ I don’t fear death, I don’t want to go. If my work is finished here, take care of them, let’s go.'”

He told his doctor to give his wife a letter he wrote in the event he didn’t survive.

“Writing that note was the hardest thing I ever did in my life,” he explained, tearing up. “But, you never know what’s in you until you’re at that door. I never thought I had it in me—to fight cancer. Now, I’m going to beat cancer’s ass.”

In May 2019, NeNe announced Gregg was cancer-free, writing in part, “Look at God! We are over joyed to say, we saw the doctors for the results of Gregg’s Pet Scan he took last week! Test show, wait for It…..WE ARE CANCER FREE!!!”

While appearing as a guest on the Make it Reign podcast, the 28-year-old model noted her personal mission is to always help and inspire fans about being completely honest, which made her think twice about getting work done.
 
The Paper Towns actress explained that although she’s considered getting plastic surgery done in the past, she ultimately opted against it because she doesn’t think she would be able to talk about it publicly, fearing the subject might be viewed as taboo and promote unobtainable beauty standards. And although she thinks it’s important for young fans to have a celebrity be transparent, she added such a revelation might be “frowned upon” and decided against it.
 
“I get it because it comes from a place of deep insecurity,” she shared. “Like ever since I was a kid, I was like, ‘I wanna have a boob job, my boobs are uneven.'”

The model also added that she has thought about getting surgery for other body parts as well, including her nose, but her feelings on not being able to discuss the matter is what ultimately stopped her from following through.
 
“I’ve gotten close to thinking about it and luckily at that moment go, ‘Well, if I was to do it, then I don’t think I could be honest about it,'” she shared. “And then that would be a problem because I just think that young girls or young boys even, need to know that some things aren’t naturally obtainable, you know, which is fine.”

Although the star has decided against it for now, she candidly explained that she wasn’t giving up on the idea completely. “I would’ve had something done if I didn’t represent what I represent,” she said. “I thought it was more important to not do something because I wanted to represent not doing something, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want to.”

Khloe Kardashian got real about the root of her body image insecurities during tonight’s explosive part two of the Keeping Up With the Kardashians reunion, airing June 20. From trying to “wiggle into” the same size body-con dress as Kim Kardashian to watching stylists pamper Kourtney Kardashian and Kim during photoshoots, Khloe often was made to feel like the third wheel. 

“Interestingly enough, I was so confident and secure before the show,” Khloe reflected.

Yet when critics began calling Khloe “fugly” and other insults, she started questioning her own beauty. “That’s when I became hard on myself because I was like, ‘Oh, this is how other people perceived me,'” Khloe recalled. “I became insecure because of everyone else telling me.”

Ultimately Khloe decided to go under the knife. “For me, everyone says, ‘Oh my gosh, she’s had her third face transplant,’ but I’ve had one nose job,” Khloe confirmed about her plastic surgery. “And everyone gets so upset, like, why don’t I talk about it. No one’s ever asked me.”

Khloe added that she has tried injections but is not really a fan of Botox. “I’ve responded horribly to Botox,” she confessed. 

But the preferential treatment that her sisters received only further chipped away at Khloe’s confidence. 

“We did so many photoshoots where they would receive racks and racks of clothes and I was told by so many different stylists, I was given about two or three pieces of clothing but not to worry because I would be in the background anyway,” the Good American founder heartbreakingly revealed.

Khloe’s body positive brand offers a full size range and she stated during the reunion that she refuses to work with stores that don’t order sizes 00 through 24. “I don’t want to people to feel like they have to be a certain size to be accepted,” Khloe added. “I just want people to be healthy.”

On April 7, Khloe took to Instagram to prove a leaked bikini photo was not photoshopped. “For over a decade now in photos, every single flaw and imperfection has been micro-analyzed and made fun of to the smallest detail and I am reminded of them everyday by the world,” the Revenge Body star explained. “And when I take that criticism to use as motivation to get myself in the best shape of my life and to even help others with the same struggles I am told I couldn’t have done it through hard work and I must have paid for it all.”

