Kaitlynn Carter Spills on Pregnancy With Kris Brock and Where She Stands With Brody Jenner

The Hills: New Beginnings star Kaitlynn Carter opens up about her pregnancy and how she feels about being on the same show as ex Brody Jenner.

Lest you worry if any bit of Kaitlynn Carter‘s love story has been left unwritten, The Hills: New Beginnings star got candid about her off-camera life during a recent episode of the Hillcast podcast. That included, of course, her recent pregnancy news.

“It’s something that I wanted for so long, that when I found out that I was actually pregnant, I was really surprised, in a good way of course,” the 32-year-old expressed of learning she was expecting her first child with boyfriend Kristopher Brock. “Also, it took me a while to really absorb it. I’m just really excited. I’ve been really lucky — I haven’t had sickness or anything like that.” 

Carter met Brock, who has a 6-year-old son, through a mutual friend while she was staying at the Surfrider Hotel in Malibu for a weekend in summer 2020.

“We did a little outdoor dinner and it worked out,” she said. “It wasn’t so much the timing as the right person coming along.”

Because after ending her 5-year romance with Brody Jenner in 2019, she knew exactly what she wanted out of a partner—and she made that clear with Brock early on. Noting it “was really important” that she find someone who wanted the same things and had the same goals, she revealed. “We kind of got to the conversation about having kids where we stood with all of that really quickly,” she said. “We were definitely on the same page. Like, ‘Hey let’s go for it. And see what happens.'”

Clearly a sound strategy. “It’s funny how when you relax and don’t have all these expectations and plans, how things come together better,” Carter noted. “Kris was such a pleasant surprise. I feel like I was trying the least, [was] when everything finally came together the way I hoped it would.”

Cheering on her relationship from the sidelines is ex Jenner, with Carter explaining that they both moved on “a long time ago.”

Now, she continued, “He and I are really close. There’s nothing he’s saying on the show that I haven’t heard him say in real life. We have a very transparent relationship.”

Kaitlynn Carter‘s sister Lindsey Carter Reis seemingly confirmed the reality star is expecting a baby boy with boyfriend Kristopher Brock. On Thursday, June 18, Lindsey, who recently welcomed her son Otto, gushed on Instagram, “so excited for @kaitlynn baby to arrive and can’t wait to meet our new nephew!”

Fans of The Hills’ New Beginnings star began to suspect she’s expecting a boy when her former mother-in-law Linda Thompson commented, “Yay! Now the news is out and I can tell everybody… I’ve been holding this in so long and I’m so excited for you! Congratulations! Can’t wait to meet the little guy!”

Additionally, Linda wrote on Lindsey’s Instagram that she’s known about the pregnancy for quite awhile. “I didn’t know the news about Kaitlynn being pregnant was out there yet so I’ve been very quiet about it,” she wrote. “But I’m thrilled for her.”

The mother of Brandon and Brody Jenner added, “Enjoy these days… It’s pretty much the best time of your life!”

Kaitlynn herself has said very little about her pregnancy, or her romance, for that matter. 

In December, she confirmed she’s dating someone new and explained why she doesn’t talk about him that much. The 32-year-old lifestyle blogger said on the Scrubbin’ In With Becca Tilley and Tanya Rad podcast, “A lot of friends will ask me, ‘How is everything going?’ and all I can ever say is, ‘It’s going really well,’ because it’s like the most seamless, chill relationship.”

“I don’t want to have a relationship that is in the tabloids,” she continued. “I don’t want to do overly public things.”

And she joked that he’s probably “the first adult I’ve ever dated,” noting that he’s “more mature” than she is. 

Prior to dating Kristopher, Kaitlyn was in a brief relationship with singer Miley Cyrus, who she amicably split from in September 2019. And before that, Kaitlynn was married to her co-star and friend Brody.

The Hills is getting a teeny new cast member: Kaitlynn Carter is pregnant!

On Thursday, June 17, the MTV star announced she’s expecting her first child with boyfriend Kristopher Brock, just over a year after they started dating.

Kaitlynn posted a silhouette of her growing baby bump while on vacation with her man at the Esperanza Resort in Cabo. While much of the couple’s romance is unwritten, Kaitlynn did offer some insight into their relationship during a December interview.

“I have a boyfriend and we’ve been dating since May and everything is going really well,” the 32-year-old lifestyle blogger revealed on the Scrubbin’ In With Becca Tilley and Tanya Rad podcast. “A lot of friends will ask me, ‘How is everything going?’ and all I can ever say is, ‘It’s going really well,’ because it’s like the most seamless, chill relationship.”

While Kaitlynn previously made headlines for her romances with Brody Jenner and Miley Cyrus, she’s been making an effort over the last year to keep her love life out of the spotlight. “I don’t want to have a relationship that is in the tabloids,” she explained. “I don’t want to do overly public things.” However, as she pointed out, she’s not trying to hide her relationship, noting, “I would not appreciate that if I was dating somebody and they were hiding me.”

As for how this partnership differs from her previous couplings, Kaitlynn said Kris’ personality is a major factor. “I’ve never had a relationship that was just easy and I don’t want to put anybody else down, but I feel like he’s the first adult I’ve ever dated,” she noted.

Kris is a fashion designer who co-founded his own company called Brock Collection with ex-wife Laura Vassar, where he serves as creative director. Kaitlynn said “he’s more mature than me by far,” and, as an added bonus, can always weigh in with a sartorial opinion, a plus when your life plays out on camera.

A year before her romance with Kris, Kaitlynn called it quits with husband—and The Hills: New Beginnings co-star—Brody, with reps for the duo confirming to E! News in August 2019 that they decided to amicably separate.

Weeks later, Kaitlynn embarked on whirlwind romance with Miley before the two parted ways in September 2019. As for what she took away from brief time together, Kaitlynn told Bachelor Nation‘s Nick Viall in June 2020, “It’s so hard to go through a breakup in the public eye, too…It’s so rough. But there’s also a lot to be gained and learned from that.”

As for Kris, his and Laura’s 2014 nuptials were featured in Vogue. Their son is a frequent fixture on Kris’ Instagram, and it appears he continues to maintain a professional partnership with Laura. 

Alluding to her relationship with Kris, Kaitlynn went on to share, “With the person that I’ve been seeing recently, I’m trying to take it really slow and make sure that everything is in place.”
