Trista Sutter Breaks Down in Tears Over Husband Ryan's Health Battles: "It's Been Hard"

Trista Sutter Breaks Down in Tears Over Husband Ryan's Health Battles: "It's Been Hard"

  • "I'm not doing great…I've been struggling for sure," Trista Sutter admitted after being asked how she's coping with her husband Ryan Sutter's recent Lyme disease diagnosis.

Bachelor Nation’s Trista Sutter is pulling back the curtain on her family’s situation.

The reality TV personality, who became the first-ever Bachelorette star in 2003 and married contestant Ryan Sutter later that year, opened up about her husband’s recent Lyme disease diagnosis. Just last month, the couple finally received answers about Ryan’s year-long health battle after he previously told his Instagram followers that he was suffering from a mystery illness.

Speaking to Ben Higgins and Ashley Iaconetti on their Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast, Trista discussed how she’s been coping with her husband’s diagnosis.

“It’s been hard,” she tearfully shared on the Tuesday, June 29 episode. “And not because I want any attention on me…I want him to be better. I want him to wake up feeling great. I want him to be able to spend time with our family and make memories. And when you don’t feel good, it just takes away from life.”

Trista reiterated, “I’m not doing great…I’ve been struggling for sure.”

The mom of two admitted that between the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and raising her two kids, Maxwell, 13, and Blakesley, 12, there’s been a lot going on.

“I don’t know if it’s been COVID or all that Ryan has been dealing with, with insurance companies, and doctors and then just life,” she said. “And trying to be happy for my kids. They’re 12 and 13, and they’re relatively independent, but I want them to have a great summer and for them to have a great school year, so my focus has to be on them.”

Back in May, Trista echoed similar sentiments about Ryan’s Lyme disease.

“It’s been hard,” Trista shared on her Better Etc. podcast. “It’s a really difficult thing to see the person that you love most in this world struggling. And he’s a big strong guy, and to see him get emotional and feel helpless in a way in that all I could do was really advocate for him. So, that’s what I did.”

At the time, Ryan also detailed his health issues and revealed that he started experiencing symptoms in early 2020. However, the couple didn’t disclose his medical journey until November of that year.

“My body would just itch for no reason,” he recalled. “I’d get some pretty severe headaches…swollen lymph nodes, nausea, night sweats, fevers, really really deep bone aches and muscle aches and joint aches, periods of extreme fatigue—almost paralyzing fatigue…. All things that I just had never really experienced before in my life. I mean, I’ve done a lot of things that have made me tired, but this was beyond tired.”

Along with his diagnosis, the former Bachelorette contestant explained that he also contracted COVID-19, as well as experienced other health issues that affected his immune system.

But despite everything he’s been through, Ryan remained positive, sharing, “I truly believe that we’re on the right path now. I’m very thankful for where we are and for everyone who’s helped us get there, whether that’s doctors, our family support or even all the people that have written in on social media or in other avenues.”

  • In a new social media post, Jamie Lynn Spears explained why she stayed quiet during sister Britney Spears’ conservatorship. See what she has to say about the case now.

Jamie Lynn Spears is speaking out after Britney Spears‘ latest court hearing.

In a series of videos posted through Instagram Stories on June 28, the 30-year-old actress addressed her sister’s shocking testimony and plea to end her conservatorship after more than a decade.

“I just want to take a second to address a few things,” Jamie Lynn began. “The only reason I haven’t before is because I felt like until my sister is able to speak for herself and say what she felt she needed to say publicly, that it wasn’t my place or it wasn’t the right thing to do. Now that she has very clearly spoken and said what she needed, I feel like I can follow her lead and say what I feel I need to say.”

The Zoey 101 star continued by saying she has “loved, adored and supported” Britney since the day she was born. And although she may not have been outspoken in the past, Jamie Lynn assured fans she was supportive of her older sister behind closed doors.

“I don’t care if she wants to run off to the rainforest and have a gazillion babies in the middle of nowhere or if she wants to come back and dominate the world the way she has so many times before,” she explained. “I have nothing to gain or lose either way. This situation does not affect me either way because I am only her sister who is only concerned about her happiness.”

“I have made a very conscious choice to only participate in her life as her sister, as an aunt to those boys. Maybe I didn’t support the way the public may have liked me to with a hashtag on a public platform, but I can assure you I have supported my sister long before there was a hashtag and I’ll support her long after…note that.”

Britney is the proud mom to Sean Preston, 15, and Jayden James, 14, with ex Kevin Federline.

Back on June 23, Britney spoke to a Los Angeles judge and requested that her conservatorship be terminated. In her statement, the Grammy winner alleged that she had been subjected to numerous psych evaluations, medications and that she was traumatized by her father, Jamie Spears, through his control. Jamie has served as a co-conservator of Britney’s estate since 2008.

