It’s been one year since Broadway lost Nick Cordero

The Waitress and Rock of Ages performer died on July 5, 2020, at age 41 due to complications caused by the coronavirus.

On the anniversary of his passing, his wife Amanda Kloots paid tribute on Instagram with a montage of sentimental photos and videos that celebrated their life together.

“Today hurts, there is no other way around it,” wrote The Talk co-host on Monday, July 5. “One year ago you left us and became our angel in heaven. You were surrounded by so much love and Led Zeppelin playing on Spotify-no doubt that was your doing, not mine.”

She went on, “What happened was unthinkable, losing you was my biggest fear. I used to tell you all the time, ‘Don’t you dare go anywhere. If I lost you, I don’t know what I’d do.'”

“There hasn’t been a day this year where you weren’t missed, thought about and talked about,” Amanda wrote. “Thank you for being our guardian angel, for sending me signs, for being my DJ in heaven.”

The montage showed the couple kissing in front of a Christmas tree, making silly faces and bonding with their son, Elvis Eduardo Cordero, now 2. She added the song “A Few Stars Apart” by Lucas Nelson, saying that the lyrics are “so beautiful” and the second verse “gets me every time.”

As Amanda put it, “We only had a few short years together but they were filled with so much love, laughter, adventure, dreams, change and growth. It was my ‘Nick era’ and I’ll have it forever.”

She shared more joyful photos from their vacations, engagement and New Year’s parties while playing instrumental versions of The Beatles‘ “In My Life” and Coldplay‘s “Yellow.” One photo even showed him meeting Angela Lansbury.

Ashley Tisdale, Christina Perri, Sheryl Sandberg and more celebs commented on her post to send their love.

Nick was admitted into the intensive care unit in March 2020 and eventually went into a medically induced coma. Doctors had to amputate his right leg in April. Though he regained consciousness in May, he died about two months later due to the complications.

“I am in disbelief and hurting everywhere,” Amanda shared at the time. “My heart is broken as I cannot imagine our lives without him. Nick was such a bright light. He was everyone’s friend, loved to listen, help and especially talk. He was an incredible actor and musician. He loved his family and loved being a father and husband. Elvis and I will miss him in everything we do, everyday.”

The fitness influencer published the book Live Your Life: My Story of Loving and Losing Nick Cordero about three weeks ago to share more memories of her time with the Tony nominee.

Scottie Pippen is continuing to cope with the loss of his son Antron Pippen.

The former NBA player’s eldest child tragically passed away in April at the age of 33. Now, three months later, the 55-year-old is opening up about doing his best to heal after such a devastating loss.

“I’m good,” Scottie, who shared Antron with ex-wife Karen McCollum, said to People. “I still have my moments of ups and downs, but I’m good.” The NBA champion also noted that when it comes to the healing process, the amount of time that passes isn’t truly a factor. “There’s never enough time,” Pippen explained, “but I’ve managed, and I’ll continue to heal.”

Scottie first announced the heart-rending news of his son’s passing in a series of tweets on Monday, April 19. “I’m heartbroken that yesterday, I said goodbye to my firstborn son, Antron,” he wrote at the time. “The two of us shared a love for basketball and we had countless conversations about the game.”

This past Father’s Day, June 20, marked the first one without his eldest son and was also just little more than just two months after his death. Scottie revealed to the outlet that although commemorating that particular holiday wasn’t easy, he did find solace in speaking with Antron’s children.

“It was tough,” he shared. “I was kind of on the road. I did a camp back in Arkansas, so I wasn’t really around my kids. I spent it with my siblings in Arkansas. I was on the phone with [his children]. But it was a great Father’s Day, I guess.”

And as for how the dad of six is trying his best to push through such a painful time, he shared, “I will continue to gain strength because today there is none.”

Riley Keough, who is Elvis Presley‘s granddaughter and Lisa Marie Presley‘s daughter, reflected on how she has dealt with her grief one year after brother Benjamin Keough died at age 27.

“I’m really consciously trying to be present, and not use anything as any kind of escape, and be cognizant of when I’m doing that,” the Zola actress told InStyle in a new interview.

“I’m just generally trying to be grateful for everything at the moment, trying to operate in love, and keep my heart open, and give and receive love,” the 32-year-old expressed. “And not in a woo-woo way, because I definitely have hard days, and all kinds of pain and suffering and all that.”

“But I think when you realize that’s part of it, and your expectation isn’t to just be feeling joy, that’s been a real shift for me in finding those moments and things to smile about,” she concluded.

Previously, Keough shared on social media some of the ways that she was processing the tragedy. The Mad Max: Fury Road star honored her brother by getting his name tattooed on her collarbone in July 2020. And she also announced on Instagram that she had become a death doula.

“We are taught that [death is] a morbid subject to talk about,” she said in her post. “Or [we’re] so afraid of it that we’re unable to talk about it… then of course it happens to us, and we are very ill prepared.”

“I think it’s so important to be educated on conscious dying and death the way we educate ourselves on birth and conscious birthing,” Keough explained. “We prepare ourselves so rigorously for the entrance and have no preparation for our exit. So I’m so grateful for this community and to be able to contribute what I can.”

Damian Hurley is reflecting on grief on the one-year anniversary of his father Steve Bing‘s death.

The model took to Instagram on June 22 and looked back at the day he and his mother, actress Elizabeth Hurley, received the “devastating news.”

“I didn’t realise at the time quite how much it would affect me…” Damian wrote. “We all like to show ‘perfect’ versions of our lives—for me, the idea of publicly discussing something as personal as grief is terrifying… but sometimes it’s necessary.”

The 19-year-old star noted it’s been a “bloody hard” year “for everyone on the planet” and that “acknowledging that is vital.”

“It’s not weak to struggle,” he added. “In fact, to get through to the other side is immensely strong. Thank you so much for all you.”

Steve died at the age of 55 on June 22, 2020. The Los Angeles County Coroner ruled his death a suicide.

“I am saddened beyond belief that my ex Steve is no longer with us,” Elizabeth wrote on Instagram on June 23, 2020. “It is a terrible end. Our time together was very happy and I’m posting these pictures because although we went through some tough times, it’s the good, wonderful memories of a sweet, kind man that matter. In the past year we had become close again. We last spoke on our son’s 18th birthday. This is devastating news and I thank everyone for their lovely messages.”

How Kate Spade Made an Impact on the Fashion Industry

After her aunt’s passing, Rachel became the face of her fashion brand Frances Valentine. The House of Cards alum explained in an interview with Today, “I think when you lose someone you love very, very much, you spend a lot of time trying to think about how to keep their spirit alive, how they can live on for you, and that’s through memories, but also, in Katy’s case, there is so much of her, and this was an opportunity for us to celebrate her life and her legacy and how much she meant not only to us, but to so many other people and the impact that she’s had on the fashion industry. It was a really special experience, and the collection is just beautiful.”

She was effervescent. Hug your loved ones extra tight today.”
