The Hilarious Reason Colin Jost Didn't Want to Run Black Widow Lines With Scarlett Johansson

Scarlett Johansson found out the hard way that there’s a downside to your husband being your biggest fan. She revealed why SNL's Colin Jost didn't always want to hear about her day.

In fact, Scarlett Johansson said her husband Colin Jost was so against finding out the details of Black Widow‘s plot that it got in the way of them reading lines together. 

“I can’t tell him anything,” the actress said on a recent episode of The Jess Cagle Podcast with Julia Cunningham, “and he doesn’t even pry.” 

Even when Johansson and Jost were both in London where she was filming her Marvel movie and he was making the animated feature Tom and Jerry, he still didn’t spend their evenings together talking shop.

“If I was in the middle of a big action set piece or sequence or whatever, he was just not wanting hear anything about it,” she added. “Of course, he wanted to know, ‘How was your day?’ But as soon as it would bleed into, ‘Can you read this scene?’, he’s like, ‘Am I going to get any spoilers?’ He wanted to know ‘spoiler alert’ before we read lines together. Can you believe that?”

Who knew there was a downside to Jost’s fandom? From joining her for movie premieres to honoring her at award shows, the Saturday Night Live writer has always show support for his wife’s role in the MCU. He even designed a special Avengers-themed ring as a gift for the two-time Oscar nominee.

And then there’s that other ring, the pair quietly tying the knot last October after three years of dating. “I’ve met someone I love,” Jost wrote of Johansson in his book A Very Punchable Face: A Memoir, “and who I feel more comfortable with than I ever have before.”

Comfortable enough, apparently, to let his comic book fan flag fly.

Gabrielle Union is queen of over-the-top gifts, but this Father’s Day, she’s letting husband Dwyane Wade take the wheel.

And he has quite a few to choose from! After gifting the NBA player a 1974 Ford Bronco last year, plus an “old Benz” for Wade’s birthday, Union is trying to top herself. 

In a hilarious exclusive interview with E! News’ Daily Pop co-host Justin Sylvester on June 17, Union shared she might just resort to “macaroni necklaces” for Father’s Day 2021. “I got him two cars during the pandemic,” Union joked. “What do you do after that? I don’t know, a boat?” 

The fan favorite couple are parents to daughters Zaya Wade and Kaavia James Union Wade and sons Xavier Zechariah Wade and Zaire Blessing Dwyane Wade. 

Turns out Wade only wants a day on the golf course. “It’ll be an easy Father’s Day for her,” he quipped. “She ain’t got to spend no money. I’ll be at the golf course.”

Just don’t stay out too late! “Ain’t no way you’re still golfing but they’re still up there at the club having drinks,” Union added with a smile.

The Academy Award-winning actress reprises her role in the Fast and Furious franchise as criminal mastermind Queenie, and this time Helen Mirren is taking the wheel alongside Vin Diesel.

Helen Mirren is a Dame action star. 

The legendary Academy Award winner exclusively dished on reprising her badass role of Queenie in the Fast & Furious franchise with E! News’ Daily Pop co-host Justin Sylvester.

Even her husband Taylor Hackford was shocked that Mirren took on F9, premiering June 25. “He did a double take, ‘say what? Are you serious?'” Mirren laughed during the June 3 interview. “I’m so excited, it’s fantastic.” 

F9 also marks the first time Mirren gets to be behind the wheel of a Fast & Furious car. “I got to drive, finally,” Mirren quipped. “I’ve done two movies, ‘Oh Fast & Furious, here comes the script. Oh I’m in jail. I won’t be driving. I can’t be driving in jail.’ And then this one arrived and yes, here I am in the getaway car, great, with Vin [Diesel]. Fabulous!”

Yet driving so fast and so furious came with its own set of difficulties—including just fitting into the luxury vehicle! “Both Vin and I had great difficulty getting in, and then even more difficulty trying to get out, especially Vin because he’s really big,” Mirren smiled. “It was very funny.”

It’s quite a love-fest between the co-stars. Diesel previously described working with Mirren on eighth film The Fate of the Furious a “magical” experience.

“No one else in the room mattered. Nothing existed but this bond between her and I,” Diesel told Indiewire in 2018. “It’s probably her which is why The Fate of the Furious was [one of] the fastest movies in history to hit a billion dollars.”