After Britney spoke, an attorney shared a statement on behalf of Jamie. “Mr. Spears is sorry to see his daughter suffering and in so much pain,” the statement read. “Mr. Spears loves his daughter and misses her very much.”

And in March, Jamie’s attorney told CNN, “Jamie is not suggesting that he is the perfect dad or that he would receive any ‘Father of the Year’ award. Like any parent, he doesn’t always see eye-to-eye on what Britney may want. But Jamie believes every single decision he has made has been in her best interest.”

In her latest social media posts, Jamie Lynn tried to distance herself from her extended family proclaiming she was “my own person” who was “speaking for myself.”

“I am so proud of her for requesting new counsel like I told her to do many years ago. Oh, not on big public platform but just in a personal conversation between two sisters,” she shared. “So, I am very proud she has taken that step. If ending the conservatorship or whatever hell else she wants to do to be happy, I support that 100 percent because I support my sister. I love my sister, always have and always will as long as she’s happy. So, let’s keep praying. That’s all.”

After the hearing, a judge praised Britney for her courage in speaking out, but said the music superstar needs to submit a petition to the court requesting the termination of the conservatorship before any next steps could be taken. No new dates were set.

Pioneer Woman‘s Ree Drummond is opening up about becoming the healthiest version of herself.

On Tuesday, June 15, the 52-year-old Food Network star detailed her fitness and weight loss journey on her website, in which she shared she’s shed 43 pounds in five months.

“I’m writing this not as a self-celebration (since it’s still very recent, and since I’m still working on it), but (hopefully) as inspiration,” Ree began her blog post. “Because as a 52-year-old lover of food and avoider of exercise, I just really want to share what worked for me.”

While the television personality pointed out that she’s lost weight, she explained it hasn’t been her main priority.

As she put it, “Though I had gained considerable weight over the past three years and I definitely wanted to slim down for Alex‘s wedding in May, what motivated me the most was just wanting to feel better and have more energy.”

“I mostly just think about how much better I feel every day,” she continued. “And feel grateful that I’ve made it over the hump.”

Luckily, the Pioneer Woman star shared what worked for her as she embarked on this health and wellness journey. But before breaking down her routine, she recommended: “Definitely talk to your doctor before starting anything new. You know your bod and yourself better than anyone!”

The food author first explained that she ate fewer calories, noting, “I counted the calories of the things I ate every day…and wrote each item down to get a daily total.”

“Counting my calories was nothing short of eye opening, and for me it was essential,” she admitted. “I’d completely lost track of the calories I was consuming on a daily basis, so it was very helpful to get a handle on what I was looking at.”

Along with eating fewer calories, she weighed her food—to which she confessed, “I had completely lost sight of the volume I was eating—so it was an education in those first few weeks.”

Additionally, Ree ate more protein and consumed less sugar, as well as stopped drinking alcohol.

Most importantly, she implemented exercise into her daily routine. She also switched to a standing desk, which she said motivated her to move around more.

“Whether I walked with the dogs or did the rowing machine (which is in our living room!),” she detailed, referencing some of her workouts. “I learned that making time each day to exercise simply had to be done—because, just like having a baby, there’s never a good time…It was a simple shift in mindset, but it was important!”

At one point, Ree explained that she hit a standstill with her weight loss, so turned to her husband, Ladd Drummond, for advice on how to build more muscle.

“I asked Ladd, ‘How do I build more muscle, anyway?’ I assumed it was just a matter of doing more repetitions with my hand weights to make my biceps and triceps stronger,” she expressed. “But Ladd responded, ‘If you really want to build more muscle in order to burn calories, you need to build them in your legs and your butt—since those muscles are much bigger than your arm muscles.’ It made perfect sense. I was 52 years old and had never once considered that concept.”

She revealed that her husband, who was recovering from an injury following a vehicle accident, showed her how to do lunges, squats, straight-leg deadlifts and calf raises. She kept it real, saying, “I was absolutely pitiful when I started.”

Fast forward to now, and she’s made major progress.

“It feels good…to actually see and feel new muscles in my bod,” she raved, adding, “Poor Ladd is actually tired of me asking him to squeeze my thighs and comment on their current firmness and taking his hand and putting it on my glute so he can feel me flex it.”

Although Ree’s body has transformed, she revealed that she’s never felt better mentally.

“Feeling good is really all that matters,” she shared. “And because of that, the weigh-ins are becoming less and less important to me.”

She concluded, “Remember that feeling good, realistic goals, being healthy, and having fun is the way to go!”