On tonight’s June 15 episode, doctors Paul Nassif and Terry Dubrow treat Takeema, a patient who was left with a basketball-sized dented derrière after getting a tummy tuck and Brazilian butt lift in Mexico. “I feel like I’m pulling a trailer behind me,” Tekeema explained of her supersized buttock implants. 

Her behind was so misshapen that Takeema’s friends called her cheeks “dunk’em, since they look like an uneven pair of giant basketballs.”

Takeema hoped Dr. Dubrow could replace her booty implants with fat from her thighs or arms, but Dubrow was adamant that there was another option. “The problem is you have this giant pocket,” he noted during the consultation. “You can’t just throw fat into a pocket.”

Instead, Dubrow suggested removing the implants, re-crafting Takeema’s bottom by rotating the fat down and tightening the skin with a buttock lift. He warned, “We can do the best we can knowing that it may be really disappointing.”

Takeema was anticipating the worst: “This is the conversation I’ve been fearing all along, but I’m really hopeful Dr. Dubrow has some tricks up his sleeve,” she added. “I still want some biscuits and not a pancake.” 

It seemed a flat behind was the scariest outcome for Takeema undergoing surgery again. “I pray that God is going to guide your hands,” Takeema told Dr. Dubrow before being numbed. “It’s going to be a good thing.”

Dr. Dubrow started by making an incision along Takeema’s upper buttock to remove her implants, the bringing fat down to create volume before doing her butt lift. Dubrow also removed the dent on Takeema’s left cheek to “create a better appearing contour on the left.” But there were plenty of surprises once Dubrow went to start on Takeema’s butt. 

“It’s not very often we see things we’ve never seen before,” Dubrow explained when Takeema’s behind started gushing puss. To Dubrow, it was a “rush of yellow fluid” that could have been the result of Takeema’s previous surgeon trying to craft a Brazilian butt lift on top of the implants.

Post-surgery, Takeema wasn’t too pleased at first. “It definitely has a different look,” she said in dismay. “If you see it with my leggings on, it looks different. I’m definitely worried that what happened in Mexico may have destroyed my backside forever. Am I really going to have to live with a flapjack?” 

Both doctors Nassif and Dubrow didn’t see what Takeema saw: In fact, her behind looked just fine! Dubrow assured Yakeema that her natural projection will kick in after recovery.

Sure enough, Takeema is happier than ever with her well-shaped (albeit smaller) rear end. “My butt is so natural and normal and it moves and it shakes,” she said with a smile. “I feel confident about myself.” To Takeema, it was “destiny” for Dubrow to be the surgeon to fix her “dunk’em” butt.

“Dr. Dubrow is the dunk’em MVP of surgery,” Takeema concluded.

The Botched doctors also operated on Yesenia whose nose was permanently crushed after undergoing past surgeries to fix a “parrot” beak. Dr. Nassif even found an admirer in “plastic fantastic sugar baby” Hurricane Garrett, whose $2,000 per month addiction to lip injections was creating nerve damage.

“I can’t perform my sugar baby services,” he cried about losing sensation in his lips. Hurricane Garrett even said that Dr. Nassif was just his sugar daddy type!

“I wanna first thank Bianna Golodryga and the whole team for holding down the fort so well over the last four weeks, which have been a bit of a rollercoaster for me,” she shared. “Because during that time, like millions of women around the world, I’ve been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. I’ve had successful major surgery to remove it and I’m now undergoing several months of chemotherapy for the very best possible long-term prognosis and I’m confident.”
 
In addition to the revelation of the diagnosis, the 63-year-old journalist also acknowledged her team of doctors and also thanked the NHS (National Health Service in the United Kingdom) for the help she has been able to receive, but also added she was sharing her story in the efforts of reaching other women in regards to any health issues they might be facing.
